This story that you're about to read is the very first thing I had ever written in my life. That makes this story my baby so to speak. It was Sonic fan fiction that got me into writing in the first place. I, along with a friend of mine, would write all sort of stories that were good, but this one was the best thing I had ever written. Now, on to this disclaiming for this entire story. I am forced to say that all characters in this story belong to SEGA, Archie Comics, and DiC cartoon productions. There is an exception, Charlie "Sentinal" Echidna is mine. Joshua and Andora Acorn are also characters of mine. Sasha Nicole Acorn is a character created by Ion Patterson. Cmdr. Packbell and Bookshire Draftwood both belong to David Piston. All Star Trek concepts and Characters are property of Paramount Pictures. Anything that isn't mine is property of its creators.

A small ship traveling at speeds beyond the reaches of the races that lived in this part of the galaxy moved quietly through the blackness of space. Only the lone pilot knew where this ship was going. A Mobian once known as Charlie Echidna, now known as Sentinal, was in his training room training at about 450 times normal gravity. Ever since his "execution" for a crime that he didn't commit he had been under the direct authority of a higher galactic power who had saved him from certain death. He was enhanced by technology. He was given adamantium bones and the ability to see in any spectrum of light. His mission was to protect the innocent from being hunted down by bounty hunters. The last one he had killed was from a race of reptile creatures that had killed thousands in order to reclaim his rule over his home world. After he was defeated, Sentinal was told that he should go back to Mobius to clear his name. This would be easy since he hadn't been back in over 500 years. there probably wouldn't be anyone there that new of him. If the ruling body was of the Acorn line, he would show them that Andora Acorn was still alive.
Sentinal eased up a bit thinking about his precious Andora. He may have been captain of the royal guard and sworn to protect all the members of the Acorn dynasty, but it was Andora that he protected and cherished the most.. He wondered if the family continued after he was supposedly killed. That wouldn't matter, if the thrown were held by another family, he and Andora could challenge for it. He doubted the family died out, but if the planet was ruled by a tyrant, well, they will be in for a surprise.
"Planet Mobius ETA is in5 minutes," the computers voice said ringing throughout the ship.
"On my way," he said and headed for the small control room of his ship. He sat in his chair and waited for the blue planet to come into visual contact. When it did, Sentinal started to scan the planet for his old home, the Floating Island.
"Excellent, its still here. Engage the phase cloak and set a course for the Floating Island." he said.
The computer beeped and chirped as it carried out its master's orders.
When the ship arrived, Sentinal guided it into his secret chamber. He got out and headed towards a coffin that looked like it hadn't been opened in a while. He opened it and his eyes filled with tears of joy because she was still under the sleep spell that those mages had put her under so long ago. He moved Andora's coffin to his ship and left it there. He opened up a panel and there was a shoot. He leaped into it head first.
"thruster rockets on, full blast." he ordered and he was traveling through the internal structure of the island until he was shot out of the island and into the upper atmosphere like a canon ball. He let his dreadlocks flatten out so that he could glide. He smiled to himself feeling the wind pass over him. It felt good to be back even though everyone wouldn't know of him.

Sentinal was heading for the capital city. He was met with a surprise when he flew above a cloud of black smoke.
"What the hell, pollution levels are high at the site of the capital city. What has happened here?" he asked himself.

On the ground, the freedom fighters were trying to destroy another SWAT-BOT plant, but Robotnik knew they were coming. The majority of the group was fighting off SWAT-BOTS and the occasional hover unit.
Geoffrey St John a skunk, in more ways than one, and head of the royal guard was driving back the bots with his crossbow. While Sonic was easily handling the tin cans by spin dashing through them. Geoffrey was the one currently with Sally, but any chance to get rid of Sonic and make it look like an accident was good for him. GEOFFREY would drive the bots towards Sonic in hopes the blue blur would be out numbered and out gunned. Meanwhile, Sentinal had just landed and was seeing this battle.
"Well Charlie, ya got out of one war and ended up in another. He grabbed his large gun and started to adjust and aim it at the robots that were given these Mobians trouble. "A high pulse neutron blast should do the trick." he said calibrating the weapon.
Sonic noticed that the bots that Geoffrey was fighting were now heading his way. He cursed to himself about how pompous that skunk could be. Then he saw a red light appear on the SWAT-BOT'S chest and a beam of energy hit it and the bot fell like a pile of garbage.
Sentinal smiled at the ease that the bot was destroyed. "Rapid fire mode," he said and pulled the trigger. All of the SWAT-BOTS were destroyed within a 30-meter radius. He put his gun back into the holster when all of a sudden one of the bots grabbed him from behind.
"Big mistake tin head," he said and easily broke free taking the SWAT-BOT'S arms off. The bot shorted out and fell to the ground with sparks shooting out of its arm sockets.
Sally runs over to Geoffrey and Sonic to tell them to retreat.
"We can't take out the plant, he must have known that we were coming for it." Sally said to both Sonic and Geoffrey.
Sentinal notices the similarities between this girl who just came up and Andora. He realized that the family had continued on past Andora. He started looking for the offending building that they were trying to destroy.
"Short range photon mini-torpedo...maximum yield...fire," he said and pulled the trigger. The small torpedo rocketed away from Sentinal and crashed into the SWAT-BOT factory. Five seconds later it exploded lighting up the city. Sonic, Sally, and Geoffrey hadn't started to run off before the plant was completely obliterated.
"What the hell was that?!" Geoffrey asked.
"We better get out of here." Sally said.
No one had to tell Sonic twice. He revved up and blasted out of the city.

Sentinal slipped into the shadows so that none of the other robots would give him trouble.
"Well, someone has overthrown the royal family and has enslaved the majority of the populous. This has turned into a vacation for me. Now, I better find out where those Mobians live." he said and silently vanished out of the city.

Snively was shaking in his shoes. His uncle hadn't said a word since the SWAT-BOT factory had been destroyed.
"Snively, show the battle that happened in sector 7-G." Robotnik said calmly.
Snively shook even more as he brought up the images. He was scared because he had never heard Robotnik so mad that he was calm. They watched as a SWAT-BOT was destroyed by an energy blast from outside the scene.
`Trace that blast to its source." he ordered.
Snively prayed silently hoping that the computer could do its job. It did and the image of an echidna appeared on the screen.
"Who is that?" Robotnik asked.
"Unknown echidna, does not match any on record." the computer chirped.
"Why would an echidna involve himself in this war!?" Robotnik bellowed.
"I don't know." Snively said shivering in fear..

Sentinal was making his way through the Great Forest. He was following the group of Mobians who were in that polluted city trying to destroy a factory that he ended up destroying himself. He needed to know more about this conflict. The trail stopped dead at a stump.
"Hm, the trail stops cold here. This must be a secret entrance to the base of operations of these Mobians." Sentinal said trying to find a way in. He then saw a vine that looked like it was rigged up to allow entrance to the ones who knew to pull the vine. He pulled it and the stump opened up. He leaped into the hole closing the camouflaged entrance. He slides down a shoot and into a pile of hay.
"Low level security. They probably don't think that someone as advanced like me would end up here. I'll look around and try to find that red headed squirrel-wolf." he said quietly walking through Knothole. No one could see him because he was still in chameleon mode.

"Building a SWATT-BOT factory just to bate us in is getting a little desperate." Bookshire said as he and most of the core freedom fighters were discussing about tonight's almost blunder.
"I agree with Booker, old egg belly is getting more willing to sacrifice a factory just to see all of us roboticized." Sonic said glancing at Geoffrey with a mean look.
"That's not what I'm worried about, what I am worried about is the fact that some unknown force destroyed the factory and the SWAT-BOTS that me and pin cushion over there were fighting:" Geoffrey said smugly.
"Yeah, about that, what were you trying to do, get me killed? You were driving those SWAT-BOTS towards me." Sonic said about to get into Geoffrey's face.
"You're supposed to be the fastest thing alive pin cushion. .So I thought you could deal with it, or is the all mighty Sonic Hedgehog turning spineless." Geoffrey said laying it on thick.
'Don't blow it in front of Sal, don't rip Geoffrey's head right in front of your love that still belongs to him.' Sonic thought as he tried to lower his temper that was at its peak at this time.
"All right you two, enough ego flexing." Sally said defusing the situation.
"As you wish, my princess." Geoffrey said in a softer tone.
Sonic's blood began to boil over. He couldn't believe the smugness of Geoffrey. He just couldn't start a fight, he had to show Sal that he was the bigger Hedgehog and not let Geoffrey get to his ego. His ultimate goal was to win Sally away from the skunk, so he had to show a lot of restraint every time Geoffrey started up with him.
"Are we looking at a possible second enemy bent on destroying both us and Robotnik?" Rotor asked.
"Without all the facts we can't assume that, however, if it is, we may be in serious trouble." Sally said.
"Whoever this new threat is, it needs to show itself, because I don't like cowards that think they're big and they can shoot someone from the shadows." Geoffrey said getting annoyed by the prospect of a secret second enemy.
"Poor skunk-boy, he don't like surprises. Well, I guess he won't like me." a voice said from the shadows.
Geoffrey aimed his crossbow at the source of the voice.
"Come on out, slowly so I can see you." Geoffrey said in an authoritative tone.
"Put your pea shooter down, what's that thing going to do to a bio-mechanical echidna who has lived for over 500 years?" Sentinal asks coming out of the shadows. All of the Mobians in the room were stunned to see this echidna. They had seen Knuckles, but this echidna was much taller, had longer dreadlocks, and had more muscles on him than Knuckles. Geoffrey lowered his crossbow because he knew that it would do no good.
"All right, who are you?" Sally asks trying to keep her nerve up.
"Across the galaxy I'm known as Sentinal, but here, on planet Mobius, I'm known as Charlie Echidna." he said walking towards the group.
Sonic was smiling because Geoffrey was showing his true color, yellow. He was enjoying watching Geoffrey squirm as the big echidna took an empty seat.
Sally was the first to speak, "You were tried and convicted for the crime of killing Andora Acorn." she said coldly. "...but it's impossible for you to be alive,"
"That is the reason that I've come back. Here is the evidence that proves that the mages put her in a deep sleep." he said and lays down a black box and pushes a button. The group gathered in astonishment to see Andora Acorn with vital signs showing that she was still alive.
"He could be lying." Geoffrey stated as if it were fact.
"No, he's not. I can smell the truth all over him. He would not kill the one he loves. Remember Geoffrey, I'm also one-quarter wolf." Sally said confidently.
"Finally, my name is cleared." he said sitting back.
"I hope you're not going to walk out just like that." Sally said trying to get this guy's goat.
"This war means nothing to me. The only thing that is important to me is Andora. She is the only member of the royal family I have that I personally want to protect now. I didn't want my honor or my title restored to me. All I wanted was to clear my name and do my personal duty, protect the only thing that I love that is still alive." he said about to get up. Sally was amazed at this echidna. He still had the duty and honor bound heart, but he didn't care, all he wanted was to be cleared of any wrongdoing. However, he had proven his innocence and his honor and title should be restored to him anyway, no matter what he said. Her family had made enough uncorrectable mistakes. It was time to correct one now. She knew with his experience and skill that they may have a chance to win this war yet.
"Wait don't go. There's something else." Sally began.
"Yes," he said getting a little annoyed.
"This war is about to get a hell of a lot uglier for us. You were the one who led the Mobian army of that time to back those mages up in a corner. Your victory was inevitable. None of us have actual war experience so we need someone like you." she said trying to appeal to Sentinal.
"I know how bad it has gotten for you guys. I will serve the royal family again under two conditions...one, my title as general and head of the royal guard must be reactivated, and two, during and after this war I will only answer to you." Sentinal said waiting to hear her protest.
"Done," was what the only thing Sally said.
Shock went around the room. No one thought that she would give in so easily. Even Sentinal thought he would debate the issue with her for at least a few minutes. Geoffrey was the one that was shocked the most. He had been demoted to second in command of the royal guard. This did not sit well with him, but he had to make a careful protest.
"I must respectfully protest against this course of action, he hasn't been in this war long enough to even try to help us fight it." Geoffrey said.
"Ah, your just mad Cause ya lost your spot," Sonic said amused at Geoffrey's discomfort of being put in this situation.
"Your protest is noted, but my decision is final." she said and all who were present were dismissed.

Most of the freedom fighters who were at the meeting were heading for Sonic's hut for a little card playing whined down. Geoffrey, to Sentinal's annoyance, caught up to him before he could get going.
"I don't know where you get off coming back from the dead and taking my spot, but you'll regret it once King Max is let out of the void." Geoffrey said.
"Apparently you've learned the art of ass kissing very well. Why Sally likes you is a mystery to me. So just shut up and take orders from me from now on. It's not like I'm going to order you to jump through a fiery hoop." Sentinal said.
"I wish you would!" Sonic yelled from his hut as he followed his friends in to try and win another card game night.
"Excuse me skunk-boy, I'm going to meet some people that don't like to kiss ass all the time." he said as he followed Sonic into his hut.

Sentinal came in to see Sonic, rotor, Bookshire, Dr. Quack, and Bunnie seated at a makeshift poker table.
"Well, you made an impression on Sal," Sonic said grabbing the cards.
"I try. You guys mind if I join in?" Sentinal asks.
"Sure, if you wanna become another victim." Sonic said shuffling the deck.
"Why was your leader so desperate in trying to convince me to stay and help you guys?" Sentinal asked.
"What we've found out from our operative in Robotropolis is that Dr. Robotnik is constructing a massive tower away from the city. With it, Robotnik will launch the destruction of the entire planet." Bookshire explains as he watches Sonic deal the cards.
"Hey, I guess 500 years has seen a lot of advances in technology here. Wouldn't he need a massive power source to run this tower?" Sentinal said looking at his hand.
"That's the thing we can't figure out. The source of power is based on the fission-fusion theory." Rotor said as he noticed that he had a bad hand already tonight.
"Of all the substances I've encountered in my lifetime, there is only one substance that is stable enough to withstand that unstable process." Sentinal said.
"What would it be?" Bookshire asked getting curious.
"THE most chaotic gems on the planet." Sentinal said as he was glancing around the room to make sure that everyone was catching the same message.
"if your suggesting what I think your suggesting, then we may be in more trouble than we think." Rotor said.
"But where would egg belly get a chaos emerald. I mean he just can't ask Knux for one can he?" Sonic asked.
"Emeralds usually create a new outer coat ever so often and one shard of the outer coating could be placed in a fission-fusion reactor. So some of those shards may have ended up on the mainland and Robotnik ended up with them. He can't do much with it because the shard is separated from the main emerald. In theory, it can be used in a fission-fusion generator. This would give enough power to power anything from a tower like your enemy is planning to a whole city for as long as the city existed." Sentinal explained. All who were in the room were stunned into silence. If Sentinal was right, the entire planet would be in trouble.
"Y'all must know more 'bout those emeralds than Ol Knuckles does." Bunnie said in her harsh southern accent.
"I was guardian of the island before the mage war. I was the most gifted echidna ever seen on the floating Island. I was the one who designed the hidden armament in the sides of the island. I know the most about chaos emeralds." Sentinal said not even bothering about the reaction he was getting.
"How did you get your nickname anyway?" Sonic asks smiling behind the cards.
"That is an even longer story, but here goes. My real name is Charlie Echidna. I was born in the early 28th century of Mobius. The mage war had become full blown on the main continent. The mages, who had learned about the chaos emeralds, came to the island. There was a battle on the island, most of the mages were killed but they did do one thing that changed my philosophy. One of them killed my mother. So I realized that whatever problems the mainland was facing, it would always eventually spill onto the Floating Island. So, I left the island, never to return until I had my revenge." Sentinal explained.
"So, that's how you ended up in the royal army." Bookshire states looking like he'll be beaten this hand.
"Right, but my tormented life changed when I met princess Andora Acorn. If beauty could be personified, then she would be it. I never knew why they thought I killed her when I had the strongest love for her." Sentinal said as he saw Sonic put down another 50 in the pile.
"That's how I see Sal. I guess I am a slowmoe when it comes to love." Sonic said getting mellow dramatic.
"Here we go again." Rotor said as if this had happened every card game.
"Easy Rotor, 'ol sugar hog has never gotten over Sally. I don't know what the heck she's thinking being with that ol' skunk." Bunnie said.
"One day Geoffrey, one day I will have her, and I will be the one laughing." Sonic said putting power into his voice.
"Ok, what's the story on this love triangle?" Sentinal said as he matched Sonic's last bet.
"Well, I think it all started when I was about 13 years old. I always liked getting into trouble and sneaking around Knothole in places that I shouldn't have been. One day I'm sneaking around and for some reason Sal's bedroom window was opened up just enough so that I could see through. What I saw made my heart skip several beats and my brain overload from the sight of a nude Sal brushing her fur. I knew that the two of us had been flirting with each other, but now I knew that she was the most beautiful creature on Mobius. Then Geoffrey decided to wreck my fun and he's been doing it ever since he got with Sal." Sonic said getting depressed.
"Hey, that guy would turn white at the horrors that I have been through. Geoffrey better keep on his toes if he wants to keep her." Sentinal said.
The games and conversations went on through the night and into the early hours of the morning. With all recounting tales of victory and defeat until it was just Sonic and Sentinal in the hut.
"You guys have done very well so far considering what your up against." Sentinal said.
"We've managed to get by. I, however, may face the possibility that I'll grow old and alone. Oh sure I can go around and fuck the bottom out of any Mobian slut after the war, but I wanna grow old with someone. I don't wanna be with that annoying pink hedgehog known as Amy. All she really feels for me is hero worship. I must have been stupid in thinking that she actually had feelings for me. I should have known it was more like a brother-sister thing." Sonic said ready to break down in tears.
"Don't beat yourself up like that. Geoffrey has convinced Sally that you're no good and could never lead this planet. Although, Geoffrey's leadership skills could be questioned as well. This sector of the galaxy is dangerous. All livable planets are in trouble if what I've seen comes here. If that happens, we may be in a shit load of trouble." Sentinal said trying to calm Sonic down.
"Ok, so maybe I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I can rally people to do something. I've always known if Sal is lost in the line of duty then I would have to take over as leader. No one here respects Geoffrey. They would all look to me, and I would have to depend on people like Rotor and Bookshire for guidance." Sonic said.
"Well, I'll be here as well. You'll get her soon enough." Sentinal said and Sonic turns off the light and he goes to sleep while Sentinal shuts down his technical
parts.

Snively was holding down the fort at 4 in the morning. He hated this almost as much as he hated his uncle. Snively was worried about his uncle's next and greatest plan yet. If Robotnik wins this war, then Snively would never get a chance because Robotnik would find a way to make himself immortal. So he had to hope that those miserable freedom fighters would ruin uncle Julian's fun. He was brought out of his thoughts when the alarm went off.
"Alert, intruder in the storage area." the SWAT-BOT said.
"What freedom fighter would attack at 4 in the morning?!?!" Snively said yelling at the top of his lungs.
"SWAT-BOT group 27 has captured intruder and is heading for the command center." the SWAT-BOT said.
"Excellent, I'll get to have some early morning fun." Snively said as two SWAT-BOTS brought a small-cloaked figure into the room.
Snively smiles as he comes over to the captured figure. He removes the hood to reveal a blond squirrel-wolf. Snively's eyes widen as he looked at the little girl.
"So the rumors were true. Get her a blood test now. I wanna confirm my hypothesis." Snively said and the two bots dragged the unconscious girl away.
Thirty minutes later, Snively is extremely happy with the findings.
"Yes, she is the younger daughter of old King Max. Sasha Nicole Acorn. Born 5 years after Sally. I think it was about three or four months before we took over. She must have been hidden away somewhere incase the overlords somehow regrouped. If Julian throws this one into the void, he'd be making another mistake. I'll convince him to roboticize her. That way she could be more useful." Snively said and instructed the SWAT-BOTS to throw her in a holding cell.

Sentinal awoke around 7 in the morning to hear his internal alarm go off.
"Ok, what the hell is going on." he said to himself as he tries to figure out what set his security alarm off. "I'm getting an Acorn genetic signature from the city. I know that Sally is here, so it must be someone else. I better go check it out." he said and charges out of Sonic's hut.

"Are you sure that this little creature is Sasha Nicole Acorn?" Robotnik asks Snively.
"I tested her myself, she is the real deal sir." he said trying to sound confident but failing miserably.
"And you say we should roboticize her instead of throwing her into the void with her father." Robotnik said wanting to intimidate his nephew.
"The last time we used that thing, Noggis almost broke free if it hadn't been for the properties of the void almost changing him into crystal." Snively said.
"I don't want that sorcerer out of that void. Prepare her for roboticization!" Robotnik bellowed.
"Alert, intruder heading straight for the command center." a SWAT-BOT said.
"Who is it?" Robotnik demanded.
"Subject is echidna," the SWAT-BOT replied.
"It's him, stop that echidna at all costs!" Robotnik ordered.

Sentinal was making his way through the SWAT-BOTS like they were toys to be smashed. He bashed threw the door of the command center and stood before Dr. Robotnik.
"So, your the one who has ruined this planet. You don't look so tough, in fact, you look as tough as a teddy bear." Sentinal said knowing that his remark would piss off the fat man.
"How dare you refer to me in such a way?!" he said yelling at Sentinal.
"And what's gonna stop me, your friend over there with the bus parked on his face." Sentinal said referring to the long, pointed nose of Snively.
"I'll just roboticize you." he said.
"Robotnik, that won't work. None of your little toys can hurt me. Now let the little girl go or I'll make you let her go." Sentinal said as he lets out his adamantium claws.
"Get him!" Robotnik ordered and dozens of SWAT-BOTS were all over Sentinal, but he easily defeated them and got the girl out of Robotropolis.

"Where've ya been Hercules?" Bunnie asked as she sees someone clutching his back.
"Go and tell Sally that she's about to have a family reunion with her little sister." Sentinal said.
Hours later, Sentinal, Sally, and Geoffrey were talking about Sasha.
"Are you sure this isn't another of his tricks?" Sally asks.
"She's the real deal. No robotics or tracers. This is the safest place for her." Sentinal explained calmly and logically.
"How can you be so sure. Your blatant display of your egotism is as bad as Sonic's." Geoffrey said.
"Don't underestimate my abilities. Remember, I'm the one with actual war experience here." Sentinal said as he stares down Geoffrey.
"Sentinal is right. When I talked to her, she had our distinct smell. You can't simulate that." Sally said finally having some sort of true family in her life again.
Sentinal looks out the window to see that Sasha and Tails were already getting along very well.
"Why do I think those two together are gonna cause more trouble?" Sally asks to herself.
"Well, I'll be back in a few hours, I've gotta check up on my darling'." Sentinal said.
"Wait," Sally said before Sentinal walked out of the door, "Thank you,"
"I live to serve," he said while saluting her and heads back for the Floating Island.
"Are you just going to let him come and go as he pleases?" Geoffrey asked annoyed at the smugness of the echidna.
"Are you questioning me?" Sally questioned getting a harsh tone in her voice.
"No, just loudly protesting." Geoffrey said and walks off.

Sentinal had just landed back on the Floating Island. He was impressed that the island was still here to begin with. He decided to take a small tour before going to check on his beloved. Then something popped out of the ground trying to attack him, but Sentinal was not phased. When the dust cleared Sentinal saw a smaller echidna rubbing his head.
"Oh damn, what the fuck are you made of?" he asked getting up.
"You have no need to worry because as you can see, I'm an echidna myself. You would probably know me better by the name of Charlie instead of Sentinal." Sentinal said.
"You! You left the island you traitor." Knuckles said.
"You fool, I realized that anything that effects the mainland will eventually effect the island. You young echidna refuse to understand that. Just because it doesn't involve the Floating Island doesn't mean that it will never involve the island."
"That's dumber than Sonic." Knuckles said.
"So you know about the freedom fighters of Knothole. So the island did get involved."
"Yeah, they came here a while back when Robotnik invaded my island and tried to take my emeralds." Knuckles said wanting this traitor off his island.
"You'll realize eventually that whatever effects the mainland will effect the island as well." Sentinal said walking away.
"Where the fuck do you think your going?" Knuckles asked.
"I'm going to wake up Andora. So back off little echidna." he said and disappeared."

Sentinal came into his ship and into the medical lab.
"Computer, has there been any change?" Sentinal asks worried about his love.
"No change, all attempts at reviving Andora are not working." the computer said.
Sentinal looked down upon his beauty and sighed deeply. Then he bent down and kissed her softly but deeply on the lips. He then heard her moan and her eyes fluttered opened.
"Damn, and they say fairy tales never come true." Sentinal said quietly.
"Charlie, is that you?" she asked in a soft voice.
"Yeah, how do you feel?"
"Like I've slept for about 500 years, and I'm hungry.

"That is known as the Great Forest. Some of those trees are half as old as us." he said stroking her hair.
They landed just inside the perimeter of the forest. They walked for quite awhile until they came upon a stump and Sentinal pulled the vine.
"Strange how they built this base of operations," Andora said clinging to Sentinal as they slid down the shoot.
"Hey, you do what you have to do. They've survived for this long, I doubt they'll be killed so easily." Sentinal said preparing to fall into the stack of hay. When they immerged from the hay, they heard a commotion.
"What the hell is going on?" Andora asked.
"Sounds like my underling and Sonic are at each others throats." he said bounding out of the hay and over to where the argument was at.
"Just because I give her a little compliment doesn't mean that you can fire your damned crossbow at me!" Sonic said getting right in Geoffrey's face.
With just that one line from Sonic, Sentinal knew what the fight was over.- Sonic had said something nice to Sally and Geoffrey was flying off the handle again.
"Disarm yourself now St. John, and that's an order," Sentinal said getting in between the two of them.
"Geoffrey glared at Sentinal and said, "Stay out of this echidna, this is personal."
"I gave you an order, and I expect you to follow it to the letter," Sentinal said getting into an authoritative tone of voice.
"I may have to listen to you when we are fighting Robotnik, but now we are off duty, so back off so I can teach this fool some manners and respect." he said.
"And what gives you the authority to beat the shit out of Sonic, who gave you permission to try and shoot him with your pea shooter?" Sentinal asked.
"This is between me and him, he's gotta completely get out of Sally's life." Geoffrey said.
"That's almost impossible since I'm one of the most important members of this group. My speed has been the deciding factor in this war already." Sonic said.
"Who said we couldn't get along without you?" Geoffrey asked.
"That's it, your confined to your hut" Sentinal barked and getting right in the skunk's face.
"Why can't you stay out of this!" Geoffrey asks frustrated that he can't make Sonic pay for his actions.
"Your causing a rift among this group right now. We don't need this right now. If you don't do what I say I will have you thrown into a personal brig that I'll build myself if I have to." Sentinal said.
This made Geoffrey back down and head back to his little hut.

A few days later, Sentinal and Bunnie were sparring off. Bunnie could tell that the echidna was still mad because of the way he was fighting.
"Owe, that ol' robotic arm can only take so much," she said backing away from Sentinal.
"Sorry, but that damned skunk has gotten my goat! The nerve of him going behind me to tell Sally to make me go easy on him and lessen the punishment." Sentinal said making sure that he didn't blow out a circuit in Bunnie's arm.
"Ol' skunk-boy seems to have Sally-girl around his little finger." she said feeling her robotic arm get more life into it.
"It wasn't this hard to command the guard in my day! I mean, I had full authority and no one questioned me or went to my superior behind my back. It just burns me." Sentinal said closing up her robotic arm.
"Things have changed since you were part of a war. The game has changed. Geoffrey is trying to bring doubt into Sally's head. It's so clear what that ass is tryin' ta do. He wants to rule this planet thinking that he can lead it better than Sally's father. Hopefully, Sally will see the light and dump that ol' piece of garbage for Sonic." she said flexing her metal arm.
"Go," he said and the two continued to spar until Sentinal grabbed the side of his head with the computer components and fell to his knees. Bunnie ran over to him wanting to know what was wrong.
"What's wrong?" Bunnie asked helping him to his feet.
"My internal censors just detected a massive power source about 15 miles away. It overloaded my censors. I'll run my self repair program." He said. Bunnie watched as he gets this distant look in his eyes and then snaps out of it.
"You all right Sent?" she asks.
"All internal censors repaired. I have adjusted them to compensate for the reading. I'll go check it out. If this is what I think it is, then we are in trouble." he said and took off for only where he knew.

Sentinal came to the source of the censor overload. What he saw was a horrific sight.
"Well, looks like the Doomsday project is up and running. I'll do some reconnaissance." he said as he came to the mass of metal.

"Sir, sensors detected the echidna heading for us right now." Snively said.
"Let's see him destroy my life destroying pod." he said.

Sentinal was half way there until he was shot at. Fortunately, he moved a split second before the pod could kill him.
"Ok, you've pissed me off, now your going to get it. High neutron pulse." he said and he shot the pod down, and the hunk of metal crashed to the ground.
"Well, looks like I still win." Sentinal said quietly celebrating. Then he heard the pod reactivate and launched into the air again.
Damn! How'd that thing do that?!" he asked himself as he scanned the pod. He saw that there were more backup systems than normal..
"This will have to do it, caster shell mode. I want a number 4." he said and the gun complied. He squeezes the trigger until the shell is at full power. He releases it and a black ball of energy bores through the pod vaporizing it. This also took some of Sentinal's life force as well.
"Emergency power, I've gotta get out of here." he said and dashed off.

Sentinal came back to Knothole about half dead. As he came towards a group, he could here them talking about the thing that he had just encountered. Bunnie was the first to spot him.
"oh my gosh, sent are y'all all right?" she asks.
"I've been worse, I'll survive." he said.
"Bunnie told me about your sensor overload, was it the Doomsday project?" Sally asked.
"Yeah, biggest piece of metal shit I've ever seen in my life. It's got at least a half dozen launchers which can launch some sort of almost indestructible life-killing pods." Sentinal said as Bunnie and now Andora were keeping him from falling over.
"What do you mean almost?" Geoffrey asked.
"I destroyed one of them. It took some out of me but I'll be all right." Sentinal said feeling the worry from his lover.
"Do you have a suggestion for attacking this thing?" Sally asked.
"I need to get inside the thing. So me And Sonic should go in and try to shut the thing down. We are the only two who can go in without being caught so easily." he said looking at Geoffrey.
"I'll do it. Hey, it may turn out to be fun." Sonic said heading for the power ring pool.
Sentinal stood up at full height looking as if he didn't fire a number 4 caster shell.
"Primary power fully restored. I'm ready." the echidna said.
"Be careful Charlie, I don't wanna lose you again." Andora said kissing him.
"Don't worry, it takes more than hundreds of tons of steel and life killing pods to finish me off." Sentinal said kissing her back.
As Sally watched her ancestor and Charlie show affection to each other she started to think whether she had made the right decision with Geoffrey.
"I hope you can keep up with me." Sonic said.
"I'm not as slow as you think." he said and the two took off in a blur of blue and red.
"Come back home Sonic," Sally said quietly so that Geoffrey would not hear. She didn't need his complaining right now.

The two came to the back of the tower and entered it through the ventilation system.
"Damn, these crawl spaces were not meant for me." Sentinal said crawling along the dark tunnel like path.
"Just think if old blubber butt tried to crawl his way through here." Sonic said about to laugh.
"I'm getting too many sensor echoes to detect where the power source is actually at. I'm going to have to go on pure instinct especially if a discarded shard of a chaos emerald is involved." he said trying to get a fix on where the power source was.

"Sir, couldn't we flood the area they're in with poisonous gas killing them?" Snively asked.
"No, Sonic would turn into a martyr for these pathetic creatures. I want him roboticized. Most likely that echidna is probably immune to any sort of toxic gas. Let them find my surprise, and then Sonic will be roboticized." Robotnik said with an evil smirk on his face.
"What about the echidna?" Snively asked whiningly.
"He will get to watch. I may even try if I can to roboticize Sentinal." he said laughing to himself.

After crawling through the ventilation system for about 30 minutes, the two finally reach the power source of the Doomsday device. Sentinal cut the vent and he and Sonic dropped down.
"Looks like a dome of glass is covering the reactor." Sentinal said.
"Stand back, this glass is going down." he said and went into a spin trying to cut through, but it didn't work."
"Oooofff!!!! what is that thing made of?!?!?!?" Sonic asked rubbing his quills.
"I got it," he said and extended his adamantium claws. He started slashing and cutting, but nothing happened.
"You said that your claws cut through anything." Sonic said.
"Since this stuff did not break my claws, it must be as strong, but not stronger." he said.
"How do you like my diamond glass you pathetic Mobians??" Robotnik asked.
"Grrrrr," was all Sentinal could come up with.
"It stinks Butnik." Sonic said.
"Well then, let's just clear the air around here!" Robotnik said and pushed a button. The two were blown down a tunnel and into a roboticizer.
"Well, my dear echidna, you will be first." he said laughing and pushed the button. A green light covered Sentinal, but when it faded, Sentinal was not a robot.
"Genetic code is too complex for the roboticization process to work. This echidna is also too much machine for the process to work, as well." the computer said.
"I told you that your toy wouldn't work." Sentinal said.
"Well, you're not going to break that diamond glass so I'll just turn Sonic into my slave." he said laughing.
"Let's see if it can stand up against my power ring." he said and charged it up.
Green and gold energy slammed into each other causing a light show. Robotnik was pushing the button over and over again trying to beat the ring's power. Sonic eventually pushed the green light back into the hole it came from.
"Overload...overload...overload...overload..." the computer said as sparks flew across the console. The roboticizer blew destroying the room and the tops of the capsules that Sonic and Sentinal were trapped in. Sentinal grabbed an unconscious Sonic and left.
Snively had watched the whole thing from the main command center. He smiled at the irony of the situation.
"Looks like one of Charles's inventions destroys another one of his inventions. Now maybe you'll listen to your wise nephew in the future." he said waiting on uncle Julian to recover.

The freedom fighters were in a jam now. They were looking at the internal structure of the Doomsday machine provided by Sentinal who was hooked up to Nicole, Sally's hand-held computer.
"The way I see it, there are only two ways of destroying this thing. One is to plant a matter-antimatter bomb on the shield of the reactor. Once it goes off, it will cause a massive explosion which will take out the tower. The problem with this is time. I would need a week to construct it. The other solution is to have another power source overload the reactor by running through the majority of the tower. I've calculated that the shard equals 19000 power rings. So there's the problem with the second solution." Sentinal said.
"The deep power stones equal 20000 power rings when joined together." Nicole said.
"We've got one of the stones," Sally commented.
"My internal sensors are now scanning the city." Sentinal said. "Now reading: unusual power source. Transferring coordinates to Nicole." Sentinal said as he detected the other stone.
"Sonic, take Nicole, get to Robotropolis, and get that stone and hurry." Sally said.
"Right, juice time!" he said and revved out of KNOTHOLE.
Fifteen minutes later, Sonic came back with the other stone and Sentinal scanned the both of them.
"These are very odd stones. If you turn them one way and connect them, they unlock great power, but turn them the other way and you have a very good light show for an explosion." Nicole was right, it equals 20000 power rings." Sentinal said as he was connected to the power stones with two wires that came out of his head and imbedded into each stone.
"What would happen if we use the explosive side?" Sally asked.
"A contained explosion would leave a crater that would reach in depths near the core of the planet. We would commit planetary suicide." Sentinal said.
"That leaves us with only one option, use the power side." Sally said.
"I'll do it myself, I'm the only one whose been exposed to power rings." Sonic said ready to take off.
"No, you're not going by yourself because I'm coming as well." Sally said.
Geoffrey felt like he was about to faint. He couldn't believe what Sally had just said.
"Sally, there's no reason for you to risk your neck for something that's obviously Sonic's job." Geoffrey said.
"No, I could never forgive myself if this plan failed and he got captured or killed. I will go and that's final." she said giving Geoffrey a cold stare which would make the Mobian arctic look like a tropical paradise. Sonic didn't know what to think about this. he was confused but yet he was happy that Sally was putting Geoffrey in his place.
"If this does not work, I'll have my ship standing by ready to destroy the thing from the air." Sentinal said hoping that this would work.
Sally nods in acknowledgement as she is carried away by Sonic off to the Doomsday project.

Robotnik was sitting in his chair impatiently waiting for this game of Mobian chess to be over with.
"I know those miserable fools will try one more time to stop me. Why won't they just get it over with!?!?!?!?" he yelled slamming his fist onto the arm of the chair. Snively shivered in terror. He didn't like this either, but it was getting to his uncle more than it was getting to him.
"Sir, maybe they're waiting for death to come."." Snively said, and then it happened. The alarm sounded and Snively almost jumped out of his chair. "Sir the princess and the hedgehog are at the reactor, and they have the..." Snively started to say.
"They have the what!?!?!?" Robotnik bellowed.
"They have the deep power stones and are about to connect them!" Snively yelled out at the top of his lungs making him sound like a little girl.
"All units, stop them!" Robotnik screamed, but it was too late. The energy output had smashed the diamond glass. and the two were running all over the place. Robotnik headed for his personal escape pod with SNIVELY close behind.
"No, only room for one!" he yelled and shoved Snively away and got the hell out of there.
Snively had found a service elevator and took it down underground. When the thing exploded, Snively was safe, but Robotnik's pod was caught in the shock wave and flew towards the Great Unknown.

"Well, if that wasn't the damndest thing I've ever seen," Sentinal said as the freedom fighters started to celebrate.
"So, now I know why you like using those rings." Sally said elbowing Sonic in the gut playfully.
"Yeah, but 20000 at once is so way past cool." Sonic said. Then she did something most unexpected, she rapped her arms around him and deeply kissed him hard on the mouth. No one else could see it, but Sentinal saw a glow around them.
'It must be remnants of the deep power stones. I doubt that this war is over, though.' Sentinal thought to himself.

"Ahahahahahahahah!!!!!!! Now, Snively the Great will show you worthless Mobians how he runs things, and I'm not alone!" he said stepping out the elevator with a metal hedgehog. "Come Mecha-Sonic, we have work to do."
