Behind My Eyes
Co-Written By Harley Quinn hyenaholic and Froggy22651

Harley: Well I think the summary says it all - Froggy and me felt like having cybersex. So we took on our regular personas of Sonic-Crazed Amy, Angst-Filled Shadow and Jerkwad Sonic, and got the hell on with it. Yes, it is pointless. Yes, it is like the first chapter of A Rose And A Thorn. Yes, I do think Sonic is an ass. Get over it.
Froggy: I suppose this is what the first chapter of ARAAT might look like if we wrote it now. Oh, and we don’t own ANY of the characters in this fanfic. They all belong to Sega. Tack about four years onto everybody’s ages by the way. Just so that there’s no Minors.

Amy Rose Blossom sat quietly at the table in the restaurant, staring at the candle burning in the middle of the table. She had been doing so for over two hours. She looked at her twice-empty wine glass unhappily. There was a perfectly good reason she was waiting here. Sonic had finally said he would go on a date with her! She'd been so excited; she’d gotten all dressed up in a nice, sparkly red dress with a slit in the side and red high heels. They'd arranged to meet in this restaurant.
But Sonic was late. He was a hero, he was probably rescuing somebody... there was a perfectly good explanation for his tardiness. She stared at the candle a little longer. Then tears started to roll silently down her round cheeks.
A waiter approached Amy, "Miss Blossom, is there anything you'd-"
"I'd like another glass of wine, please," Amy sighed, "And I'd also like you to tell me my boyfriend has arrived and is apologising his ass off for being late..." She sniffled again as the waiter walked off. He's just late. Probably got held up by something... he would never have forgotten! Amy thought. Deep inside though, she wasn't sure she believed it. But she couldn't just leave. What if Sonic came just afterwards? She felt more tears running down her face, spoiling her makeup.
Outside, on the darkened streets, an equally dark hedgehog was walking slowly, aimlessly, lost in his thoughts. He generally was. Shadow had a tendency to dwell on past memories, even after he promised himself to leave his past behind him. The cold wind whipped at his body, and a snowflake fell past his cheek, the sky ready to open up, but the cold didn't bother the Ultimate Lifeform. It was hard coming to grips with the fact that he was a half-alien genetically-engineered freak created as a piece in a big chess game between his two creators. And sometimes, he wondered if he picked the right side of the board. It wasn't like he got any reward for his heroics. Sure, people cheered his name, but something was missing. Something felt empty inside, and he didn't know what.
The feel of a snowflake melting between his eyes broke Shadow’s thoughts. The dark hedgehog stopped and looked up at the white fluff coming down from the sky. He hadn't seen snow very often, and he always had wondered what it was like. Maria had described it to him on the ARK. Shrugging, he continued on his way until light spilling out from a window caught his eye. That wouldn't have interested him enough to stop, but something he saw in the window did. He easily recognized Amy, the pink hedgehog he had first met on Prison Island, her mistaking him for the blue faker. He never had understood her obsession with him...
Shifting his focus to the present, he couldn't help but notice the way she hung her head. Squinting and looking closer he noticed... yes, she was crying. Frowning, the Ultimate Lifeform turned to continue on his way. After all, why should he care about how she felt? It wasn't his business. And yet... he remembered when she approached him on the ARK, reminded him of his promise. She didn't have to do that, but she did, having a faith in him that no one else had since Maria. Guilt, one of the emotions that Shadow hated having but could not deny, stabbed through him, "Damn it,” he muttered as he turned and walked into the restaurant. One of these days, he was going to regret having compassion.
Amy sipped at her third glass of wine carefully. I must look awful, she thought to herself, With my makeup all smeared and an empty seat in front of me. Suddenly a hand rested on her shoulder, and she looked up quickly, smiling. The smile faded again quickly though, when she saw who it was, "Oh," she said, wiping her tears away quickly, "Hello, Shadow. What are you doing here?"
"I was just passing through,” Shadow said, looking down at Amy's tear-streaked face. Judging from it and the three wine glasses, he figured she had been there for some time, "I saw you there in the window and I..." he hesitated, "I was wondering what was wrong."
"Oh, I'm just waiting for Sonic," Amy said, forcing a smile, "He should be here any time now." She didn't want Shadow to know how long she'd been waiting for. The black hedgehog would just lap that up, she was certain.
"Right,” Shadow replied, sounding like he didn't believe it, "And just how long have you been waiting for him, Amy?"
Amy looked down, "Um... a little over two hours," she said quietly. That was one thing you could say for Shadow - he was perceptive.
Shadow reminded himself that it was kindness that Amy needed, not judgement. Without asking, he sat down across from her, looking into her sad eyes. His own were intense, as they always were, energy practically burning under the surface, "I don’t understand you," he said, tilting his head to the side, "Whenever you try to get close to him, he runs away and hurts you, and yet you keep coming back for more. Why?" It was an honest question. Rather blunt, but that was to be expected from him.
"He's... just shy," Amy said. It sounded like a feeble excuse, even to her, "He loves me. Why else did he rescue me from Eggman all those times I was silly?"
Shadow fought the urge to roll his eyes. Amy was in denial, refusing to see the truth. The truth was one thing Shadow always faced, no matter how painful, "He would rescue anyone from Eggman, and you know it,” he told her firmly, "I know you don't want to hear this, but I'm telling you anyway. Whether or not you choose to listen is up to you. I'm sure Sonic values you as a friend, but that is all. Maybe he finds you annoying. Maybe he has someone else in mind. Hell, maybe the blue faker is gay. Whatever the reason, he doesn't love you."
Amy pulled a pink, lacy handkerchief out of her pocket and wiped her eyes, smearing her eyeliner some more, "But... he said he'd meet me here tonight!" she said, "And anyway, you're Shadow! Everybody knows you like to be mean to people!" She stopped, seeing the flicker of emotional pain in Shadow's eyes, "No, I didn't mean it like that-"
Shadow's expression hardened, the flicker of pain replaced by a hint of anger, "Why do I bother?" he growled quietly. The black-furred hedgehog slid out of the seat and stood up, turning to walk away, "I'll go now."
Amy stood up, "No, I'm sorry," she said, putting her hand on Shadow's shoulder, "You..." she swallowed, "You may be right about Sonic. It's just that..." She stopped and wiped her eyes, sitting down again, "Gods, I'm so bloody stupid!" she started to cry, "He doesn't love me and you all must have been telling me for years but... gods, I went on about him marrying me and us having children... I must look like such an idiot..."
Shadow sat down across from her again, "It’s alright,” he assured her, "Yes, you made a mistake, but you shouldn’t make a big deal about it. Just look for someone else, someone who actually cares. Don't waste your time on Sonic. Trust me, you won't have trouble drawing attention from other men."
Amy just sniffled again, "How?" she asked, "I've gone around insisting Sonic's my boyfriend for so long... other people are going to think they're a substitute for him! Maybe I deserve them to think that,” she added, taking another sip from her glass.
"You're too hard on yourself,” Shadow said, shaking his head, "You are attractive, kind-hearted, gentle... To be honest, I don't know why anyone would not be interested in you."
Amy looked up. She looked terrible - her hairspray was wearing off and her quills were going frizzy, and her makeup was smudged all over her face with crying, "You think so?" she asked him.
"Of course I do,” he insisted. Out of all of Sonic's friends who he had encountered, Amy was the one Shadow thought of the most fondly. She reminded him a lot of Maria; they shared their best qualities.
Amy smiled a little, "Would you... consider this a first date?" she asked him, blushing slowly.
Shadow blinked, his eyes widening in surprise. He didn't expect Amy to be interested in him of all people, the severe, loner hedgehog with more than a few issues to deal with. Still... he had recently broken up with Rouge, so he had no good reason not to... and he had to admit that the idea of becoming closer to Amy was appealing, "I... I guess so,” he stuttered awkwardly, "Alright then,” he said to her, reaching across the table and squeezing her hand, "It’s a date." He didn't smile very often, and when he did, it generally meant bad news for someone else, but a genuine smile slowly formed on his lips as he saw the pink hedgehog blush.
Amy's blush became more intense. In all honesty she'd thought Shadow would just laugh at her in that particularly nasty way of his. She certainly hadn't expected somebody as handsome as he was to be interested in her, "I must look such a mess," she said. Still, having Shadow here was a lot better than sitting alone. And he'd come in when he'd seen her crying. He didn't have to do that. Maybe there was more to him than met the eye...
"You look fine,” Shadow assured her. It was a partial lie, seeing as she had recently been crying, but that did nothing to diminish her good looks, "If anyone should be complaining about looks, it’s me,” he said, lightening the mood, gesturing to himself, "I look like some sort of demon. Scary people don't make good first impressions."
"Hey, you look fine," Amy said, "In fact..." she mumbled something.
"What?" Shadow asked her.
"I always thought you were kinda... handsome..." Amy said quickly, and blushed again.
Shadow gave Amy a puzzled look. Despite his undeniable over-confidence in his own abilities, and the fact that he constantly insisted he was the Ultimate Lifeform, he’d never thought much about his looks, "You really think so?" he asked, "...Thank you. I - I'm flattered."
And then he was there, the blue hedgehog, standing beside the table, looking at both of them as they smiled and held hands with a baffled look on his face, his lips moving as he struggled to find words, "What? Amy? Shadow?" he stuttered.
Amy turned quickly, “Sonic!” she squealed, her eyes lighting up.
"I... I'm sorry... that I was late..." Sonic spoke, his eyes shifting back and forth between Amy and Shadow, finally focusing solidly on his black and red rival, "Did I miss something?"
Shadow looked up at the blue faker, that smug smirk of his on his face, "Yes, your date."
Amy blinked a few times, "Sonic!" she smiled again, "I knew you hadn't forgotten me!"
Shadow's body stiffened, his smile faded and his grip on Amy's hand tightened slightly. Did she just completely forget the conversation they’d had? Had she forgotten he was there?
Sonic, still shocked, looked down at his wristwatch, wondering if he wasn't as late as he thought. Nope, he was correct; he was over 2 hours late. And yet Amy was smiling up at him, sitting with Shadow, no less. It was at times like this that he truly doubted the girl's intelligence as well as her sanity, "But… I kinda did,” he told her uncomfortably, "I feel terrible about it. I promised you I'd be here, and it totally slipped my mind."
Amy's eyes widened, "You... you forgot?" she asked, "You forgot?!" Her expression changed. Tears were pricking the corners of her eyes, but at the same time she looked furious. She drank the rest of her glass of wine, "I never thought I meant that little to you, Sonic," she said coldly.
"No, it’s not like that! I…" Sonic started up in his defence, "I do care! I just forgot, ok?" Behind Amy, he could see Shadow starting to grin again.
Amy drew herself up with as much dignity as she could muster on eight-inch heels, fighting a strong desire to slap Sonic very hard. He opened his mouth to answer her, and she interrupted, “Whatever your excuse is, just forget it.”
"Amy, please, listen to me!" the blue hedgehog begged. Shadow never thought he'd see that from his rival. Maybe Sonic actually understood that he'd gone too far this time.
"Okay, Sonic," Amy said, her hands curled into tight fists, "I'm listening..."
"Yes, I screwed up,” Sonic admitted, "I should have been here, and I wasn't. I made a mistake, but it... it doesn't mean I don't care!"
Shadow rolled his eyes at Sonic. Oh, please. Can't you just tell her out straight that you're not interested in her? Stop drawing out this bullshit and leading her on...
"You're just telling me what I already know!" Amy said angrily, "Forget it, Sonic! Our non-existent date is completely over!" She pushed past him and headed for the door.
Shadow was still seated at the table, but his grin had become so wide that it threatened to remove the top of his head. Sonic noticed the grin and glared dangerously at his darker rival.
Shadow just shook his head as he stood up, "Oh, what are you so upset for? I bet you just arranged this date out of pity or something. You aren't really interested in her, anyway."
"Maybe not, but she's still my friend!" Sonic replied.
Shadow quickly walked towards the door in pursuit of Amy, "That depends on how forgiving she'll be after tonight,” he said, before leaving the restaurant.
He found Amy standing just outside the door, crying hard again. The snow was still falling lightly, and was starting to settle on the ground. Amy looked up at Shadow, her cheeks stained with tears and run make-up, "You were right, Shadow," she told him, "You were right about everything!"
Shadow paused, looking at her for a moment, and then he stepped closer, placing an arm around her shoulders. "It will be alright,” he assured her quietly, "I know it must hurt, but the pain will fade."
Amy wrapped her arms around his shoulders loosely and hid her face in his chest fur. He could hear her crying for a little while, trying to stifle loud gulps and sobs, but eventually she stopped, breathing slowly, her face still hidden.
Nervously, the dark hedgehog returned the embrace, wrapping his arms around her shaking form, patting her back. Comforting others wasn't something he knew a lot about, but there was a first time for everything.
Amy unwound her arms from around him carefully. She was shivering slightly from the cold, "I... I left my coat and handbag in the restaurant," she said, "I'll go and fetch them... I guess I'll see you around?" she asked him, looking up again.
Shadow realised that she actually thought that he was just going to run off as soon as her back was turned. And why shouldn't she? It was what Sonic had always done, "Unless you want me to stay,” he replied with a shrug. He had no plans to freak out and run, like Sonic might have.
"Would you?" Amy asked him. She was thinking of the lonely walk home, and more so, the empty apartment that awaited her.
The black and red hedgehog nodded and graced her with one of his rare smiles, "Sure, I would like that,” he told her.
Amy smiled, and went back into the restaurant, picking up her fluffy red jacket and handbag. She glanced around. She couldn't see Sonic, so she supposed he must have gone out the back way. She couldn't say she was surprised. She left the restaurant again, and linked her arm with Shadow's as they started to walk, "Thank you," she said quietly.
"What for?" Shadow asked.
"For... for being there," Amy said, "You didn't have to be there. It was... it was kind of you."
Shadow seemed to think this over before answering, "It wasn't a problem. You did the same for me,” he said, referring way back to the ARK incident.
"And I don't think you look demonic," Amy added. She looked up at him, "You're a hedgehog, like me."
Looking down into her eyes, Shadow knew that wasn't true. He wasn't a hedgehog like her, not really. He was some sort of transgenic hybrid freak, a natural killer who had seen more horrors in a few years than anyone should in a lifetime. He looked down at the light covering of snow on the ground, "I look like one of those damned aliens,” he muttered, "Rouge liked it. You don't mind. But it bothers most other people."
"They don't know you," Amy said. She pulled her jacket tighter around her slim body, shivering a little, "You're not cruel or wicked. You're kind and honest and I just know that Gerald would be so proud of you if he could see all the good things you've done."
"I hope so,” muttered Shadow. Yes, he had done good things, but he had also come very close to doing some truly horrific things. If not for Amy, he would have the let the world be destroyed. And sometimes, a part of him wanted to finish the job. But he didn't want to think about that. Instead, there was something Maria had told him about that he wanted to try. Stopping and letting go of Amy, the dark hedgehog looked all around him to make sure that nobody was watching, "Amy, you can never tell anyone that you saw me doing this." Once he was sure they were alone, he looked skyward and stuck his tongue out, letting snowflakes land on it.
Amy giggled at the sight. Shadow suddenly looked a lot less naturally menacing, and almost cute, "Who told you about catching snowflakes on your tongue?" she asked him, smiling.
"Maria did,” he answered her, "It was one of the few memories she had of Earth, and it was something she liked doing. I felt like trying it," The dark hedgehog smirked, "Huh. Imagine that. It is fun."
"Silly things can be fun sometimes," Amy agreed, "You're too serious. You need to have more fun." Then she tilted her head back and stuck her tongue out, copying what he had done and catching some snowflakes of her own.
Shadow smirked and moved closer to her again, holding her to him so that she wouldn't be cold, "You may have a point,” he admitted, "I don't remember the last time I did anything just for fun."
Amy smiled, cuddling a little closer to him as they started walking again. After a while, they reached her apartment and climbed the stairs. She took a key out of her handbag and unlocked the door. Then she looked back at Shadow, "Would you... would you like to come in?" she asked him, shyly.
Shadow considered the alternatives... "Yes, I would,” he replied, walking again to Amy's side.
Amy's apartment was very pink. And lacy. It was full of photographs, too. Of her family, of her friends, and there were a couple with him in them too. But there was a particularly large image of Sonic in the living room. Amy looked at it, "Give me a moment," she said, and took down the frame. Then she snapped it in half over her knee, and threw both halves out of a window. She turned back to Shadow, "That's much better," she said, smiling.
That was a bit rash, Shadow thought. He would have burned it - slowly. Still, it was a start. He crossed his arms over his chest and smirked, "You learn fast,” he told her. He swept his gaze over Amy's apartment, noting the pictures and the frilly pink, "Nice place you have here,” he said, "It’s very... pink."
Amy smiled again, "I like pink," she said, taking off her jacket and hanging it up. Then she took off her high heels and looked at them slightly mournfully. The walk home had ruined them. She looked in a small mirror and started wiping off all her smudged make-up with tissues, "I suppose your home is all black and red."
"I like black and red,” he replied, walking over and sitting down on the couch. He did like Amy's home though; it felt very cosy to him, and very safe.
Amy sat next to him, "Well... I quite like black and red too," she said, and a slight blush rose to her cheeks as she took his hand shyly.
"Really?" he said, his hand coming to rest tentatively on her back. He got the feeling that she wasn't talking about the colours, but the person wearing those colours, "Well, I like..." He stopped, thought about the colour pink, and decided against it.
"What do you like?" Amy asked him, glancing sideways at him.
"You,” he answered quickly. Looking away, he added, "You were the only one that had faith in me during the ARK incident. Only you thought that there was good in me, that I would try to stop the Professor's plan."
"And you did," Amy smiled, "I've always thought that there must be good in everybody, if you look hard enough. Even if they only think that they're doing it for the best."
"Perhaps,” admitted Shadow, "But I've seen a lot more of the bad within people than the good. Sometimes I wonder if I'm really making a difference... or just delaying the inevitable."
Amy sighed, and placed her hand under Shadow's chin, turning him to face her gently, "That's good enough for me," she said softly, looking into his crimson eyes.
He looked back into her emerald eyes, comforted by them. With just a look and a touch, he believed her; felt that his struggles made some sort of difference. And that meant more to him than Amy could ever know.
Amy's lips trembled. But she was certain that the dark hedgehog wouldn't appreciate her kissing him on their very first date. So she rested her cheek against his chest instead.
A soft sigh escaped Shadow, and he rested his cheek on the top of her head, his hand rubbing her back comfortingly. He liked the contact, the warmth, the sense of belonging. It was something he’d had to do without for so long... he could barely remember what it felt like.
Amy smiled, moving closer to Shadow again, her legs curling up on the couch, "I can feel your heart beating," she said softly, her hand stroking the fur on his chest gently.
Shadow closed his eyes, savouring Amy's touch. He stroked her gently, his fingers moving through her fur and quills, his cheek nuzzled against her. He could feel her trembling slightly in his embrace. She was moving slowly, obviously unsure of where he would allow her to touch him, but as one hand stroked his chest, the other looped around his shoulders, trailing through his quills.
Shadow's face moved lower, his cheek rubbing against hers, his embrace becoming tighter, his strokes longer. The nervousness he had felt when he was close to her was leaving him. His other hand reached up and caressed her neckline. His lips were close to hers again, his breathing heavy and warm as they trembled. Shadow opened his eyes and searched her eyes for what it was she wanted. He thought he knew. And to give it, he leant closer, his lips meeting hers firmly.
The kiss was slow, and deep, and everything Amy had ever dreamed of with Sonic. But now Sonic wasn't the one on her mind. As their lips met and pressed together, her hands moved again, her fingers pressing against the hard muscles in Shadow's shoulders, his back, his sides, feeling them tense and shift under his smooth fur.
The kiss deepened, the touches became firmer, more needy, their hearts beat faster. So this was what Amy wanted; a companion who appreciated her, who wouldn't turn away, who would be there for her. And Shadow knew that he had always craved the same thing.
Amy wanted the kiss to go on forever. But eventually their lips parted again. She gazed into Shadow’s eyes, raising a hand to his cheek. Then she leant forward and gave him her kisses. Each one was as soft and warm and fleeting as a breath of summer wind, as she caressed his lips with her own.
Shadow sighed quietly in pleasure, a deep warmth pooling in his belly and spreading outward. He savoured this moment, carved it onto the surface of his memory, making it as everlasting as he was. He sat there, letting her kiss him as he touched her body, stroking her cheek.
Amy continued to kiss him softly and repeatedly, sucking gently on his lower lip as she pulled away again, "Shadow..." she said softly, her lips brushing against his as she spoke, "I... I don't know quite... what to do... I mean... how..." She flushed, ashamed suddenly at her inexperience.
The rather more experienced Shadow understood her nervousness, caressing her cheek reassuringly. Considering her obsession with Sonic since a young age, he doubted she had been involved with anyone else, "It's alright,” he whispered, "I can guide you. Trust me."
"I do trust you," Amy said without hesitation, "Will you... teach me?"
Shadow nodded wordlessly and rested his forehead against hers, closing his eyes, "What is it you want to learn, Amy?" he asked softly.
Amy's arms dropped from his sides slowly, "I want to learn... where you like to be touched," she replied. She could feel heat rising to her cheeks, and hear her blood pounding in her ears.
Reaching down, Shadow took Amy's hand in his own and brought it up to his face, resting her palm on his cheek, "I like to be touched here, for starters,” he whispered, staring into her eyes. He slid her hand over his cheek and moved her fingers behind his ears, "I like having my ears scratched too,” he said with a smile, "But don't let anyone know that, please..." Taking her other hand, he placed it on the patch of white fur on his chest, "I like being scratched here as well,” he said, closing his eyes. He guided Amy's trembling hand lower, down his chest and quivering belly until it met his steadily growing erection. Drawing a quick breath, Shadow told her, "And here. I do like being touched here."
Amy gasped softly, her fingers resting on Shadow's erection, "Oh, my..." Her hands trembled as she raised them again, at first just trailing her fingers over Shadow’s cheeks. She reached up and scratched behind his ears gently, then moved her hands down, rubbing them slowly through the fur on his broad chest, smiling as he began to purr softly. Then, her cheeks flushing red, her hands slipped further down, trailing over his belly, and then rubbing the insides of his thighs, "Does that feel... good?" she asked him.
"Oh, yes,” Shadow murmured, purring like a cat. It was an oddly comforting sound, and she could feel the vibrations flowing from him to her, “You’re… doing well, Amy,” he told her.
"Teach me more," Amy said, still rubbing him slowly, leaning closer to him, "Teach me... everything."
"Everything?" he asked with a smirk, "Well... I'll do my best." The dark hedgehog leaned in and kissed her throat, running his strangely rough tongue over the fragile flesh. Guiding her hand, he brought it to his hardening shaft and curled her fingers around it, encouraging her to stroke it as he slowly licked lower from her throat to her chest.
Amy murmured in pleasure as Shadow's tongue moved over her chest, and tilted her head back. Her fingers began to rub up and down his shaft slowly, feeling it swell further under her touch, and then she reached behind herself and slowly undid the zip that held up her dress. It slipped down a little way, just enough to bare her breasts to Shadow. She shivered a little, her nipples perking up.
Purring softly, Shadow's licks continued lower, his tongue swirling over her breasts, his lips closing over a nipple. He moaned softly at her touch, licking and sucking her breasts slowly. His other hand slowly slipped under Amy's dress and pressed against her panties, his fingers rubbing through the thin material.
Amy gasped again, louder this time, and removed her gloves and bracelets, rubbing Shadow's erection with one hand, the other pushing up into his chest fur and scratching gently. She moaned softly as he touched her, and leant forward, licking the inside of his ear slowly.
Shadow's eyes opened wide as Amy did that and soon after rolled back into his head. He gave a loud moan, his ears flicking at her touch. His fingers slipped inside her panties and pulled them down her legs. The dark-furred hedgehog kissed and licked his way to her other breast, his hand moving up to squeeze and rub the other.
Amy realised she had found another good spot, quite by accident. She continued to lick and kiss Shadow's ears even as she moaned with pleasure, her breath warm and rapid against his skin, her hands still moving over his body.
Shadow moaned, louder than before, his shaft throbbing in her grip as he placed a finger on her moistening slit and rubbed slowly. He shivered as she continued her treatment of his ears. He had forgotten that it was a sensitive spot for him... but she had figured it out all on her own. "Oh, Amy,” he breathed, "Keep doing that..."
"Shadow..." Amy moaned softly as his finger slipped into her tight passage, her insides churning with anticipation. Her arm wrapped around his waist, holding them both together.
Shadow stroked inside her slowly and softly, allowing her to get used to the intrusion. He pressed himself harder against her, resting his cheek on hers and panting softly.
Amy's breathing was faster than ever now as a feeling of heat pooled deep inside her, right where Shadow was moving his fingers. She moaned again, her grip on his length increasing, "I... Shadow, I..." she moaned, "I've never..."
"I know,” Shadow gasped, "Trust me..." He added another finger to her tight passage as he drew her into another passionate kiss, moaning into her mouth as she squeezed his length, pre-cum beginning to ooze from the tip.
Amy's eyes widened, her body shaking in Shadow's embrace, her hand moving away from his member quickly and squeezing his inner thigh hard. Her lips parted, a shuddering cry of pleasure escaping her mouth.
Shadow took the opportunity to slip his tongue inside and running it across her own, exploring the inside of her mouth as he continued to finger her.
Amy's tongue stroked against his as she moaned intensely. Still shaking, her hand returned to rubbing Shadow's shaft again, harder and faster than before.
His hips jerked forward into her grasp, a low grunt of pleasure escaping into the kiss. Shadow matched her intensity with his own, his fingers sliding in and out of her faster. The dark hedgehog was trembling in her embrace, the pleasure and passion becoming greater with each passing moment.
Amy moaned again and pulled herself forward into Shadow's lap, bringing them closer again. She could feel the head of his shaft rubbing up against her belly as she rubbed it, "Shadow... oh... oh..." she moaned into his mouth, her breasts pressing up against his chest.
Shadow ended the kiss with a gasp for air, the dark hedgehog holding Amy close as they pleasured each other, their cries of passion filling the room. It won't be long now, Shadow thought. This wasn't what he’d seen himself doing that night... but he had no complaints about where he ended up, or more importantly, who he was with.
Each touch was a whole new experience for Amy, making the whole thing all the more pleasurable. Panting hard, she leant forward, rubbing her cheek against Shadow's. She was vaguely aware that they were going to have sex, make love, screw, whatever euphemism best suited the situation, and subconsciously she was very glad that she'd started taking the Pill to lessen the pain of her periods. But the thought foremost in her mind was that she still didn't know quite what she was doing, and wasn't sure of how they would get there.
Shadow knew, however, and judging from how moist he had made her, she was ready. At least, as ready as she would ever be. The dark hedgehog knew that this would be uncomfortable for her, but he was determined to make it as easy as possible for his lover. Drawing his fingers out of her, Shadow pushed Amy gently backwards onto the couch, crawling on top of the pink hedgehog and staring down into her eyes, panting heavily. He caressed her cheek as he whispered, "You are ready. This is going to hurt, Amy, but again… I need you to trust me."
Amy was trembling with fear, but that didn't mean she wanted it any less. She smiled nervously, pulling off her clothes that had merely been 'displaced' by the previous frantic activities, "I do trust you, Shadow," she said, gazing up at him, breathing hard and resting her hands on his chest.
Shadow smiled down at her before he lowered himself, lining up his throbbing shaft with her slit and rubbing the tip against her. Steadying himself, the black-furred male pushed forward, slowly entering Amy, taking his time, gasping in pleasure. The moist, warm tightness around him felt so good... his impulses told him to drive right in, but he held back, letting Amy get adjusted to the width before the real pain was inflicted.
"Oh! Ah!" Amy squealed in pain as the head of his shaft stretched her passage, and her fingers tugged at Shadow’s white fur hard, "Oh! Shadow! It's... so... thick!"
The dark hedgehog groaned as he paused within her, his muscles quivering as he held back, taking it slow. When he was ready to continue on, he looked down into Amy’s flushed face, at the tears ready to fall from the corners of her eyes. Frightened and excited, pleasured and in pain... she was beautiful to him, "I'm so sorry about this..." he said softly. And then he thrust forward with a grunt of pleasure, breaking through her barrier.
Amy burst into tears at the sudden, sharp pain and gritted her teeth. She felt as if she was burning inside, a combination of the pain and Shadow's length inside her. As he pulled it a little way out, he could see that it was stained with blood - her blood. He'd never been with a virgin before.
Shadow eased his way back inside Amy, stroking her face and wiping away tears, hoping that the pain would subside soon. After a few minutes of cuddling, he began to move within her, pushing in and pulling out slowly.
Amy whimpered. Any movement hurt a lot, although it lacked that first sudden shock. But as she became used to the slow, regular thrusts, the pain became a dull background, the pleasure began to rise again, and she smiled through her tears, bending her knees and spreading her legs to make it easier for them both.
Shadow was panting as he loomed above her with his eyes closed, rocking back and forth, smoothly sliding into her tight passage. The dark hedgehog moaned and held onto his lover tightly, smiling, It’s official: Sonic is a grade-A, world-class moron, he thought.
Amy began to moan, raising her hips to feel him deeper inside her, It's official: I was a grade-A, world-class moron to want Sonic, she thought, breathing deeply, her lungs filled with the scent of Shadow's musky odour, which only aroused her further, "Oh... Shadow..." she moaned.
"Amy..." he moaned back, thrusting deeper into her, feeling her hips raise, The dark hedgehog buried his face in the fur of her neck, nibbling softly. Amy was starting to enjoy it, and Shadow became more bold.
Amy wrapped her arms around him, and began to suck on his neck, her fingers pressing hard against his back as their bodies met repeatedly, and their moans and cries of pleasure mingled.
Shadow tilted his head up so she had easier access to his neck, and moaned loudly towards the ceiling. Faster and faster he thrust into her, their lovemaking becoming more intense and pleasurable the closer they neared its end.
Amy stopped kissing Shadow's neck, and began to cry out as the pleasure increased with each thrust. It was almost unbearable. She stopped thinking, and gave in to everything her body wanted, pulling Shadow down with each thrust, practically screaming, screaming his name, screaming for more.
Shadow screamed with her. They were running on lust, on instinct, thrusting against each other, seeking more pleasure. Shadow knew he wouldn't last much longer, moaning out, "Amy! Oh, I'm gonna... Ah!"
"No! Don't! Keep! Go! Ing!" Amy screamed, just wanting the feelings inside her to last forever. Sweat ran down her body, mingling with that of Shadow's. She managed to sit up, just enough to press her lips to Shadow's fiercely, stifling any sound from either of them.
Grasping her face, Shadow returned the kiss with all the passion he could muster, fighting against the coming climax, waiting for Amy. He could do it, he knew. After all, he was the Ultimate Lifeform.
Amy couldn't scream. But she felt as if her body had, her legs wrapping around Shadow's waist as the pleasure of being with him, against him, around him, finally reached its peak, and her entire existence gave a massive lurch.
Shadow cried out, feeling Amy tighten around him, and held her to him, gasping and shaking as he reached his own peak, his body tensing and his whole world turning into a rush of pleasure. He clutched his new lover, gasping into her fur, breathing in her scent as he came down from his high, riding out her own, moaning her name.
"Shadow!" Amy gasped again, "Shadow... Oh... oh..." after a little while she stopped shaking and calmed down a little, "I... I think... I've just had my first orgasm," she said, still holding him tightly.
Shadow chuckled softly, nuzzling her cheek. He'd say that hers was a fair guess, "And how did it feel?" he asked her.
"Like..." Amy stopped, "Like nothing I've ever felt before... it was wonderful..." she unwrapped her legs from around his waist carefully and nuzzled his cheek, "How was I?" she asked softly.
"Incredible,” he said with a smile, "You were great, Amy." Returning the nuzzle and holding her tightly, Shadow felt better than he had in a long, long time. With a soft moan of pleasure, he slid out of her and lay beside her on the couch, still cuddling her.
Amy blushed and cuddled up to him again, continuing to stroke Shadow's back, even in the aftermath of their passion, "Shadow..." she said, uncertainly, "I... I think I love you."
"You love me?" Shadow asked, surprise on his face. He never thought that Amy had feelings like that for him. Obviously she cared, and the events of that night certainly... changed things, but it was still a surprise to the black and red hedgehog.
"Well, I think I do," Amy said, "I... I guess I've never really been in love before..." Clearly she was referring to her hopeless, and furthermore rather childish crush on Sonic.
"When you are in love with someone, really in love, you just know it,” Shadow told her, "You'll know the difference between a crush and the real thing." He kissed the tip of her nose and smiled.
"I know that this feels different," Amy admitted, "Much... nicer. Like it matters more to be with you than to get you."
Shadow's smile widened. "That sounds like love to me,” he whispered.
Amy nuzzled his neck, breathing in deeply, "I know something else too," she whispered in his ear. Shadow looked at her quizzically, and she answered, "This was one heckuva first date..."

The End
Harley: Well, that is a long one-shot!
Froggy: We have improved since ARAAT! Tell us how much. And remember, there’s not going to be more chapters. This is just a one-off for us to have a bit of a breather.
Behind My Eyes
