Alamogordo By Night
CHAPTER ONE
RED MOON
Alamogordo, New Mexico, was your average American city, until the Sabbat arrived into town. Who would have thought it would become a major focal point in the war between the Camarilla and Sabbat. The Camarilla and the Sabbat have been battling over centuries, and just about cover ever every bit of the world. Alamogordo had become a key to the Sabbat war effort to break the Camarilla’s increasing gain into Sabbat held territory. The Camarilla see it as the key to finally push the Sabbat back into Mexico.
I am Jack Griffith, and a member of the Sabbat and these are my accounts of those nights in Alamogordo. You have to be asking your self why I am writing this, well someone has to be able to remember what happens. Oh, did I tell you I am a vampire? Yes… I am not joking around… You see the Sabbat and the Camarilla are groups of vampire who believe in one idea. Oh, by the way, there are no good people or bad people, both the Sabbat and Camarilla believe that humans are nothing more than cattle. The Camarilla just have a nicer way in fucking you over than us Sabbat. Well that’s another story. We start our story around New Years Eve of 2005 in El Paso, Texas the gateway for the Sabbat.
EL Paso, Texas, the night was set for major parties, as the world counted down the final hours until the New Year . I arrived quietly in town with my pack the Elrond. The pack leader, Christanius Del Estes, is a fan of Lord of the Rings. He named his pack Elrond after the movie. We slowly moved to the old sector of the city, we were to meet with the local Sabbat in the city. We knew only one thing , we were ordered to head to Alamogordo at all speed. We made it to the old warehouse which served as communal haven.
“There it is boys! Fort Paso Communal Haven .” Christanius says as he a cigarette.
“Fuck it looks like a shit hole!” Nicholas said as he walked up beside Christanius. Nicholas Ashton is a smart ass Ventrue , who was brought into the world of darkness around the same time Nixon was elected as President of the United States. He is a normal looking Ventrue; he is six feet and zero inches, with long blonde hair with nice crystal blue eyes. He always dressed the part of the cold blooded killer, and packed a mean .45 caliber revolver loaded with wood filled rounds.
“It may be a fucking shit whole, but it’s our home!” A shallow voice echoed out from the darkness that crept around us. Nicholas along with the others of our pack quickly drew what ever weapon that they could easily grab. Our leader remained still and calm.
“I am the way into the Doleful city,” Christanius calmly called out to the shadows.
“I am the way into Eternal grief ,” the same shallow voice replied. I looked at Christanius and blinked twice when a smile formed on his face.
“I am the way to a Forsaken race.” Christanius replied baring the tattoo burnt into his chest. The tattoo bearing the mark of the Cardinal Strathcona.
“What took you so long Christanius? We’ve been waiting for you and your pack to get here. You should have been here hours ago.” A dark figure emerged from out of no where.
“Sorry Joe. We got detained on the way by some uninvited Lupines . They killed two of my pack mates, so you know I had to return the favor.” Christanius answered as he walked up to Joe, who by the way he looked and acted, could only be a Brujah.
“Sorry to hear that Christanius, those damn dogs need to be wiped out. We should hurry, the Archbishop doesn’t like to be kept waiting. You know how those Lasombra. Get when you keep them waiting.” Joe said chuckling.
They all slowly walked into the lobby of the old hospital. The front desk is manned by four ghouls armed with heavy assault rifles. The woman was dressed in a Nurse’s uniform. She was looking over medical files, as the three others watched small surveillance monitors. There were three corridors leading to other parts of the building, all sanitary. If you weren’t Sabbat you would think this was a fully working mental ward.
The more we moved into the building the more it changed into something other then a mental ward. The walls changed from brick to living flesh, red veins with blood running through them. The doors were made of human bone and steel. Then we all came up to two massive doors, guarded by two Blood Brothers.
“ Open the door boys,” Joe snarled softly at them. The Blood Brothers hastily started to open the doors up.
They all walked into the center of the building, which is a massive garden. There are four brass statues circling the garden, the statues all have engravings on them explaining the history of the Sabbat. The grass exchanged with living flesh, and the flowers are replaced with things not even the Garden of Eden had. To the north are five chairs crafted with human bone and flesh, and assembled at these five chairs are four bishops and the Archbishop of El Paso.
“ Welcome to El Paso brothers and sisters of Caine. I am Archbishop Selena. You are late brother Christanius, you should have been here hours ago. “Selena demanded as she walked over to Christanius.
“Your Excellency please forgive our delay in arrival. We were detained by a welcoming group of Lupines, who refused to accept our rain check on dinner.” Christanius explained using manners with a hint of tact.
“I see Brother Christanius, and did you honor your host with a tasteful blade?” Selena now amused asked as she poured her self a glass of wine. Christanius nodded his head twice and Nicholas walked up holding a large black trash bag. Nicholas opened the bag to reveal the severed heads of the Lupines. Selena chuckled softly, as a sinister grin formed on her pale lips.
“Brother Christanius do you know why you have been ordered to Alamogordo? “ A middle aged man asked walking out of the shadows. He was dressed in clothing of the era he was embraced in, which looked to be around the early 1900’s.
“Yes I am aware of my orders. We are to aid the siege already under way in Alamogordo. What I do not understand is why.” Christanius replied as he attempted to light a cigarette.
“The reason is simple, Alamogordo is the key to a clear road to Albuquerque. The Camarilla have seen this, and have set up camp in Alamogordo. We need to remove these Camarilla dogs from Alamogordo and your pack is needed to completed this task.” The same middle aged man replied.
“You don’t say. We will leave for Alamogordo tomorrow night then. Who are we to meet up with at Alamogordo?” Christanius replied turning his head he looked right at Jack. Jack noticed a hint of concern in Christanius expression. The others started to leave the meeting, only Christanius and Jack stayed behind.
Jack walked over to Christanius and placed his hand on his friends shoulder. Christanius lowered his head as Jack’s hand settled on his shoulder. Jack started to say something, but Christanius placed his hand on Jack mouth and shook his head.
“I know what you are about to ask me Jack. I do not like it very much, it smells like they aren’t telling us everything. They never really tell us everything, but this feels very troublesome . We must be very careful Jack, this could turn out to be all our worst nightmare.” Christanius finally said as he removed his hand from Jack’s lips, then walked away leaving Jack alone in the garden.
