*Author’s Note: This is my first Kingdom Hearts Story!!! Yay!!! I hope you all like this!!! I really enjoyed the idea when I came up with it!!! I am really excited about this!!!
*Disclaimer: I do not own Kingdom Hearts and I do not own the song “Missing”, Evanescence does.
*Summary: Kairi is having a bit of a Sora with drawl and can’t help thinking she’s lost him forever. A strange dream has been plaguing her about Sora for a few weeks now and it concerns him slowly fading into the shadows of the black abyss. Will Sora ever return to her like he had promised or will he drown in the shadows of darkness?
Missing
Please, please forgive me,
But I won’t be home again
Maybe someday you’ll have woke up,
And, barely conscious, you’ll say to no one:
"Isn’t something missing? "
“Kairi remember what you said before? I’m always with you too, I’ll come back to you, I promise…”
‘No, Sora don’t let go! I need you, please!!! Don’t let go!!!’ Kairi screamed inside her head as she felt her hand agonizingly slip from Sora’s grasp. She knew he would keep his word, he always did. There was no reason not to trust Sora. “I KNOW YOU WILL!!!” The girl cried before letting the grip cease. She watched as the brunet boy reached out for her one last time and felt her heart fall to her feet…Would she ever see him again? She watched, in that same spot, as her island came floating back down from the skies in shimmering orbs. Kairi took one last look into the heavens before turning her head and sighing. Sora was gone…
“Kairi…”
The whisper was so soft she could barely hear it. But she turned her head to the secret passage to the hidden grotto. Nothing was there. A chill ran down her spine and she stared for a moment longer before moving on.
“Kairi…”
Spinning on her heals, the red-haired teen glared in the same direction only to find that this time Sora stood there with his hand stretched out to her. “Sora!!!” She called while running to him as fast as she could. Just before she approached the boy she watched him fall into distress as a black abyss began to swallow him whole. The boy reached out more frantically. Kairi felt her eyes begin to water, “NO!!! SORA!!!” She yelled as she extended her arm to grasp him…but by then…. it was too late…
00oo00oo00oo00oo00oo00oo
“Sora!!!” Kairi woke with a start. Her hands gripped her light lavender sheets so that her knuckles turned a brilliant white. She was shaky all over and felt beads of sweat run down her forehead. It was too realistic…too hard to accept…she began to weep.
You won’t cry for my absence, I know –
You forgot me long ago
Am I that unimportant...?
Am I so insignificant...?
Isn’t something missing?
Isn’t someone missing me?
She couldn’t stay, couldn’t stay in her bed lazily waiting for Sora to be swallowed up and killed. What if her dream really wasn’t a dream at all? He could be standing there, fighting for his life right now. Kairi jumped out of bed and dressed.
It seemed calm. The moon was high in the sky and the sea was lazy. It was eerily quiet for her liking. Making past the boat docks, she quickened her pace and jogged over to the cave entrance. Nothing…
“Kairi…”
She gazed upon the entrance and felt inclined to enter…like a force was pulling her in. She accepted and entered. Kairi braced herself for the worst but hopped for the best. When she finally made it into the heart of the cave, there was nothing. Nothing but the pictures on the rocks and the skylight…and that ever-menacing door. She walked over to the picture of her and Sora sharing the paupu fruit. Kneeling down she ghosted her fingers across it and closed her eyes, imagining what Sora might think of it. She began to cry…
Even though I’d be sacrificed,
You won’t try for me, not now
Though I’d die to know you love me,
I’m all alone
Isn’t someone missing me?
“Kairi, you can’t keep this up…it isn’t healthy.” The red-haired girl turned to see her best friend standing behind her with a worried look on her face. Kairi got up and ran to her. “It was real this time…too real. He called my name Selphie!!! It sounded like it was right in my ear!!!” The hysterical teen grabbed her friend’s shoulders and pleaded with her eyes. “Kairi it’s always real!!! I’ve accepted the fact that Riku is gone, why can’t you accept Sora’s absence?”
“Selphie please, I’m not crazy!!!” Kairi spoke through sobs. “No you’re delusional!!!” The brunette teen watched as her friend dropped to her knees and began to sob uncontrollably. “Please, he needs my help and he’s calling out to me!!! He could be dying for all I know!!!” Selphie squatted down to comfort her haunted friend. “How many times have you known Sora to break a promise?” Kairi looked up to the green-eyed teen and stared. ‘Maybe Selphie’s right, maybe I am overreacting…but what about my dream? It has to mean something…Sora…I love you.’ Selphie stood up straight and extended her hand to Kairi. She helped her up and started to make her way out of the cave. Begrudgingly, the red-haired teen did the same but…she couldn’t help one last glance over her shoulder. THERE!!!! SORA!!! HE WAS STANDING THERE WITH HIS HAND STRETCHED OUT FOR HER!!! Kairi watched as his lips moved but she couldn’t hear anything. Her eyes teared up again and she reached for the boy, “Please…Sora…Stop playing with me…” With that she turned and ran out of the cavern crying silent tears. She left too soon to hear the whisper… “Kairi…I love you…”
Please, please forgive me,
But I won’t be home again
I know what you do to yourself,
I breathe deep and cry out:
"Isn’t something missing?
Isn’t someone missing me? "
His body was aching; it felt as if his muscles were unraveling, and his bones shattering. Sora was exhausted. All he really wanted to do was go home and lay on the beach; put his feet in the water and forget all about the Keyblade. All he wanted was to go back to Kairi… A Shadow heartless lunged at him and he did a back flip to dodge its attack. Usually these little creatures were fairly easy to beat…but with time they had learned a couple new tricks and in large groups they were excruciatingly difficult. He looked over at his comrades; they looked just as weary as he felt. Abruptly, Sora’s world began to spin…he couldn’t see straight. This is when he felt he needed Kairi the most, when he was running on fumes. He loved her, he’d always loved her but he wondered if she even knew…
Even though I’d be sacrificed,
You won’t try for me, not now
Though I’d die to know you love me,
I’m all alone
Isn’t someone missing me?
Sora tried to clear his head and focus his vision, no such luck. He watched as it seemed like three shadow heartless headed straight for him. He swung the Keyblade too soon and was knocked back, shaking his balance. Holding his head, Sora inhaled, trying to calm his nerves. Just as he looked up again a grotesque Gargoyle heartless lifted him into the air. With his body beginning to shut down, Sora’s hand let the Keyblade slip from his fingertips. He didn’t know what he was in for but what came next was far beyond his knowledge. As the Gargoyle held him restrained in the air an Invisible heartless came flying at the Keyblade Master, weapon ready… A long fall back down and immensely, indescribable pain left Sora lying on the cold, hard ground…bleeding…mortally wounded…
And if I bleed, I’ll bleed,
Knowing you don’t care
And if I sleep just to dream of you
And wake without you there,
Isn’t something missing?
Isn’t something...
This was it…this is how it would end… The Keyblade master was defeated. His blood stained the ground and his heart began to break. He had broken his promise to Kairi…he’d deceived her. He deserved to die. He was just as heartless as the creatures he hunted…now he was paying for it. Averting his eyes, he noticed the keyblade lie not far from reach but he couldn’t move his arm. He coughed and a scarlet substance ran down his chin…at least he had died fighting…
“Kairi…I love you…”
Sora could rest now; he let his blue-eyes slip shut…one last time…
Even though I’d be sacrificed,
You won’t try for me, not now
Though I’d die to know you love me,
I’m all alone
Isn’t something missing?
Isn’t someone missing me…?
All had gone deathly quiet…Donald and Goofy kneeled beside their fallen friend. The heartless had gone and left them to mourn. Why stay, their job was done. Goofy silently picked up the keyblade and placed it in Sora’s hand. The two spared parties nodded in a soundless agreement. They began to walk away to retrieve help…little did they notice the glowing of the keyblade…was it truly the end of the Keyblade Master?
Though I’d die to know you love me,
I’m all alone
Isn’t something missing?
Isn’t someone missing me…?
~End~
*Author’s Note: Okay, I think that was a little more depressing than I had intended it to be, but hey I’m not complaining, I think it came out rather nicely!!! Well, now it’s your turn to tell me what you thought of it!!! Thanks to you all for reading and don’t forget to review!!!
