Glast Heim's Advance

Author Notes: I wrote this first chapter through like 1~3 AM, and I'm really sleepy. :P Hopefully there's a minimum amount of spelling/grammar errors. This story mainly involves generic RO characters fighting monsters; they're all based the on characters of me and my friends. I'm not going very deep into character development in this first chapter- mainly setting. I'm going to go deep into character development in chapter 2, and probably turn this into an NC-17 fic. :P Oh, this is AU because this would never ever actually happen in RO. Reviews wanted and appreciated, flames or not. Oh, and the seemingly useless character development late in the story will later on be given use later :P

"SMASH!!" echoed through the streets. A child looked out a window of his house, terrified as he saw a giant scythe fly into the ground and blow it apart like a cookie; the stone flying everywhere. Platoons of knights ran at the tall, goat-like demon holding the scythe. The demon snarled, and left them limbless in mere seconds. It stomped through the town, demolishing buildings and killing innocent vendors with a lazy swing. Blood painted his body, and he let out a hellish scream toward the skies.

This demon was Baphomet, king of Glast Heim.. the sort of monster from a fairy-tale. Behind him was his legion of shambling corpses and wraiths, following his every order without a word. The whole town of Prontera was aflame, and the screams of peasants filled the air. The crusaders were all wiped out, and the town was left defenseless. In a quarter of a day, the town was completely totaled; the only survivors being the brothers Legaunt and Pyralis, both young children.

17 years later....

Prontera became the next Glast Heim: the place no one dares mention. The Izludites ran to Payon, as their town was quickly engulfed by Prontera. Glast Heim and Prontera sandwiched Geffen, forcing the civillians to run south as far as they could, and they now took residency in Morroc- they were kept away from Payon, where the Church now rested. Every town north of Prontera was easily destroyed.

Legaunt was now 22, and becoming a Wizard. Not quite one yet, though- it wasn't rare he would fail at casting even low class spells, time to time. He wore the typical brown robes Mages normally wear, and had long, flowing silver hair. Pyralis was a 21 year old Knight, training as a swordsman since 7. He wore a suit of armor given to true knights, and had short brown hair. They decided to live in seperate towns, using themselves as peace treaties to stop the magicians and priests from getting into wars. Payon and Morroc were quite large now- the Pyramid and Sphinx outside Morroc were destroyed, and Morroc ate up the now free land. Eventually, they took all of the desert as their town, and built walls around it. Payon spread out across the whole forest it used to be but a small part of, also walled itself off from surroundings. Every brick of Payon's wall was blessed by the High Priests, and every brick of Morroc's wall was given a mantra of protection by the smartest Sages- both walls were extremely strong, and not even the mightiest group of monsters could break through them.

Almost every child was raised as a combatant, for once every year or two, the legions of darkness would mass its forces and rush both towns. Legaunt and Pyralis were creating a sodality of the most elite fighters of the towns, known as the Crystal Sledge- every member of it donning a gray mask covering their noses down. Consisting of 500 elite soldiers, they were to infiltrate Izlude and destroy its leader, Khalitzburg, very soon. While focusing on Izlude's invaders, the armies of Morroc and Payon were going to rush to Geffen and rid it of its ruler, Dark Lord. Then- they were going to strike Prontera from both southeast and west.

After long, long days of the brave Crystal Sledge saying their goodbyes to friends and loved ones, it was finally the day. That day, they were to go to capture Izlude, and Legaunt meets with Pyralis again for the first time in half a year.

The angels cried, as showed by the torrent that fell worldwide that day- even in the hot region Morroc occupied, they were drenched with rain. The Crystal Sledge walked out of Morroc and Payon, their heads held high and rivalries between the two towns completely ignored. The priests and wizards walked hand in hand, as did the rogues and knights. There was no time for any of it, because they all knew it was a fight all had to work together to win.. a fight for humanity.

Legaunt laid his eyes upon Pyralis; a fond sight. He walked up to him, and shook his hand. They enjoyed their time together, and they knew they were going to succeed in taking back Izlude. They didn't use words, but eachothers' eyes let them know their masks were betraying smiles. They marched toward Izlude along the coastline, avoiding scouts of Prontera. They were almost there, and they already saw vicious, armored monsters begin to come out of the gates of the now-walled town. The Crystal Sledge started to run at them- they were going to strike with all of their anger and fear.

Pyralis led the pack as they charged, tearing through the demonic footsoldiers like shrubs. The town's first defenses were surrounded and wiped out in minutes, with all of the Crystal Sledge still alive. They rushed into the gates, their eyes filled with furious anger and weapons stained with blood. If it was possible for the legions of darkness to feel fear, the ones in Izlude were feeling it that day.

The air was filled with screams of humans and demons, with a significant amount more of the latter. All one could see was rain pouring, spells striking the ground from the heavens, and whatever was directly in front of you. Corpses sprinkled the streets. Every house was aflame from the inside. Pyralis lost track of how many lives he took himself at 50.

Eventually, Pyralis was faced by Khalitzburg- the re-animated corpse of a giant in red, extremely heavy armor. It held a longsword in each hand, and made the ground shake with each step it took. It raised its arms and sliced at Pyralis maniacally. Pyralis withstood slashes to his shoulder, chest and a gash across his face before he managed to back off several yards. As Khalitzburg was readying to attack once more, its left arm was blown off by a barrage of white streaks of light. Pyralis realized he heard Legaunt's voice yelling a battle cry, and he felt rejuvenated regardless of blood pouring out of his cheek and forehead.

He ran towards Khalitzburg as the large dead body started to turn to Legaunt- he spoke a holy incantation and his sword glowed white. As it raised its right arm to strike Legaunt, Pyralis pierced its armor and drove his sword right through its heart- it let out an otherworldly cry and began to twitch suspended on the blade, its body being filled with holy light. White mist poured out its empty eyesockets as its body decentigrated, leaving Pyralis eye to eye with Legaunt with only red armor on the ground between them; both of them sported a victorious, yet devilish look in their eyes. They then spread and helped pick off the remaining resistance.

The battle went by very quick, and within half an hour, Izlude was rid of everything black-hearted that resided in it. Prontera's view blinded by the rain and fog in the distance between it and Izlude left them clueless to what happened, at least for now. No less than 450 or so of the Crystal Sledge fled across the field south of Prontera, rushing to help the armies now invading Geffen. While running, Pyralis again led, but now with Legaunt by his side. he was very glad to see he was still alive, but he knew he wasn't going to die that easily, anyway.

"Are you ready, Legaunt?" Pyralis, whom now had light bandages over his wounds, asked his friend. "I couldn't be less ready. I'm going to pour all of my soul into this fight." Legaunt said in a fierce voice.

The armies of Morroc and Payon were invading Geffen through the north and east entrances, led by High Priestess Aria (with beautiful long, blonde hair) and Rogue Guild leader, Michael (wearing black Rogue clothes, with spiky black hair). They were frightened by how compact it was colonized- it was going to be a hell of a fight. Geffen Tower was demolished, with a giant throne in its place. As they entered the city, the soldiers there panicked. Their leader, Dark Lord, was in Glast Heim attending business there.. leaving them to fight on their own.

There were countless enemy troops here, and the battle looked like it was going to be a long one. Each exit of Geffen was secured by several hundred soldiers, not going to let anything out.

With the Dark Lord gone, the evil legion relied upon a new leader- the Abysmal Knight, another re-animated giant. It sat atop a demonic horse known as a Nightmare, and could plow through inexperienced soldiers with its ridiculously long sword. Aria searched for it, and finally met it face to face.

She looked up at it and drew her mace, intent on destroying it. She started banishing it from the realm of the living with a prayer, but in vain- something kept it there, and it charged at Aria, knocking her down. As she struggled to get up, she looked up and saw herself surrounded with dead bodies, just staring down upon her, with eyeless, rotting faces pitying her. The Abysmal Knight's Nightmare kept her down with its hooves, and the evil knight started to leave deep gashes in her with his blade.

While blood seeped out of her wounds, he looked at his troops and gave them a devilish smile. "Burn her alive." it said, in a voice one would think the Devil would have. They dragged her off to a tower as she constantly let out blood-curdling screams. Her screams filled the Abysmal Knight with joy, as it smiled from ear to ear. It slid off of its steed, got down and tasted blood from the trail Aria left behind.

After what seemed like an eternity of bloodshed, the Crystal Sledge finally arrived and made a breathtaking entrance, wiping out a few hundred enemy soldiers without too much effort. The battle raged on, and the amount of troops on both sides were about even.

Michael searched desperately for something, running through the streets of Geffen and glancing inside every building that wasn't destroyed. Eventually, he heard the scream of Aria in a tower.

He ran in, and saw Aria's body lying on hay, mildly burnt; it looked like they were planning on this process taking a very long time. The dead troops just watched her writhe in pain, not noticing Michael. He felled them all in mere seconds with his dagger and dizzying speed, and quickly got on his knees. He held Aria in his arms as he cried- she was fatally wounded and he didn't know any healing spells. She only smiled at him, and slowly slipped away with closure that she had been saved by him.

Pyralis and Legaunt were fighting together, obliterating countless troops. Legaunt never failed to cast a spell while he was with his friend, and Pyralis managed to ignore any wounds he got. They were a two-man army, and knew they were safe with eachother. Suddenly, they heard a large crash. They both looked to their backs, and they saw a small, dead child reading a scroll. A giant ghastly samurai, a Kodachi in each hand, hovered above him, and was obviously doing the child's bidding. It was the Incantation Samurai, a monster that was suppedly nothing but a myth from Amatsu.

It lashed out at Legaunt and Pyralis very slowly, with horrible aim- it was no large feat to avoid it. Between every attack the spirit made, Pyralis struck the child with his sword and Legaunt pounded him with magic. After a long, drawn-out battle, the child finally fell. Pitch black blood seeped out of his mouth, and the scroll he was reading burnt up in a black fire.

They helped the troops once more, and they were definitely on the winning side of the battle- it had nearly been won. Pyralis came across the Abysmal Knight, who gave him an evil gaze and got away much faster than Pyralis could run. It easily broke through the human soldiers blocking the west exit; it was going back to Glast Heim.

The human soldiers left no stone unturned in their search for remaining survivors, and left the area completely clean of the monsters. About a thousand normal troops and 300 or so Crystal Sledge members held their fists high into the air and let out a warcry. Tonight, all of the leaders were going back to Payon and Morroc to get more troops and tell of their success. Pyralis and Legaunt were looking forward to celebrating their victory over alcohol that night.
