By Sailor Poison and Seraphim-Sephiroth

Part One

Kyo didn’t expect his cruise to go so wrong. He just wanted to have a nice relaxing trip on his way to a King of Fighters tournament. Kyo had been fighting them for a very long time. Each time he was faced with Iori. Each time, despite the pain, he beat Iori. How the red head tried to kill him each time...

Their rivalry was legendary in some sense. Kyo never hated Iori. Iori seemed to hate him so much; he followed him to each tournament and fought to near death. Or so it seemed. They never spoke much outside the fights. After years, Kyo found that Iori, in some twisted way, was a needed factor in his life. He felt a strange connection with the volatile fighter.

Kyo wanted to have a fun trip to the current fights, and thought a cruise would be great… or so he thought. The cruise was taken over by pirates and most of the passengers were left in lifeboats on the ocean. Being the great guy he was, mind you this was his opinion, he had to stay onboard and stop them.

Kyo did a great job, till a bomb was set off. That pretty much left Kyo in middle of the ocean trying to not drown. The pain in his left arm hinted that maybe it was broken. There went this year’s tournament. The fighter never even considered the idea that he might drown or never be found. That was just not perceivable.

The brunette fighter floated in the ocean on a simple inflated raft. As the tide took him, he found the sun an overbearing presence on his body. He lay on the raft, his shirt made into a simple sling for his arm. Kyo lost track of time as he drifted in and out. Soon before he knew it, night had come. The night was chilly but easier to sleep through. Dawn came as he felt the raft was no longer bumping into something. Kyo opened his eyes to see he landed on the beach of some island.

Where was he? Did anyone know he was still alive?

Meanwhile………

A towering redhead stood at the entrance to the King of Fighter’s tournament. His dark crimson eyes were narrowed in impatience, as if he had been standing there in that same spot all day, glaring at the blue ocean horizon off in the distance. His long powerful arms slid over his broad exposed chest as he crossed them. A cold smirk trailed up his snake-like lips as the day was growing shorter and the tournament would start soon.

“Where is that little ingrate!?” He exclaimed as he stormed to the side, frightening a few people who were grabbing last-minute tickets.

“U-um.. Mr. Yagami.. You’ll be up soon and uh...” a meek little voice came from behind him.

The towering fiery man stun around, shooting a dagger-like glare at the small King of Fighters Staff member, “What is it!?”

The little man stepped back slightly, fearing the ravenous man would rip him to shreds, “Y-your opponent Mr. Kusanagi has not shown up and...”

The Yagami’s crimson eyes widened fiercely, a spark ofme dme dancing across his bloody scarlet irises as he snatched the little man by the collar and lifted him up off the ground, roaring in his face, “What do you mean he hasn’t shown up!?”

“A-ah! … His, his ship! His ship was lost contact with, M-mr. Yagami! N-near the archipelago ju-just s-south of here!!” the little man squealed, stammering up a storm.

The flame-haired man threw the staff member to the side violently, his little body slamming up against a trashcan. Iori’s fists trembled with rage as he grit his teeth, “Lost at sea? H-argh! That bumbling idiot! Leave it to him to go and pull some shit like this! He’s supposed to fight me!!!” The fire inside him began to spark and erupt into a maelstrom of heat that blazed in purple flames from the palms of his hands... He turned his head up and let loose a primal scream that echoed throughout the city and horizon, “KUSANAGIII!!!!!!!!”

Kyo was just done exploring the island. Of all the places, this was indeed a paradise. The lush jungle provided fruit. Fruit? They ranged from bananas to coconuts and berries. It took quite a bit to walk around the island itself. Near the center was a lagoon where he could get water. There were some animals, but the fishing was ideal. All a man needed for a vacation.

Kyo even found a small cave to set up his shelter. This was maybe for the best, as he had to keep one arm in a sling.

Kyo lay next to a cooking fire with no shirt on, using his jacket as a pillow as some sand was sprinkled upon his black pants. His fish was frying on a fire he created with his own flaming fists. This was maybe the best break ever. Though he felt a little bad about not making the tournament. Maybe people might have expected him to be there...

This brought up thoughts of Iori. Would Iori notice he was gone? He felt a strange butterfly effect in his stomach from this. Why should he feel weird about Iori?! The guy was crazy as hell and... He missed him. The tournament was only real excuse on seeing the fiery Redhead. That was only thing that truly made this paradise feel not so great. For a moment he swore he could hear his name being hollered by a very angry Iori.

Kyo pawed the air, “Naw....” He shook his head as he went back to frying his fish.

Kyo enjoyed his fish as he watched the sun slowly start to sink. The clouds were forming together and coming closer as it hinted a storm. Probably a good thing he got to the cave. His mind went from the gray and black clouds to Iori as he tried to imagine him fighting in the tournament.

Iori was indeed his greatest foe. He always left him in pain and wounded but Kyo never let that stop him from winning. What drove him to such? It was as if part of him was trying to prove something not to the world… but to Iori. In fact, he didn’t care about what he won in the fights. He just cared about overcoming the best... Overcoming the angry redhead.

Flashes of lightening were followed by rolls of thunder… Almost enough to shake his teeth. What a strong vibe it was, that left him feeling alive. He stood up and just for a moment he felt the electricity in the air… Wishing Iori was able to feel this as well.

“Out of my way!” The enraged Yagami shouted at the people who were blocking his path as he rushed down the city-streets heading straight for the docks.

“Sir! The docks are closed, Sir! Hey! You Can’t...” A security guard tried to fend the towering man off with a nightstick… Only for it to be snapped in half as Iori snatched it from the guard cutting him off and tossed it back at him before punching the poor man to the ground violently and knocking him out in the process.

Iori snarled furiously, “If he thinks he’s getting out of this that easy, he has another thing coming!” as he turned his bright crimson eyes up to the darkening sky.. Seeing a storm brewing above... He smirked mockingly, “And yet the fates conspire against me… No matter!” He declared as he thundered across the rickety docks, looking for a suitable boat to pilfer.

“Look, look! There he is!” A few city-folk pointed towards the Yagami as a few police officers hopped off their cycles.

Iori darted his blazing gaze to the approaching law enforcers, who drew their guns at him, “Hold it right there!”

The maroon-haired man grit his teeth in a low growl as he hadn’t the time or patience for this. He stood upright and lifted his hands up flat in the air as if he were surrendering.

“Yeah, that’s right; just keep your hands in the air! Make it easier on yourself!” The officers exclaimed towards him, walking up to him with their guns still pointed at him.

Iori began to snicker icily, much to the confusion to the cops who attempted to handcuff him... “What the hell!?” One of the officers shouted in shock as the palms of the Yagami’s hands burst into purple flames... “SHI-NE!” The Yagami roared out as he thrust a wave of bright purple fire into the faces of the cops.

“Shit! Those are Yagami Flames!”
“It’s Iori Yagami!!”

The officers scrambled to get away, firing shots at Iori, as one was snatched by the hem of his uniform by the enraged beast and tossed head over heals engulfed in purple fire into the torrenting ocean. The others were knocked off their shoes by an explosion of those violent flames that shot down at their feet from the claw-like hands of the fierce Yagami… shattering the dock they were once standing upon.. The rest of the cops fell into the freezing water as rain from above began to drizzle down.

A maniacal smile crawled up Iori’s serpent-like lips at the damage he had done, and quickly swiped a vessel for his own. The Yagami used his keen skills to hot-wire the powerful speedboat and revved it up, before taking off into the choppy dark waters.

Kyo was forced to go into shelter as the storm hit his island. The rain fell in heavy sheets outside as Kyo sat inside his dry shelter. This was a little more boring. Kyo sighed as he lay on the cave floor using a makeshift pillow made of leaves and grass.

He could be facing the best, fists against fists right now. He almost could see the battles going on… Iori, in his mind, beating them all because he was not there. It was all right though. Iori should be. But Kyo contented himself with pretending he was. Fighting them all. Even beating Iori and having adoration of the crowds.

But even in his mind the adoration felt hollow. It was just no longer a real thrill anymore. He wondered if anyone did miss him about now. He had friends, but he suspected they went on with the fight not thinking twice about his absence.

It was kind of sad that maybe only his archenemy was going to get upset with him not being there. Maybe he would even throw a fit. That was satisfying to thinking of.... Someone getting bent out of shape because Kyo was not there.

Kyo looked outside. For the first time he gave a consideration to his current problem. He had no boat and no radio. In all sense, unless someone found him, he could be here for a while. Though instead of becoming depressed, he began to imagine himself as Robinson Caruso.

That was a rather delightful train of thought. He was the brave explorer of this island! He shall get to know everything possible about the island. He had fantasies of a rather fancy tree house, which he could run the whole island from, drifting through his head. If anyone came, he would show them his hospitality. The idea was quite foolish, as he had no carpentry skills. But the dreams and fantasies were indeed cheerfully fun to ponder. With his mind so preoccupied, Kyo fell asleep.

Iori found himself becoming irritatingly frustrated as the unforgiving waters thrashed his speedboat back and forth… The rain stinging his eyes and soaking him to the bone. Lightning blistered through he dark billowing sky as the waves crashed against the boat mercilessly.. "Arggh.. Damn you, Kusanagi.. The shit I go through to exterminate you!" he screamed out, his voice distorting in the loud claps of thunder and roaring waves as the boat speeded through the sea.. Slamming into wave after wave, as the Yagami determinedly kept the boat as stable as possible... Fighting against the storm like he fought against every last one of his opponents... He slashed and clawed his way through them... One after another to get to the one he had been destined to fight for centuries... Their battle carved in stone... A legendary rivalry that would end with one of them dead by the other's hand...

Iori knew he could never be the first to fall... He could never let himself die due to this fight that rested between He... Iori the Yagami... And Kyo the Kusanagi... He'd be damned to let that weakling win! He would face him till his body became old and frail... He would never submit to defeat... Kyo... The boy he had been pursuing for all these years would meet his maker through his claw-like hands. In a way, this was all he had to live for... This was his only purpose in life... To defeat the Kusanagi... Afterwards he would have no meaning... In a small part of his mind, he pondered if he was TRUELY trying to defeat the Kusanagi.. For he had that daunting revelation.. That when he defeated Kyo.. There would no longer be any purpose for Iori Yagami.. To live.. Iori made it a point to live forever.. He held dear to his life.. Death was for the weak.. And he would have none of it!

Even with the Orochi flames coursing throughout his body.. Draining him of sanity every single day.. He would never submit to death! Yet he had been told of the Yagami of old.. That every one had died at a young age.. Their violent life-style had led them all to their deaths before they ever reached the ripe age of thirty.. Iori snarled at the thought.. Nothing would stop him! Nothing would ever kill him! He was the greatest of all Yagami.. He would change their history and live forever! He was absolutely determined to live on.. And not let anything stop him.. Especially this godforsaken storm!!

The sun was rising as Kyo noted his fire had died down. He had a strange sense of somet or or someone significant was close by. But that was impossible. He was alone on this tropical paradise. Speaking of Paradise, it was time to get food.

Kyo did his business outside and set about gathering fruit for his breakfast. Fruit was an important part of any meal!

Kyo moved around the jungle with his arm still in a sling. It made acquiring fruit a little harder then for most people. This was just another challenge to him. Kyo simply placed the fruit inside the sling with his arm like a basket. That solved breakfast. Kyo found a comfortable spot on the beach, using his coat to shield his food from the sand as he watched the sun rise more. The fresh sea air tickled his nose. What a morning! Kyo felt rather good about himself.

There was something about lying on the beach of a perfect island in the morning. It was a refreshing, revitalizing experience. It made him almost feel reborn. There were few people whom he was wishing to share this. Yet, he felt this place lacked something.. Or someone. He couldn’t put a finger on which person he wished...

Iori, who hated him to no end and might someday bring about one of their deaths, would probably laugh at this. It was just a silly sunrise on a beach. But for Kyo it was a special sunrise on an untouched beach.

Kyo decided to begin his new carrier as an explorer of the island after he had eaten most of the fruit. He left his coat with some fruit left on top on the beach as the fighter went more inland, to see what else the island had to offer.

The waterlogged Yagami coughed and hacked up the salty sea that had drowned into his lungs, attempting to suffocate the determined fiery beast. He would not have any of this, as he lay over the side of his boat that rocked back and forth in the calming ocean.. The sun was rising and scorning him for his life-threatening trek through the violent ocean that had threatened to swallow him. In the end, Iori had fought till he was left panting.. Yet even with being half-drown and looking like a furious cat out of water.. A maniacal grin still plastered upon his fearsome face.. His crimson eyes widened with that maddening look.. He had beaten the storm. He was invincible! He was Iori Yagami! The Riot of Blood!

The fearless man hacked up the last remnants of seawater in his lungs and hissed at the sun as it bathed over him.. Warming him up from the frigid water that had made him sopping. His blurry vision cleared with the rays of light and he could have sworn he saw something ... that.. Looked.. Like.. Land? He shot up from his hunched position over the side of the boat, whipping large droplets of water from his dark maroon hair, and quickly went to the helm of his boat, trying to start it up.. "Come on.. Come on you piece of garbage!!" He screamed at it as the engine wheezed and choked from all the water that it had taken in..

Iori's frustration was growing by the second as he kept trying to start it up, "Damn you infernal contraption!!" He beat his fist into the steering wheel, making a large dent in it and sighed heavily to himself.. With starting the boat out of the question, he knew swimming would be the last option.. The Yagami swallowed down a shout of profanity and grabbed a rope.. Tying it to the boat.. Before standing at the bow of the vessel.. He raised a large flat hand to his dark brows, visoring the sun from his sensitive eyes, looking towards the lush island in the middle of the archipelago. In his highly intelligent mind, he calculated just how far away the land was, and how much energy it would take to swim there ... He took in a deep cleansing breath, tying the end of the rope to his belt and dove into the clear cerulean water, and began to stroke towards the land, towing the boat behind him.. While spouting curse after curse at the Kusanagi he was pursuing.

It was not long before the creatures of the sea noticed the helpless and rather sculpted muscular human swimming in the middle of the dark ocean all alone, and decided that the Yagami's body would provide a tasty meal. Iori swam and swam, spitting the salty water out of his mouth with each long stroking stride.. His long legs and arms gave him a powerful advantage in the clear-blue sea. Iori grunted in shock as he felt something beat up against his chest, "The.. Hell? .. H-awk!!" He grunted out-loud as sharp serrated teeth ripped into his pants-leg and attempted to drag him down.. Iori sucked in a breath as his blood dispersed out all around him and he was dunked under the water by the thrashing of a shark, trying to rip his leg off. Iori's rage only burned brighter as he opened his eyes under the water, holding his breath as he kicked the shark in the eye with his free foot, knocking it to the side and dislodging it from his leg.

The shark did not seem to give up that easily, and the blood in the water was soon to attract others... The large reef-shark rammed into Iori, head-butting him in the chest and gnashed its gleaming white teeth at him, shredding his clothes. Yet it did not get far enough to graze his flesh as a bright violet light sparked out into the water, and Iori's scalding fist thrust directly into the shark's gills, piercing its thick skin and killing it instantly.. The Yagami swam to the surface, gasping for air and began to swim as fast as he could, dragging the boat behind him.. His leg was bleeding, leaving a trail for other predators to follow.. Yet he hoped they would find the body of the shark far more appealing than himself..

The waves surrounding the beach dunked him under, nearly causing the boat to swift forward and knock him out.. Yet still he moved forward, diving in and out of the water like a crazed fiend. Determined not to stop for anything. Before he knew it.. His large hand clawed up onto damp land, and the boat he was towing slid up next to him, docking itself into the sand. Iori laid there for a few moments and the water lapped up against his body.. His face rested on the sand.. His chest heaving from his loss of blood and absolute exhaustion.. No! He had to get up! He could not rest.. Iori the Yagami Never Rests!

He clenched his teeth and pushed himself up, staggering to his feet... The boat thankfully was supplied with a first-aid box, and he promptly bandaged his leg.. The blood seeped through the white adhesives and blotted the blood from flowing any further. Iori's hair was full of sand and pieces of seaweed draped off of him everywhere.. He took off his shoes and dumped the water out of them, seeing a small shrimp fall out of them and flop about on the sand.. Iori was starting to think this was a mistake.. Yes, JUST starting.. Yet he shook his head..

He had his destiny to fulfill, and a bumbling moron to crush. He placed his hand on his hips as his dark crimson eyes scanned the beach and the lush forest ahead of him.. He paused, doing a double-take as he spotted something dark on the beach ... it looked like.. Could it be? Kyo's body!? It didn't seem to be moving.. And for a moment he felt a horrible sinking feeling.. His flesh paling... "Kusanagi.." He pushed himself to run towards the object, his leg throbbing with every step, causing him to bleed more and more through his bandages.. He came to a stop at the jacket.. He panted heavily, heaving as he bent down and picked it up.. He smelled it, scenting the Kusanagi's unmistakable stench..

He looked around for any sign of his body, "Kusanagi! Come out you weakling! You think you're getting out of this that easy!?" His voice was hoarse and did not carry very far ... he muttered a few more curses as his hands trembled holding the Kusanagi's coat.. His blood stained the sand and he shook his head.. Kyo could not be dead! Iori was the one to bring about his demise! Not some blasted shipwreck! And with that he took off into the forest to scour it, clutching the Kusanagi's coat in his grasp, using his sharp eyes and senses to seek the boy out.

Kyo hadn’t been wandering for too long. The inner parts of the island were like a jungle. The lush plants were making it a little hard to move around. Yet it was so beautiful. There were green plants with some brilliant flowers here and there. The occasional birds. The birds were amazingly dazzling colors. Reds, blues, greens and yellows. It was as if god had made this island just for him. The air filled with the fragrance of the flowers. Exotic smells that tickled his nose.

But Kyo sensed he wasn’t alone. He had a sense of danger in front of him and behind him. The one before him was a strange alien feeling. But one behind him was familiar. So, Kyo decided to see who or what was behind him. It was a dance with the devil one knew or whatever.

Kyo stood to the side in some thick plants as he tried to see what or who it was. It took him a moment to realize it was human. The red hair was a mess as the man looked like a drowned cat, still with sand and blood on his ces. es. The blood was what caught his eyes. Why was Iori here? And what the hell happened to him?

Kyo stepped out into plain sight then. There was no reason to hide from Iori, even though he knew the redhead wanted him dead. Well, by his hands anyway. But Kyo never really wanted to kill Iori...

Kyo looked very surprised, “Iori? You’re the last person I would expect to find here.”

Iori tensed up sharply, his shoulders hiking up as his brow twitched at the ear-splitting irritating sound of the Kusanagi's voice.. To anyone else, Kyo's voice was quite pleasant.. He was actually a really wonderful singer as well.. Having played the role as backup singer to Iori in his band, back when a truce was held between them. Yet to the Yagami.. Kyo's voice was like a piercing dagger to his fragile ears. He spun around in a fury, his blazing eyes looking over his broad shoulder before he turned completely, locking those monstrous crimson eyes upon the delicate raven-haired man. He was okay.. Kyo seemed absolutely fine.. Not only that, but seemed his happy carefree self as well.. This would not do! Iori went through guns, storms, sharks, and vital dehydration.. And Kyo barely even had a scratch on him?!?!

Iori looked as if he had been from hell and back.. His clothes shred in ribbons hanging off him.. Nicks and scratches all over his exposed chest... his leg bandaged yet overflowing with his dark blood.. It took a massive amount of power to make the Yagami bleed.. And Kyo and the rest of the King of Fighters opponents knew this well about him.. His lower eyelid twitched with the last remnant of, what could possibly consider, sanity left in him, as it snapped. "Kusanagi-yaro!!" He cursed at Kyo, as he screamed the equivalent that ‘Kyo was the biggest idiot on the planet.’ "I go through Hell to find you, and here you are relaxing like it is no big deal!?" With that he snatched the Kusanagi by the hair and began to drag him out of the jungle, muttering curse after curse along the way.

Kyo was not expecting this, as he was totally confused. For a moment he swore the crazed redhead might have been worried about him. Yet, he looked like he wanted to kill him. The physical state of Iori was horrific even for Iori. Thus, Kyo was at first speechless as he was pulled by him. His mind was reeling at this crazy situation. The last person he expected to come for him wari. ri.

The most confusing thing was why he always seemed to piss Iori off. All he had to do was say ‘hello’ these days and Iori would want to kill him. This made interacting with the Yagami very difficult. Seeing Iori in such rage made Kyo hesitant to even speak. Then again, Kyo never let that stop him before.

Kyo pouted, “Hey, I’m not UNHURT.. I got a broken arm…”

He knew Iori was very dangerous in this state. He was living nitroglycerin. Touching him wrong was liable to cause a person great pain, if not a loss of a limb. Iori could take great deal of damage and pain before submitting. Yet even Yagami had his limit. He was still mortal, like rest of them. Plus, Kyo was worried the wounds might get infected.

Kyo protested as he was dragged, “At least let me check your wounds before you bleed to death, Iori.” His concern in his voice.

"Shut up!" The Yagami snapped at Kyo as he tossed him out of the je ane and onto the white sandy beach, "We're getting the hell outta here now, and going back to the tournament. Your arm and my leg can fall off for all I care!" He bit out, knowing he needed to recast his bandages, yet wasn't about to let Kyo lay a hand on him. Iori stepped out onto the beach, shoving his hands into the pockets of his red-leather bondage pants, which now had rips and holes torn all over them.. He Really liked those pants too.. This only added to his anger and he could feel an ulcer start to form inside his stomach from it.

The Yagami panned the beachside for where he left the boat and....and…. No.. NO! Where was it!? Where was the boat!? His scarlet eyes searched frantically, staggering in and out of the surf..

"Where.. Where's the boat!? Where the hell is my boat?!?!?" He shouted out in complete loss... And then he spotted it... out in the middle of the ocean far, far ahead of them.. Back in the dark water where the sharks awaited him and his gashed leg. Iori clenched his teeth so hard, they threatened to shatter under the pressure as he lowered his head, sliding his large hand up into his messy maroon hair and gripped at the long bangs. He squint his eyes tightly shut, and suddenly the birds in the trees scattered out in all directions in terrible fright, "!$#@!!!!!!"

Now he was stuck here.. With the last person he'd ever want to set eyes on, Kyo Kusanagi. The only comfort he had, was that he had taken the emergency kit out of the boat before going in search of the raven-haired man.. Thus the first aid kit and other emergency supplies laid there safely on the beach down by his feet.
