It was midnight in the sleepy little town of Vale. Everyone was in their rebuilt homes asleep and snug in their beds. Ivan, Mia, Sheba and Piers were staying on Piers ship, which was docked in the lake that was at the edge of town. Everyone there was asleep in the ships cabins except for one of them.
Ivan stood in the crows nest, looking out into the lake. From up here in the mast’s height, he could see everything in Vale. Isaac’s house, only a few yards away from Garet’s, which stood on it’s own on a hill. Along the river that led to the lake was the house where Felix and Jenna lived with their parents. Ivan leaned on the railing. The wind was blowing past him, pushing his hair and cape back. He was fully dressed, for he had been there all day since noon.
Ivan eyes scanned the village, and fell on the huge mountain that was Sol Sanctum. Ivan stared at it, mesmerized. He didn’t even notice when a man stepped onto the ship. He was cloaked by the night’s darkness, and he appeared to be a shadow. He stepped along the deck of the ship, seemingly looking around for something. The man looked up and caught sight of Ivan sitting on the railing. A smile crept along the man’s face, and he began to climb the rope ladder….
~~~~~~
Ivan sat on the railing, now staring into the sky. He couldn’t sleep at all. It was like he had all this clogged up energy inside. Ivan stiffened and quickly looked behind his back. Nothing was there… Ivan swung his legs over the railing and walked to the edge of the crow’s nest, looking down at the ladder. It was swinging, as if someone had used it. Ivan blinked, wondering, when a voice behind him said “Isn’t it a bit late to be up, little boy?”
Ivan turned and the man stepped into his range of vision. Ivan blinked. That long blue hair and cold green eyes looked familiar… “ALEX!” Ivan shouted, bracing himself. “I thought you disappeared!” Alex chuckled. “How naïve of you, little boy.” He said. “I just got the power of the Golden Sun, and all I need to do now is get the power of the Silver Luna.”
“The what?” Ivan asked, quizzically. His hand grasped his Zodiac Wand, ready to swing. Alex chuckled again “I really don’t think that’s any of your business. But it soon will be” He said, slowly pulling his hand up towards the air. Ivan gasped, then dashed at Alex, swinging his wand. Before the wand did so much as touch him, Alex let out a thin wave of energy from his hand. The wave surrounded itself around Ivan, then tightened, making Ivan immobile.
Alex just smiled as Ivan struggled against the tight bands that wrapped around him. He opened his mouth to shout out, but one of the beams wrapped around his mouth, muffling all sound. Alex kneeled before Ivan, who had fallen to the floor after losing his balance. He placed a finger under Ivan’s chin, forcing the small boy to look at him. “Ivan’s you’re name right?” Ivan just stared at him, his eyes filled with hate for the first time in his 15 years of living.
“I’ll take that as a yes…” Alex said, before wrapping an arm around Ivan’s waist. Ivan felt a strange sensation as if he were floating and then found himself on the deck. Alex threw the boy over his shoulder. Ivan jerked and moved, trying to set himself free. He closed his eyes tightly as Alex made his way to the ship’s edge, trying to envision lightning crashing down on Alex. The binding energy was blocking his psyenergy.
“No point struggling…” Alex said. “And don’t worry, everything will be all better in a few moments.” Alex reached into his pocket and pulled out a small envelope. He let it drop to the floor of the deck, before warping off the ship.
Alex quickly warped to the edge of town, at the foot of Mount Aleph. A band of energy found its way to Ivan’s face, wrapping itself around his eyes. Ivan felt himself be carried away, and Alex warping every few steps. Suddenly Ivan felt himself thrown off Alex shoulder and set down on the hard ground. ‘Reveal’ Ivan whispered inside his head. Vision returned to his mind, but flickered out as the bands did their work.
Alex pulled the bands off Ivan’s eyes and mouth. Ivan finally was able to speak. “What are you going to do to me!” He shouted. Alex laughed, smiling gingerly. “I need someone to use, and you’re the perfect person for the job” He said, grinning. Ivan paled as Alex rummaged through a trunk and pulled out a whip…
Ivan struggled against his bands. Alex was humming softly as he continued to go through the trunk. He pulled out a black robe with a red sash, neatly folded, and set it to the side. He pulled out a blade. Ivan stopped struggling for a moment.
‘That blade couldn’t be Alex’s weapon…’ he thought. ‘It’s too thin and short. I’d use it sooner than him. Wait a minute…” Ivan looked at the blade again. It was so familiar. It was slender and lightweight, with a red and purple handle. The Ninja Blade! Ivan had used it briefly after the Lunpa incident. They had sold it to get him a Swift Sword. What was Alex doing with it now?
Alex seemed to have finished getting what he was looking for. He held the blade delicately between his fingers. “Looks familiar, no?” he said mockingly. “You’ll be using it from now on while you’re serving me.” Ivan glared at him. What made him think he’d do that?
Alex ignored him and raised his hand in the air yet again. Suddenly a wave of black energy extended from his fingertips and floated towards Ivan. It slowly wrapped around him engulfing him in blackness. Ivan tried to back away from it, but only ended up aga the the wall. The mist shrouded around Ivan, blocking everything from view.
Then the weirdest feeling filled Ivan’s mind. An overwhelming feeling of power… of strength… agility… As these emotions flew through Ivan’s head, he felt his mind slip away. Even now his eyes were growing hazy, his thoughts vaporizing… Ivan stopped moving, and the binds loosened. Alex smiled. “Good! For a moment I thought it wouldn’t work” He kicked the black cloth at him, which turned out to be the Ninja Garb. Alex walked out, and Ivan sat there for a moment before grabbing the cloth….
