Act 2, Scene 2
SCENE TWO-IN DA FORTRESS, SOMEWHERE ELSE
Farseer Saimiel: That which hath made them drunk hath made me bold;
What hath quench'd them hath given me fire.
Hark! Peace!
It was the grynx that shriek'd, the fatal bellman,
Which gives the stern'st good-night. He is about it:
The doors are open; and the surfeited grooms
Do mock their charge with snores: I have drugg'd
their possets,
That death and nature do contend about them,
Whether they live or die.
MAKBEFF (HE NOT BE IN DA YET): OI! WHOS DAT DEN?
Farseer Saimiel: Alack, I am afraid they have awaked,
And 'tis not done. The attempt and not the deed
Confounds us. Hark! I laid their choppas ready;
He could not miss 'em. Had the warp
Not stayed my hand, I had done't.
(MAKBEFF BE COMIN' IN NOW)
My Nob!
MAKBEFF: I KRUMPED DUNKAN UP PROPA'
DID YOU 'EAR ANYFING?
Farseer Saimiel: I heard the grynx scream and the growler squigs cry.
Did not you speak?
MAKBEFF: WOT YOU TALKIN' ABOUT?
Farseer Saimiel: Now.
MAKBEFF: AS I BE COMIN' DOWN?
Farseer Saimiel: Ay.
MAKBEFF: OI! WHO BE IN DAT OTHA' ROOM!
Farseer Saimiel: Donalbain
MAKBEFF: DIS NOT BE LOOKIN' PROPA'
(HE BE LOOKIN' AT HIS HANDS)
Farseer Saimiel: A foolish thought, to say it does not look proper
MAKBEFF: ONE BE ROARIN' IN HIS SLEEP AN' DA OTHER CRIED “MOIDA'”!
AN' DEY BE WAKIN' UP. I WAS DERE AN' HEARD DA LOT OF 'EM!
DEN DEY BE KRUMPIN' ONE 'NOTHER AN' DEY BE SLEEPIN' AGAIN
Farseer Saimiel: There are two lodged together.
MAKBEFF: AN' ONE BE SAYIN' “IT'S KRUMPIN' TIME!” AN' “WAAAGH!” DA OTHER,
AS ALMOST DEY BE SEEIN' ME WIF' MY BLOODIED CHOPPA'
AN' I COULD NOT BE SAYIN' “WAAAGH!”,
WEN DEY BE SAYIN' “IT'S KRUMPIN' TIME!”
Farseer Saimiel: Consider it not so deeply
MAKBEFF: BUT WHY COULD I NOT SAY “WAAAGH!”?
I HAD BEEN KRUMPIN' AN' ”WAAAGH!”
STUCK IN MY THROAT
Farseer Saimiel: These deeds must no be thought
After these ways; so, it will make me mad.
MAKBEFF: DEN IT CRIED “WAAAGH NO MORE” LOUDLY
DAT I BE SO UNORKY I CAN NOT BE WAAAGHIN'
Farseer Saimiel: Who was it that thus cried? Why, worthy Nob,
You do unbend your noble strength, to think
So brainsickly of things. Go get some water,
And wash this filthy witness from your hand.
Why did you bring these choppas from the place?
They must lie there: go carry them; and smear
The sleepy boyz with blood.
MAKBEFF: I CAN NOT GO
I CAN NOT FINK OF HOW UNORKY I WAS
TO LOOK ON IT AGAIN WOULD NOT BE PROPA'
Farseer Saimiel: Infirm of purpose!
Give me the choppas: the sleeping and the dead
Are but as pictures: 'tis the eye of childhood
That fears a painted devil. If he do bleed,
I'll gild the faces of the boyz withal;
For it must seem their guilt.
(SHE BE GOIN' NOW. DERE BE A KNOCKIN' NOW)
MAKBEFF: OI! WHO BE MAKIN' DAT RACKET!
DERE SURE BE A LOT OF NOISE TONIGHT.
BUT DIS BLOOD WON'T COME OFF.
IT BE ENOUGH TO PAINT AN ORK RED
(DA POINTY ONE BE COMIN' IN NOW)
Farseer Saimiel: My hands are of your colour; but I shame
To wear a heart so white.
(MORE KNOCKIN')
I hear a knocking
At the south entry: retire we to our chamber;
A little water clears us of this deed:
How easy is it, then! Your constancy
Hath left you unattended.
(KEEP KNOCKIN')
Hark! more knocking.
Get on your nightpanza, lest occasion call us,
And show us to be watchers. Be not lost
So poorly in your thoughts.
MAKBEFF: I KNOW NOT WOT I HAVE DONE
(OI! KEEP KNOCKIN' YA GITS!)
DERE BE ENOUGH NOISE TO WAKE DUNKAN
Farseer Saimiel: That which hath made them drunk hath made me bold;
