Chapter 09

Kingdom Hearts Key of Darkness Sequel to "Conceived In Darkness" by Vash/RikuDawntreader/PrettySephy Disclaimer: I own no one from the Kingdom Hearts series. Riku's son, Yamiki, however is mine. But I give permission for other authors to use him in their fics as long as they send me a link so I can read them, too. --------------------------------------------------------- -Chapter 9- "I've just been informed," Cid told the rest of those who were present at Merlin's house, "That last night, Sephiroth was reunited with Masamune." "Aw, shit!" Cloud grumbled, reaching into his pocket. "Looks like Vincent won that one," Aerith smiled, handing a small sum of munny to Vincent. There were several other disgruntled mutterings as hands reached into pockets for munny. Vincent collected it silently. "Now that that's out of the way," Merlin spoke up, "let us get down to the real business at hand. We need to get as much help as we can. Leon, get in touch with Laguna in the database. Find out what information, if any, exists about these new heartless and any ideas people have had about fighting them. We can't be the only ones trying to work this problem out. Cid, Aerith, and Yuffie see if you can work on improving the city's defense system." "What about the Sephiroth problem?" Cloud wanted to know. "Are we really going to just let him wander about the city with Maleficent on his arm." "We can't arrest them for dating," Cid sighed. "Much as I hate to say it, we can't touch them as long as they're not committing any crimes." "What about theft?" Cloud asked. "They did steal that sword." "Masamune always returns to Sephiroth," Vincent pointed out. "Leave it where it is. We were lucky it got back to him with no more injury then a few bumps and bruises. Usually it's return involves a good deal more bloodshed." ***** "This is going to take a little getting used to," admitted Riku's mother. "But, why the change? I mean, this is rather sudden. What happened to your old body?" Riku pointed to the remnants of the ash pile that had been his favorite paopu tree. Sora's mother hugged her son. "I'm glad you're both okay," she told him. "Even if it's in this body. Just do me a favor dear. Next time we decide to pay a visit, try not to be in that body," she pointed at Riku, "when we get here." "I'll do my best," Sora promised. "But for now, the five of us must depart." "You're leaving again?" Riku's mother asked. "So soon after you got home?" "I'm afraid I have to," Riku apologized. "Very well," Sora's mother decided. "Let's go, then." "Wha-?" Sora blinked. "We're coming with you," Riku's mother explained. "Erm..." Was the best Riku could manage. "I, for one," said Riku's mother, "have a score to settle with that old witch who assaulted my son."
