Summary: A winter fic about sounds and colors of the snow. Because there was about -30C and it was damn freezing when I had to go to university!

Dead Fields of Snow
It was a simple yet complex sound. To describe it with words was impossible, there was no way to tell how it sounded in one's ears. No human could mimic that sound. Poets would not talk about that sound so ordinary yet complicated. It was not a whisper of a lover, hovering wind in a summer night ruffling leaves or color of sun passing the horizon, forest glowing with tints in the fall in mountains. Perhaps because of its normality none paid heed to it, savored it, listened it.

Albel Nox was not a poet by soul, oh he was not. He believed in cold facts, straight words which held truth in them. That is why he simply stated to himself that there was nothing wondrous in hearing Fayt Leingod carefully stepping on the fresh snow while walking towards him.

The scenery was white and blue, cold biting through even the thickest of winter clothing. The shades of white and blue, the snow and shadows only intensified the clearness of the bright blue sky and almost white sun in it. Only the one spot of green was tainting the clear colors of cold and winter. The color of vivid life and rushing warmth interfered and broke the image of unmoving death and frozen coldness.

Albel looked at the blinding colorlessness of unending snowfield. Yes, the wind passing over him was colder than cold. Yes, the palest of the pale midday sun on the sky did not produce any warmth to dispel the winter. But no matter what - unlike in the past - he no longer found these colors of bright blue, pale blue and white with smallest hint of vivid green of hinting towards the life repulsing or displeasing.

Albel listened to the sound of Fayt's steps closing in as younger male walked to his side and stopped. He did not turn his face. There was no need to it. The presence of the other was for now more than enough.

Fayt sighed in content, wound his hands around Albel's arm and leaned against the other one. "What are you doing out here, Albel?" he asked after a long silence his eyes still lingering on the silent, lifeless landscape. Whatever had captured Albel's attention this fully was in this scenery in front of him yet he could not find it.

Albel pulled Fayt to lean on his chest and embraced him coving the blue-haired youngster's smaller form with his cape. He raised his hand and pointed at something on the white field. "Snowdrops", he whispered and allowing his hand to fall on other's pale skin he bent down to kiss Fayt coaxing him to open his lips and allow Albel's tongue into warmth of his mouth.

Those fragile flowers perfected the smooth curves of the snowfield and shadows and the bright blue sky in front of his eyes. They showed Albel all the colors and curves of his beloved and those little flowers had became the truest of reasons why he had learned to accept the winter and the seemingly dead fields of snow. Because it all held Albel's beloved Fayt.
