Truths

Previously------

A silence rested over the three men once again. All the new information was a little overwhelming for all of them.

Axel lifted his head suddenly. “Shit!” he exclaimed

“What?” the other two said simultaneously

“Did anyone call their parents?!” he asked them. Riku and Seifer shared a look, then glanced back at Axel

“Idiots.” he mumbled

She was trapped. Or, at least she thought she was. Xion was stuck in the darkness. She was just sitting there, alone. She pulled her knees up to chest and started to cry. She couldn’t pretend to be strong anymore. She’d been pretending to be something she wasn’t since she ran away, and now she had nothing. So there was no need to pretend.

She let out a choked sob, and then buried her head in her knees, wishing someone was there with her. She didn’t want to be alone anymore.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Roxas looked around the darkness, hoping to see something. But all there was, was more darkness. It just continued on forever. He laid down on the nothingness and thought of the irony. For the past three years, it always felt like he was in the dark. Like someone wasn’t telling him something and now look where he is, in the darkness once again. But this time, he wasn’t so sure Axel could save him.

He sighed and closed his eyes. Where was Sora? And what about Xion? …Xion?

The blonde bolted upright and looked around once again. He had a sister, named Xion. The same Xion that had lived with the Organization so long ago. Why didn’t he remember her sooner? She…she ran away when they were in the orphanage. No one believed him and Sora…Sora was so sad after she left.

“Ugh!” Roxas yelled as he slammed his hands down, “Where the hell are you?!”

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Sora paced and paced, and paced some more. There was nothing to do and he was so bored! “Roxas,” he whined, “Where are you?” He sat down and glared at his shoes, wishing he could just walk out of here…wherever ‘here’ was.

He glanced around the emptiness again, and then felt something click in his mind. He’d been here before, in a dream. He stood quickly, trying to remember the dream in detail. He remembered walking. He walked in a certain direction and came across…someone. Then they led him to someone else and eventually, after some cooperation, they were able to get out of the darkness. Yes! There was a way to leave this place! The only question was which direction was he supposed to be walking in?

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The three men all jumped in surprised when they heard a faint noise on the other side of the room. Someone was talking, or what it seemed like to be talking. They rushed over quickly to Xion’s side as she kept mumbling something over and over again.

“What’s she saying?” asked Riku

“Something…about being alone?” supplied Axel

“No. She doesn’t want to be alone anymore.” finished Seifer

Riku and Axel gave Seifer a quizzical look. “She talks in her dreams some times and that’s usually what she says. ‘I don’t want to be alone anymore’ over and over again until she wakes up.” He brushed a few stray hairs away from her face and caressed her cheek, giving her a silent ‘it’ll be okay’ gesture.

Riku sighed, “What are we supposed to do now?” he asked

“You could tell us what the hell happened.” came a voice from behind

“In explicit detail if you don’t mind.” came another voice

All three men slowly turned and were met with the sight of Terra and Aqua standing in the doorway, looking more pissed than Riku and Axel had seen before.

“Uh…” Axel started

Aqua’s eyes flicked to the tall red-head. “Ah, Axel. Since you so kindly volunteered, you’ll be the first to get questioned.” She directed her attention to Seifer and Riku and pointed to the door. “Out.” she commanded.

Riku quickly grabbed Seifer’s arm and pulled him out of the hospital room and down the hallway, a safe distance from the wrath of Terra and Aqua.

“Who was that?” the pale-blonde asked once they stopped.

“The parents.” Riku answered

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

When the door slammed closed Axel gulped. He knew he was in trouble. Aqua’s and Terra’s eyes were locked onto him and he feared if he even made the slightest movement, they would tear him apart.

“Uh…” Axel said nervously, “where should I begin?” he scratched the back of his head, a nervous tick that Roxas usually smacked him for.

“The beginning would be nice.” Terra supplied

“Or you could just skip to the part that landed our children in the hospital.” Aqua stated

Axel glanced over at the beds. Had they not noticed Xion presence? Or were they just choosing to ignore her?

“Well let me start at the beginning and we’ll just work our way up.” he gave a hesitant smile. It was met with glares and the red-head gulped again. He was screwed.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Xion was laying on her side, trying to stifle her crying. What am I supposed to do now? I’ve cried, I’ve screamed and yelled…there’s nothing left. Tears started welling in her eyes again. I just want someone to come save me…

Seifer. She’d never wanted someone so much before, but he’s the only person Xion could think of. He was always there for her, and she never even thought much of it. “I’m a terrible girlfriend.” she smiled at the words. She was going to have to fix that.

She rolled on her back and stared up at the nothingness. Where was she? She’d never seen a place that was just so…empty.

“Where the hell are you?!” a distant voice shouted

“I’m right here. I always have been…” she said to the imaginary voice

“Roxas!”

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

“Where the hell are you?!” a voice shouted

Sora whipped his head around. That was Roxas. He would know his brother’s voice anywhere. He took off running in the direction of the yelling.

“Roxas! Don’t move! I’m coming!” he shouted

He begged his feet to move faster. It didn’t matter if he was running into a trap or if he wasn’t even moving at all. All he knew was that his brother was somewhere in here with him and if Roxas was here, maybe Xion was too…

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Roxas collapsed. He was exhausted. The blonde breathed heavily onto the ground and his gut wrenched in pain. What the hell was happening to him?

He rolled onto his back and wished he wasn’t in this hell hole…wherever or whatever it was. He wanted to be back at home, with Axel. Oh, how he missed Axel right now. His voice, his laugh, his stupid, but cute, sense of humor, he just missed everything about the tall red-head. “Axel...” he breathed his name and a slight smile formed on his face.

How long had he been here? It felt like forever, but Roxas knew he was exaggerating. He couldn’t have been here for very long…right?

He blinked back the tears that were starting to form in his eyes. He was not going to cry dammit. He sucked in a ragged breath and suddenly became aware of the sound of footsteps coming towards him. He sat up and looked in the direction of the source.

Out of the nothing, came his twin. “Sora!” he yelled.

The brunette looked over at the sound of his name and ran to his brother. “Roxas! Are you okay?” he asked frantically

“I’m fine, I’m fine. Are you okay?” he asked

“Yeah, yeah I’m fine.” Sora said, “Come on we need to find Xion.” he reached a hand out to help his brother up

“Wait, you know about Xion?” Roxas asked when he was back on his feet

“Of course I know about her! She’s our sister after all.” he gave his brother a serious look

“Well…yeah…I know that. It’s just-I don’t know anymore. Everything is either a lie, or it’s the truth and I don’t believe it…” the blonde looked away from his brother, tears threatening to fall from his eyes again

“Roxas…look I know I’ve done some terrible things in the past. I…I was a horrible person to lie to my brother and keep secrets from you. And I’m sorry for everything I’ve done to you. But…I need you.” Sora’s eyes started stinging, “I need my brother here with me. I can’t lose you again. Those years without the real you was the worst thing I’ve ever been through.” tears started pouring from the brunette’s sapphire eyes. “Please…can you ever forgive me? I…I don’t want to fight anymore. I finally got you back and I don’t care what anyone says. I’m not having you taken away from me again.”

Roxas turned and grabbed his brother in a fierce hug, “I’ve missed you too.” he told him

Sora grabbed his brother back and let his tears fall freely. “I’m not going to lose you. I’ll fight Riku if I have too, you’re not going anywhere.”

Roxas smiled at his brother’s words, “I can’t have you fighting for me Sora. Especially against Riku, you’ve had a crush on the bastard since you were ten.”

The brunette sniffled, “Have not. I didn’t start liking him until I was at least eleven.”

Roxas laughed, “Yeah, well whatever. You’re insane if you think I’m gonna let you fight.”

Sora cuffed the back of Roxas’ head, “Hey shut up. You’re ruining a tender moment here.”

The blonde released his brother and looked into his matching eyes, “Xion?” he asked

“Xion” Sora repeated, his lopsided smile forming on his tear-streaked face

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Kairi and Namine were sitting in the hospital waiting room when they saw a familiar face come around the corner. “Riku!” they screamed in unison

The silver-haired teen looked at the younger girls and a smile broke out over his face, “Hey you two. What’s up?” he asked them

They waved him near and he walked over and crouched down in front of them, a puzzled look on his face

“Have you seen Mommy and Daddy?” asked Namine

“Yes, they’re talking to Axel, Roxas’ friend, right now.” he answered the little girl

“Where are Sora and Roxas?” asked Kairi this time

“Uh…well they’re upstairs. Something happened so we had to bring them to the hospital so they could get better.” he scratched the back of his head, he wasn’t exactly lying…right?

“Hmmm” the girls gave him a serious look

“What’s wrong?” he asked them

“Where’s Xion?” Namine asked as Kairi nodded in agreement

It was anything but graceful when Riku lost his balance and promptly fell on his butt in the middle of the waiting room, “Excuse me?” he asked the twins

“Xion” they repeated in unison

How in the hell did they know about Xion? Weren’t they too little to even remember her? They were way too young at the orphanage when she vanished, there’s no way they could have known about her.

“Uh…” he started, unsure of what to say next, “how do you know about Xion?” he realized he was asking them more questions than he was giving answers

“She’s our sister silly!” Kairi exclaimed

“And we miss her. We want her back.” Namine finished

The silver-haired teen rubbed his forehead. This was not happening. He was dreaming, he had to be dreaming. “Xion’s here with your brothers.” he answered them finally

“Yay!” they screamed, “We can see sissy again!” They smiled at each other and Riku was more confused than before

“What do you mean ‘see her again’?” the older of the three asked

The younger two gave him a strange look, “Xion used to visit us.” Kairi explained

“…visit you?”

“In our dreams.” said the tiny blonde

Riku was speechless. Xion could…dream walk? No, that was insane…wasn’t it?

“Riku…” Kairi started, with an uncertain look on her face

Riku looked down at the red-head and urged her to continue what she was about to say

“Why…why did you try to kill them?” she asked

“Kill who?” he asked, fearing he was going to get the answer

“Roxas, Sora and Xion” Namine said bluntly

Riku sighed. These girls knew a lot and he wanted to know why. “Because,” he started, trying to choose his words carefully, “someone else wanted them and I didn’t want to see them hurt.” he gave the girls a sad smile, “I didn’t want to lose them, so I tried to save them.”

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Axel breathed a sigh of relief as he finished his story. He started at when he kidnapped Roxas from school and finished at the part where all three had the same attack at once. He tried to include everything…well not everything. He was pretty sure that Terra and Aqua didn’t want to hear about how he had ravished their son the night Roxas stayed the night with the red-head or the morning after...

He gave the parents and uneasy look and it was met with glares. “So…uh….anything else?” he asked hesitantly

Terra and Aqua stole quick glances at each other then focused back on Axel

“That’s all for now, I guess.” Terra stated, crossing his arms and leaning back in the chair he was currently sitting in

“Do you mind going out and finding Riku for us?” Aqua asked crossing her legs, “We really do hate going out and tracking people down.”

“Uh, no. I-I mean yes. Yes, I can do that.” Axel answered quickly. He was acting like a ten year-old. He had been in numerous fights, been shot at, shot people in return, yet he was scared of Roxas’ parents? What kind of man was he exactly?

The red-head gave a slight nod then left the room, intent on finding Riku as soon as possible.

Aqua sighed when Axel left the room and her gaze drifted towards the three sleeping teenagers on the other side of the room

“So…all three together again. Ironic isn’t it?” she asked herself, more than her husband, “The same day we were going to tell them, they end up in a coma. With their sister no less.”

“How long has it been since we saw Xion?” asked Terra

Aqua looked towards the ceiling as if it would have the answer written on it. “I don’t remember. I know we saw her when they turned 13…”

“But that was ages ago…” the brunette stared off into space, thinking about their situation, “Do you think she’ll ever forgive us for what we did to her?” he asked his wife

Aqua snorted at the question, “Forgive us? Doubt it. Roxas and Sora still don’t know we’re their real parents.”

Both adults jumped when they heard the door slam, a pissed looking Riku standing in front of it.

“So it is true! You stuck them in that shitty ass place, making them believe their parents were dead!” he yelled at them, “How could you?! No, why would you? Why would you stick your children in that awful place only to take them out 6 months later?”

Terra stood quickly, intending to make Riku regret ever opening his mouth, only to be stopped by Aqua’s hands on his arm, “No, don’t. He has a right to know.” she said quietly

“What?! If anyone has a right to know why we did what we did it would be them!” he yelled, gesturing to the sleeping teens

The blue-haired woman cringed at her husband’s tone and withdrew her hands, “Terra, everyone has been hurt by our rash decisions. We were young and stupid, and we made stupid choices concerning our children, but that doesn’t mean we have to lash out at anyone who wants to know why we did what we did.” she narrowed her eyes at her husband, “Now sit down or I’ll make you sit down.”

Terra gave one last glare at Riku then returned to his seat next to his wife

“Good. Now Riku,” Aqua started, “I think you should take a seat. If you really want to know why we put our kids through this, you should sit down and shut up until I’m done.”

Riku moved quickly to sit across from Aqua and nodded for her to continue. Aqua glanced at her husband to find him staring at their children, and her heart wrenched at the memories she was about to relive.

“Now, it all started when Terra and I met in college. We were…drawn to each other I guess. There was something about us that separated us from everyone else. We were…different.

Terra made a living as a magician and I was a fortune teller. One day Terra came to my shop and asked for his future to be told.” she smiled at the thought, “I told him he was going to marry a beautiful woman with unique abilities. He then asked me to come and watch his show later that night. What I saw…well I’ll just say that I knew it wasn’t an illusion. I knew Terra had powers and he knew that my fortune telling wasn’t based from cards.

We fell in love and not too soon after we graduated, we were married. A few months later I learned that I was pregnant. After discovering I was having triplets, Terra and I were a bit…frightened. The possibility of having one child with abilities like us is one thing, but three? We didn’t know what we were going to do if it happened.

After I went into labor, there were some complications. Sora and Roxas came out fine, but Xion…Xion was turned around and couldn’t come out properly. I ended up having to have a C-Section. Everything was touch-and-go for a little bit. We didn’t know if Xion was going to make it or not. She was a very small and weak baby. A few months passed and Xion got healthier. She was soon playing with her brothers just like any other baby. Then as they got older, we started noticing some things. Objects in one room would appear in another. Sora would start crying before he was injured and any bruises that Xion acquired, would appear on her brothers in the exact same place. We didn’t know what to think. Telekinesis and psychic is one thing, but having a kids who could move objects, know when they were going to get injured, and have matching injuries? It was too overwhelming for us.

Then I learned that I was pregnant again. I was having twins this time, Kairi and Namine. I-I don’t know what happened to me. I guess I freaked out. I didn’t know how to deal with supernatural children. Terra and I grew up alone with our powers and learned to develop them on our own…” Aqua started breathing heavily and Riku idly wondered if she was okay.

“Then a man came to us. He…he knew about children with abilities and he offered to help us. He talked about a school where they suppressed the kids’ powers, so they could live normal lives.” Tears started welling up in her eyes, “…and that’s all we wanted for our children. Normal lives, without powers or anything weird. Was that too much to ask?” she gave a desperate look to the silver-haired teen as the tears began spilling down her face

Riku looked away and snorted in disgust, “It is when you let your children believe that their actual parents are dead just because you didn’t want them to think that you didn’t love them. It’s sickening.”

Terra ran his hands in a soothing circle on Aqua’s back, trying to calm her down. “You have no idea how hard it was giving them up, only for a few months.” he started, glaring in Riku’s general direction, “We weren’t allowed to see them, to let them know that they still did have a family that loved them. We were both isolated from the things that we loved most.” His tone had become bitter and gave away no emotion. Riku did not know who this man was. He had never seen Terra so…detached.

“Love?!” Riku spat out, “What you did wasn’t out of love, it was out of selfishness! You didn’t want to have to deal with the raising five special kids, so you sent them off to a lunatic who said he could help them, when all he really did was sign their death warrants!”

“And how exactly do you know what happened there?!” Terra yelled

“Because I was there too!” Riku yelled back, “I saw the horrible things that man did to them in order to suppress their powers! In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the reason Xion ran away in the first place!”

“Xehanort said that they wouldn’t remember the treatment!” Aqua gasped

“Yeah, because dad always keeps his word.” replied Riku, his cold eyes glaring at the two parents

“Riku…what exactly happened at that place?”
