Revelations

I didn’t see him again for the rest of the boat ride. Not because he was avoiding me. To the contrary, he was trying to find me. I was the one avoiding him. Finally we arrived at Booty bay. I waited until just before the boat was about to leave again before I got off. I wanted to get to the flight master and get the hell out of there.
On my way, I saw him. I hid so he wouldn’t notice me. He was leaning against a building looking out at the sea, the blood elf was standing with him. He looked so sad. The same look he had as I dashed from the room. I’d hurt him. I got closer in hopes to hear... and in hopes that they were speaking common. I was in luck. He seemed to not want the others of his group to know what was going on so they were speaking common.
“I’m serious, we’ll find her. I’ll help you. We’ll demand to know why she ran out.” The blood elf said.
“Don’ boddah, Bennal.” The troll said. “I know why she ran.”
“Then why?” The elf named Bennal asked. “Why would she do that to you?”
“’cause she regrets givin ‘er virginity to a Troll.” He said. I gasped softly. He had it all wrong. That wasn’t it at all. “Aftah she... ya know... she got a look a ‘orror an disgust. Den she run. I can not find ‘er now. I don’ be t’inkin’ I evah see ‘er again. Probably best. I don’ wanna make her remembah somet’in’ she regret.”
I could feel tears welling up again. He had it all wrong. What could I do?
“You’re giving up?” Bennal asked.
“What else can I do?” The troll asked. “Ya didn’ see de look in ‘er eyes.”
“But... Allanni... you’ve spent the better part of three years looking for her.” Bennal said. “You finally find her and you’re giving up?”
Those words stuck me hard. Allanni? It was Allanni?! The whole time it had been the one I wished he was. I’d run out on the man she loved. I ran out on the man I loved who had been looking for me for nearly three years?! Oh Elune, I’m a bitch!
Allanni looked up at Bennal with tears in his beautiful eyes. “It be okay. She told me long ago, dat we could nevah be togeda.” He said. “She surprise me by sleepin’ wit me. I be prepared fa rejection. What I not be prepared fa, was de look of disgust. I didn’ t’ink I disgusted ‘er.” He closed his eyes and the tears fell and hit the deck below him.
“Maybe she didn’t recognize you. Maybe she didn’t know she was with you.” Bennal said. He got that one right on the nose.
“No, she called me by me name. I nevah tell ‘er me name, but she call out ‘Allanni’.” He said. “No, she know it be me.”
Oh Elune! He’d taken it so wrong. I didn’t know! I hadn’t been disgusted with him, I was disgusted with myself. And had I known it was Allanni, I wouldn’t have been disgusted at all. Elune, what have I done?!
“Allanni...” Bennal said, but was out of things to say.
“If ya don’ mind, I t’ink I skip de adventure dis time. I catch de next boat ‘ome.” Allanni said.
“If... if that’s what you want.” Bennal said.
“T’ank ya fa listenin’ Bennal. Ya be a good friend.” Allanni said.
“That’s what cousins are for.” Bennal said, placing a hand on Allanni’s shoulder. That’s right, Allanni’s father was a blood elf. I’d forgotten. That’s why he looked feminine. “The next boat doesn’t come for a couple days. Why don’t we stay and wait with you?”
“Ya don’ ‘ave ta. Ya can go ‘ave fun if ya want.” Allanni said.
“I want to. If the others don’t then I’ll catch up with them later.” Bennal said. “Family is more important than beating the crap out of people.”
“T’ank ya.” Allanni said.
“Not a problem.” Bennal said. “Let’s go get drunk! It will help you forget!”
“I don’ want ta forget me first time.” Allanni said, following his cousin towards the inn. “Even if it do ‘urt.”
Oh, Elune... I’m a bitch!
