Long distance goodbye

“So what are you going to do now?” Cammi asked Eroth. Eroth paced the floor.
“Escape.” Eroth said. “I can’t stand this... I’m a rat in a cage. And you know what happens to rats in a cage... Rat kabobs.”
“I really don’t think they’re going to cook you, Eroth.” Cammi said.
“That’s not the point. The point is, just knowing I’m a prisoner, is driving me crazy!” Eroth said. “I hate this. I can’t live like this.”
“They can’t keep you here forever.” Cammi said.
“The hell they can’t.” Eroth said. “They made that clear enough.”
“You’re over reacting.” Cammi said.
“No... no I don’t think I am.” Eroth said.
“How will you escape?” She asked.
“I’m not sure. I’ve not had the time to plan it out yet.” He said.
“How much time do you need?” She asked.
“I’m not sure. However long it takes to come up with a fool-proof plan.” He said. “Days, weeks, months, maybe years. But I WILL get out of here!”
Cammi nodded. “I’ll help you.” She said.
“No. No you won’t. If they find out, you’ll be in terrible danger.” Eroth said. “I refuse to put my baby sister in danger. From this point on, you’ll hear nothing of my plans. Plausible deniability.”
“But doesn’t the fact I know you’re going to escape mean I’m in trouble anyway?” She asked.
“No. The head of the order already knows I won’t be staying willingly. He just doesn’t dare take any action unless I try something.” Eroth said. “It will become public knowledge I’m going to try to get the hell out of here. But no one but me will know how or when.”
“Oh.” Cammi said.
“How did mom die?” He asked.
“She came down very ill and passed away.” Cammi said.
“I see.” Eroth said. “Where was she buried?”
“Menithil. Beside dad.” Cammi said.
“I see.” He looked out his window at the busy city. “I can’t even go see her grave.”
Cammi was silent. How could the order do this to him? How can they deny him the right to live as a free man?
“Cammi?” Eroth said.
“Yes?”
“I’m going to go buy some flowers. Can you take them to mother and father’s graves?” Eroth asked. “Tell them I’m okay. Tell them I love them. Tell them I say goodbye.”
“Yes, brother.” She said.
“Thank you, sister.”
