Chapter Eight

Chapter Eight:

The afternoon the very next day found Kore wondering the upper decks. She walked around on the bridge. The ship’s deck seemed bare. Just someone steering the ship. She was trying to find Cervantes. And she did not have to look for long.

As she reached the railing of the bridge. Cervantes was just below. Hold his two weapons in hands. He was fully dressed in his usual outfit. He seemed to be concentrating on something. Though at first. She could not say what. Until, he threw his weapons up. And swung them from side to side. Taking one step forward and one back. While swinging his weapons over his head and around his body. One more step forward, he lifted his leg to kick. Then crossed his weapons and pushed them back behind him. As if stabbing someone who was behind them. Though he was alone below her.

She realized as she stared down at him, he was practicing his martial arts. Swooping his blades along and around his form. Leaping up and back. Then twisting around, with his weapons flying around. Firing his gun blade once in the air, then swooping his weapons back again. While he backed up. He was going to move again, Kore had begun to clap.

He paused and turned. Glancing up at the young woman who apparently had been watching him the whole time. ( I tried to be as accurate to Soul Caliber Three as I could when you watch the character practice.)

“ You seem surprised, Cervantes.” Kore began, making her way down to the level of the deck Cervantes was.

“I….am not used to an audience, Kore.” He answered her with a slight smile.

“ No? Well may I say something in regards to your moves?” She asked. Cervantes only nodded.” Well then, I must say that your moves are the best I’ve seen. Though I have not seen much in my life.”

“ And yerself?”

“ What about me?”

“ You attacked and fought me. You must know to fight a little. “ Cervantes began. Handing her his gun blade, Nirvana. He swung at her. She blocked. Twisting to the side. Cervantes took another swing. She blocked again.” Good.” Was all he said. Lifting his leg to kick her back. She flipped to the side.

“ Not bad.” Cervantes said with a smile.” Who taught you to fight?” He asked.

Kore shrugged. “ Taught myself I guess.” She said.

Cervantes nodded. Giving her a moment to swung at him, again the blades clashed into each other. Cervantes backed up and let her take another hit at him. Blocking as he always did. “ And you?” Kore asked.

“ My father taught me when I was a boy.” Cervantes answered and lifted his Soul Edge over his head. Quickly Kore leapt and rolled to the side. She stayed knelt down on the deck for a second. Before Cervantes leapt towards her. His blade straight aimed at her. Kore let herself fall upon her back on the deck. While Cervantes passed above her. And landed on his feet a distance from her.

“You…are quick.” Cervantes said. Casing his Soul Edge upon his back. And offering her his hand. She smiled and accepted. Giving him back Nirvana. There was a silence between them. Cervantes cleared his throat. And holstered his gun blade. He made his way over to the railing of the ship.

He leaned over and stared out at the ocean.” The ocean is enchanting,” Kore’s voice made him glance beside him. Where the girl leaned against the railing too.

“ Aye. This is all that has kept me sane. To look out upon the open waters.” Cervantes said. Staring at her.

Kore smiled lightly.” If I could lead the life you do….I would…..just so I could wake up every morning and gaze upon the sea and her beauty.”

Cervantes nodded slightly. Taking his hat off, he ran his finger through his long white hair. Sighing, he place his hat back on . “ I think ye would make a fine pirate, or sailor at the least.”

“ Nah. I lack the skills to enjoy myself. I was raised by a wealthy family you know.” She explained.

“ So was I. But you think that stopped me from drinking down rum and attacking other ships for no reason?”

Kore chuckled.” And here I thought you were a decent man.”

“ Man?” He stared at her, was he even a man anymore. Having a piece of soul edge in his body, has made him more of a demon then a man. Strange. No other woman he’d run into ever thought of calling him a…man. There was something special indeed about this Kore.
