Chapter Title: Haunted Mansion Pt 3

-Sora¡¦s thoughts-

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now this part of the story is definitely my least favourite. If I had to choose between this and a hysterical Cloud telling me he was raped, I¡¦d choose the latter. But the story wouldn¡¦t make sense without it, so the show must go on.

Sora watched begrudgingly as his love disappeared out of sight. He hated being alone, especially in a haunted mansion that belonged to someone who was out to get him.

-I want Leon-

My little angel wasn¡¦t used to being all by himself in the dark, especially not on Halloween. He knew it was childish but he still believed that all those monsters were real.

¡§Sora.¡¨ The brunet spun around and found himself facing the person he least wanted to see, Riku.

¡§What do you want?¡¨ He frowned as he whispered to the older boy.

¡§Just to talk, there¡¦s no need to be scared, it¡¦s not like any MONSTERS are going to get you.¡¨ Riku leered and deliberately raised his voice, enjoying seeing my little angel wince in return.

¡§Fine, but keep your voice down!¡¨ Sora whispered a little louder this time, glaring at the blond and crossing his arms.

Riku rolled his eyes and strolled past the brunet, a smug grin on his face as he indicated for the boy to follow him.

They reached a corridor and turned to walk down it, there was no lighting down here except for a few sparse candles. Sora shivered with fear as he looked into the seemingly everlasting gloom of the hallway, wanting to stay away from Riku but at the same time feeling safer near him than on his own in this foreign place. Dust rose upwards from under their feet and sprinkled down from above them as their deep breathing disturbed places left alone for years.

My angel glanced to his left and his heart sunk deeper into the icy waters of terror; this corridor led to many rooms, and all their doors were wide open. He stared momentarily into the black abyss and then hurried on, trying desperately to keep his eyes straight ahead.

He breathed a sigh of relief when Riku¡¦s strides slowed to a casual pace and wondered if they had finally reached their destination. He didn¡¦t know why anyone would want to come down here; it was at least five minutes away from the main party at jogging speed.

¡§Forgive me.¡¨

Sora gasped as his eyes were covered with what felt like cloth. In reflex he tried to run but there was someone standing in front of him.

¡§Where do you think you¡¦re going? I haven¡¦t even gotten started yet.¡¨

The voice, it was different from the one before, Riku¡¦s voice. The person who wanted his forgiveness, it was¡K

-Tidus-

¡§Tidus?¡¨ The brunet whispered feebly. ¡§Please, let me see what¡¦s going on, you¡¦re not like this.¡¨

He heard a hoarse voice start to answer before a sharp ¡§shut up¡¨ cut it off. He didn¡¦t know what was going on, but he knew it wouldn¡¦t be good.

Sora only struggled slightly as his wrists were bound and he was led off to the left into what he assumed was one of the many rooms, glad in a way that he couldn¡¦t see.

¡§Now are you going to keep quiet about this or am I going to have to gag you?¡¨ Riku whispered huskily into the brunet¡¦s ear, his moist breath sending a shiver down his spine.

Sora sniffled softly and tried to force back the tears that pricked at his eyes, a single sob breaking past his lips. He barely heard the cry of ¡§Riku you can¡¦t do this to him¡¨ from what he assumed was the other side of the room. If Tidus was so against this, then why didn¡¦t he do something to stop it?!

¡§Good boy.¡¨ The husky voice drawled again. My little angel bit his lip as he felt a cold hand under his dress and on his midriff. He tried desperately to imagine it was me as the hand moved lower, to areas that shouldn¡¦t be touched, not by anyone but me¡K

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I allowed myself to enjoy the feel of Cloud¡¦s kiss for only a second or two before I pulled away, an apologetic look in my eyes. He was so beautiful, just like my Sora, but things could never be the way they were.

¡§I have to go to Sora.¡¨ I squeezed his hand in mine before pulling away and walking towards the door.

¡§Leon.¡¨ He called softly after me. ¡§For understanding, thank you."

I paused briefly and turned to smile at him, the last true smile I would give in a while, before continuing back towards the main party a little faster than before. I had to find Sora, I¡¦d only been gone just over five minutes but still, he was just a boy, a boy who was scared of the dark.

My long strides were purposeful, and carried my quickly across the reception room and towards the main hall. My heels clicked against the marble floor and my trousers flared out behind me as I tried to navigate my way in the pallid light.

I stopped suddenly as a flicker to the side caught my eye. Down, at the end of the corridor was the light from a candle, but¡K it couldn¡¦t be. It was glaring upwards from the floor.

It was fire.

I hurriedly glanced around me to see if there was anyone I could call, after all it would be silly to try to put out a fire on my own.

¡§Help!¡¨ I barely heard the cry, it was so faint. I couldn¡¦t just stand here and do nothing. If that person died it would be my fault, I couldn¡¦t live with that for the rest of my life.

I sprinted down the dark corridor; it seemed to go on forever. I rushed past empty rooms with open doors, and smelt the musk of damp stone, squinting slightly as I neared the blaze. It was coming from one of the rooms¡K

No.

This isn¡¦t happening.

It can¡¦t be happening.

Wake up Leon.

Just fucking wake up!

I fell to my knees at the mouth of the fire, my eyes deadening as the stared through the doorway.

Sora, what did they do to you?

My little angel was lying in the centre of the room, with Riku sprawled out on top of him. His silky brown hair was plastered to his forehead with sweat from the heat, his eyes covered with a black cloth. His white robes had been pushed up to his chest, and the blond was lying between his bare legs, one hand holding an angel wing in a death grip.

¡§You¡¦re too late.¡¨ I heard a hoarse voice sob from the corner of the room.

I looked up pathetically and found myself staring into the eyes of Tidus.

¡§If you¡¦d been just a minute earlier you could, you could have¡K saved him.¡¨

But I hadn¡¦t been one minute earlier. I had failed, Sora was dead.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I debated with myself as to whether to add this last bit, but for those of you who actually feel an emotional connection to this story, the beginning paragraph of the next chapter might bring you out of your despair, so here it is:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

¡§Leon.¡¨ He called softly after me. ¡§For understanding, thank you."

I paused briefly and stood on the spot, bewildered. Why wasn¡¦t I dead?

¡§You¡¦re too late.¡¨ Tidus¡¦s voice echoed in my head.

This time I wasn¡¦t going to fail, this time I ran.
