The Pokemon egg hatches, a Phanpy emerging to finally put everyone's curiosity to rest. "Wow, he is so cute" Casey said. Phanpy noticed, Pikachu, Ash and Casey, because they are front of him. "Ph py phan ph phan/ You are my memma and father?" Phanpy asked, Ash nodded. "What is he said?" Misty asked. "He see me as his father and Casey as his mother" Ash replied. Casey take him in her hand and giving many peck him "Yes, I am your momma, I always take care of you" Casey said in joy. "Sorry Casey, I am take it for Sharky, or I promised him, I am never use him in any Gym Battle or any battle, if he not agree with me" Ash replied. After the showing and introducing Ash, Misty, Casey and Brock all Pokemon to Phanpy, they continue his journey. Ash and his friends are walking down the road to Mahogany Town, they reaches the Lake of Rage. All of a sudden a Red Gyarados appears from the water, startling everyone, first because it's a Gyarados, and second because it's red. Within moments of its appearance, Gyarados fires out a Hydro Pump towards the group, but Ash stop it. Soon an unfriendly-looking group of people come by. Ash notices it's Team Rocket, and the leader simply laughs wondering what a bunch of kids are doing. He sends out a Fearow to take care of them. The Fearow dives in with a Drill Peck but just before the Pokemon can hit, a beam fires towards the Fearow from a newly-arrived Dragonite and its Trainer. Seeing this, Team Rocket decides to flee. The Trainer takes Ash and his friends to another part of the forest around the lake and Ash thanks him. "I think you are Lance, Kanto Elite Four Member Leader" Misty said. "Yes, I am Lance but I am leave the Kanto Elite Four and, now I am the Johto Champion" Lance said. "Ok, once again thanks for save us, but I want to go and save the Red Gyarados" Ash said. "No, it would be too dangerous for you" immediately Lance says. "Maybe you not know about me, but I am always saving everyone, in any situation or he got in any danger" Ash said. "I know you are the winner of Indigo League and Orange League, but it is danger, especially since the Team Rocket members were no ordinary grunts" Ash protests, but Lance still refuses. "Ok, then you stop there but I will go there" Ash said and go from there. Jessie, James, and Meowth are resting after long time in Team Rocket HQ, and the man which send his Fearow come there "Hello everyone, we are a mission of capture the Red Gyarados, our major Team Rocket leader, Tyson is lead you" the man said, addressing himself to a superior. "We can do it, Professor Sebastian, James and Jessie ready for catching them" Tyson said. Boat' getting ready for the operation to begin. Just behind one of the docking hangers, Lance grabs a grunt, takes his uniform and goes onto the boat disguised. Team Rocket is getting ready for the capture the Red Gyarados. Soon enough, an angry Red Gyarados comes towards them. As soon as the target is on sight, Team Rocket member handling the net gun fires it and surrounds the red Gyarados and Jessie, James, and Meowth! Professor Sebastian gives a signal and a power shock is delivered through the netting, shocking both Gyarados and Team Rocket. The boat starts to go with the catch, but Ash and his friends come just in time. Ash sends out Totodile, he swim to the net, and he chomps the net and Jessie's hair. Lance notices them, thinking Ash is crazy. Seeing the Pokemon, Sebastian sends out for another device, which triggers a giant Radar back at Team Rocket Headquarters that sends waves out towards to the area. Soon Totodile get tired and let go of the net. Ash realizes it's something at the HQ that's doing this, he need to going there. Ash caught himself by Tyson, Tyson hands over Ash to the hands of Sebastian. Ash use his power and find, the whole concept behind Project R, short for Project Revolution. The whole idea was that the Gyarados had a strange property in it that made it Red. The aim of Project R is to force Pokemon into evolving or try to achieve the 'red' state. Thus, the whole Rocket faction would achieve an army of evolved and above-average Pokemon at their disposal. Tyson and his cohorts travel back to Mahogany Town to continue their studies on the Gyarados, so they can perfect their Evolution Inducement Ray, and left Ash to back on their old lab. Lance, disguised as a Team Rocket member, stops following the others and makes a call to Officer Jenny in Mahogany Town to inform her of Team Rocket's hideout. After the call ends, Lance heads back to the Lake of Rage. Ash release Lucario, he blast the lab and destroy the machine, who makes the Pokemon tired. Lance came there by sitting on his Dragonite, Lance and the others get in the car and drive to Mahogany Town. While transporting the Gyarados via helicopter, the Evolution Inducement Ray wears off on the Gyarados, causing it to thrash around and making the helicopters crash into the water. The Gyarados swims away, and while driving beside the water, Ash spots it. Ash gets out to possibly calm the Gyarados, and successfully calm Gyarados. Tyson challenges Lance to a battle, but Lance easily defeats Tyson's two Fearow with his Dragonite. Officer Jenny comes and arrests Tyson for violating conservation laws. Once again, Team Rocket captures Gyarados with a net and shocks it into submission. They pull it out of the river, but Ash sends out Cyndaquil and his Flamethrower burn the net. A grunt tries to catch the kids with a net, but Gyarados' Hyper Beam blows the grunts away. Ash tells Gyarados to go back to the river, but Jessie and James show up in the Meowth Balloon and catch Gyarados with another net. Ash jumps and grabs onto the net to save the Gyarados, but Meowth tries to shake him off unsuccessfully. Gyarados uses Thrash again and breaks the net free from the balloon. Gyarados continues down the river, but Team Rocket say they'll catch Pikachu anyway, but Pikachu easily defeats Arbok and sends Team Rocket blasting off with a Thunderbolt. Red Gyarados apoligize for his anger. "Gya, gya ra gya dos/ I want to come with you" Gyarados said. "Ok, if you want, then I take you" Ash replied and ready to capture him but he stop by Lance. "Mr. Ketchum, I request you, you will give me one try for capture him, because you havs already many of rare Pokemon" Lance request. "Ok, I have not problem if you want to capture him" Ash said. "GYA GYA DOS/ I am not want, I will become the Pokemon of another trainer" Gyarados said and release the Hyper Beam on Lance. An old man appears and orders his Dewgong to use Ice Beam, stopping Gyarados from going any further. He tells them "That Pokemon and humans are not meant to be friends, and it's putting them in danger" and he walk away. "Gyarados, you need to be calm, or Lance is a good person and Johto Region Champion, he always take care of you" Ash calm down him. Gyarados nodded and ready for battle, Lance release his Dragonite to fight the Gyarados. Dragonite start attack by with Thunder Wave, Twister and Hyper Beam, it cause the all successfully hit Gyarados, and he faints, then Lance captures it with a Pokeball. Team Rocket being sent to jail, and Lance flying off on his Dragonite with the waving goodbye them. Ash decides to challenge the Gym Leader Pryce, they all reach the Mahagony Gym, but he isn't in there. A lady named Sheila tells "Pryce goes up to the mountains every morning to meditate under a waterfall, you can follow me". They hurry after her, they see Pryce. Everyone is shocked to see that Pryce is the same man who meet with them on the bridge. Pryce says "It would be pointless to battle you, because your emotional bonds with your Pokemon have dulled your senses". Ash protests "You are a Gym Leader and it your duty to battle every challanger, not make decision to what are doing". Pryce sends out his Dewgong "If you can beat Dewgong, then you will get to chance do Gym battle with me" he said. Ash calmly said "Pikachu" Pikachu release the low thunder on Dewgong, when he stop, Dewgong is fainted. "Emotion make us weaker, but it also make us stronger" Ash said, Pryce ignore him and leaves them. Ash following close behind. Sheila yells "It's dangerous to go into the mountains alone". Suddenly the ice is broken and Ash, Pryce, and Pikachu fall over the cliff. Ash sends out Noctowl to help Pryce and Totodile to break their fall using Water Gun. Pryce thanks Ash "Thank you for how your Pokemon is reacted under duress I know that you are close to your Pokemon but, you must retain strict discipline". "Discipline, if I talk about this to Garde and Chiko, then they will kill me" Ash murmured. "You said anything?" Pryce asked. "No, nothing" Ash said. Sheila telling Misty, Casey and Brock, about the Pryce "Pryce love his Pokemon. He treated his Pokemon so coldly, and his favoring of the Ice type, people began calling him Icy Pryce, Pryce had a Piloswine, one day he just left, then it all happens". Pryce sees an old leg bracelet "This bracelet belonged to my Piloswine, I and Piloswine were once in a national tournament against a Magmar. I and Piloswine were both badly injured, I ran to protect him, next night, Piloswine just left the snowbound cottage and me alone, after this I never saw him again, after this I stopped treating Pokemon as friends". They soon enter a cave covered in a thin layer of ice. Ash noticed a figure frozen in the ice. With a shock Pryce realizes "He is my Piloswine! He is holding herbs used to treat burns". Ash deduces "Piloswine is got trapped after looking herbs for help you, or you said he betrayed you" Ash scold him before send Cyndaquil. "Cyndaquil melt the ice by your fire and Pikachu revive him by your thunder" Ash orderer. Both do as Ash said, Piloswine wake up, he still remembers Pryce. Pryce said "Piloswine use Rest, thank you very much, now I understand what is my mistake, I am sorry". They then exit the cave and reunite with Sheila, Misty, Casey and Brock. Sheila is also excited to see Piloswine again. "Once again thank Ash, we will do the Gym battle tomorrow" Pryce said.
