Chapter 7
Entering the HIVE

"Talking"
*Thoughts*


Waking laying on the marble bathroom shower floor with the water still running, and the shower curtain half over her body, with the most horrible pain in her neck and shoulder. Dimly lit room, the door still closed and locked so she knew noone had attacked her. Though all she could remember was turning on the water and then fainting. Standing and gently holding her hand over the bruise on her shoulder moving to the mirror that had become foggy. Swipeing her hand across it and looking at herself in the mirror, at the bruise on her neck and the small one on her neck from when she collapsed in the shower.
Moving to the door and unlocking it. Force of habit to always lock the bathroom door even in her own house, and provate bedroom bath. The bed straight ahead from the door, made, and resting on top the blankets is a speghetti strap dress. Though she didn't remember if it was hers or not, she guessed it was since she had woken where she had gone unconsious. Moving to the dresser and opening the first drawer to find white cloths, and the same with the second drawer. Finally the third drawer, weapons instead of more white cloths like she expected making her give a silent gasp. Looking at the little pannel to see its unlocked, but why would she need them was all she could think. Turning back to the red dress and drops her white robe she had slid on while in the bathroom since without the hot water running it had turned cold.

Opening her eyes to meet more darkness. Still on her bed with the file laid out beside her. No matter how many times Jaydn had read it over and over, she was always reading it since a small part of her still couldn't believe what had happened. However at the moment she coudn't remember what happened, no memory of it whats so ever. Along with who the file was of, and just figured she got tired of working and fell asleep. With the pain in her neck from how she had laid when drifting unconsious she wondered how she could've slept the day away with her neck crained.
Gathering up the file and setting it on her desk. Her other hand on her neck gently rubbing the muscles there. A sigh with a little chill since she had been in her pajamas all day, having a 'day off'. Opening her dresser and pulling out the first thing that was there : A simple black velvet dress. Smiling at the item of clothing as she pulls it out, but she just couldn't remember if it was hers or not. Deciding if she fell asleep there, is must be hers, and changes her cloths. Looking through the dresser some more for stockings, finding a pair of black and red striped stockings, and the black ones were full of rips and holes so she decided on the black and red stripes.
Spotting her raggidy converse she loved so much she still hadn't thrown away even though her new converse are resting on the floor right next to them. A pair of raggidy black boots that were well broken in, but what she has her eyes on are the black mid-calf boots that zip up the sides. Picking them up and sitting on her bed sliding them on and giving her hair a quick brushing before moving for the door. Looking down the hall to the right, and then the left seeing nothing. No lights on, so she figures shes the only one home and moves down the hallway for the stairs. An unnerving feeling that something wasn't right, keeping her steps quiet as she decends into the front foyer. Looking to her left and then her right, two seperate rooms but she had heard a voice a seond ago.

"Hello?" She repeats back moving towards where she heard the womans voice.

"Hello." A calm toned voice belonging to a pretty red head poking her head through the doorway. "Do you live here?"

Jaydn tilts her head at Alice, "I think so."

Alice tilting her head some, "You don't remember if you do either?"

Jaydn shakes her head in a silent reply of no. "I woke up here, so I think I live here."

Alice gives a light nod. "Should we take a look outside? I don't think anyone else is here but us, but I saw a shadow."

Jaydn gives a light nod and moves over to the woman, and they move into the other room. Looking around at the over sized dining room and how it could fit atleast fifty people.

"I hope we're not the only ones that live here, or this is seriously oversized." Jaydn says making Alice smile.

"Theres a picture of me with a man." Showing her the fraimed picture, "But I don't remember who he is." 

Jaydn looks down at the photograph and shakes her head, "Drawing a blank." She tells her and moves looking out the window next to the door, and then opens it.

Looking down something similar to a corridore, peeking her head out and looks behind her hearing clicks. Alice flipping the switches making yellowish lights turn on around the outside area. Being the ides of September the leaves were falling from trees, and loitering on the ground in browns, yellows, and deep reds. The two hugging themselves taking a few steps out, and then a few more looking around.

"Hello?" Alice speaks.

Crows and other birds in the distance squawk and fly from their pirches making both of them jump.

"I think we should go back inside." Jaydn says noticing the wind getting stronger, blowing the leaves and giving both of them chills.

The two about to back inside when they each felt a hand on their shoulder pulling them backwards into the mansion and the same person kicking the door closed.

"Let go." Alice orders, "What are you doing?" Trying to pull her wrist from his hand.

"Let us go." Jaydn pulling just the same and then tries to push him and pull her wrist free at the same time; the three of them getting into a tiny spat untill they hear glass breaking.

A small round disk looking object giving off a small explosion enough to scare and make them back away. More breaking glass is heard as human figured wrapped in black military uniforms and gas masks come in through the window. A figure moving to the wall where the computer pannel is, another apprehending the white male who had grabbed them moments before. Sliding back into the wall and standing together as another masked male approaches them demanding their report.

"What report?"

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Sir, the house's main defences have been activated. They might still be under its effects." The masked male at the computers panel informs him.

The mask disappearing revealing a light brown skinned male in his mid, maybe late twenties with a bald head and brown eyes.

Two others, a man and a woman by the sound of their voices, talking to the man who had removed his mask. Asking about the prisoner who is claiming to be a police officer who had just transferred. Matthew Addison, however, the other man was getting no file on a Matthew Addison in the police force.

"Should I secure him here?" The woman questions.

"No," The man answers looking between the two women, "We take them with us." He then looks to the black haired of the two. "You're name is Jaydn, you're the medical officer for this squad." A slight disappointed look, "Unfortunatly you're useless to us untill you're memory returns." He then looks at the redhead. "Your name is Alice." He looks at the silver elevator doors, "We have to enter the HIVE."

Moving up the stairs with three offices infront of them looking through the facility and to another metal door with Umbrella's red and white cross on it. Since reaching the door they had found another man who is suffering the same memory loss as the two women who are sticking together while the brown haired man looks utterly confused about the whole situation. But truth be told, neither of them really remember why they were in the mansion, who they are, or if they even lived there.

"Listen to me, I don't know who you people are but I want to know whats going on." Alice speaking to the leader, the black male. "Now." She adds hitting the side of his gun making him look at her.

"We have the same employer; we all work for the Umbrella Corporation. The mansion above us is an emergency enterance to the HIVE. We are security operative based to protect that enterance."

"What about this?" Alice questions sliding the gold band off her ring finger.

"Your marriage is a fake, just part of your cover to protect the secrecy of the hive." He explains making Alice and Spence look at eachother while Shade looks to Jaydn, "And your cover is being Alice's sister."

"And what is the HIVE?" Spence asks.

"Show them." Shade orders Kaplan.

Turning the computer, a small beep sounding. "Accessing skematic of the HIVE." and turning the computer again for them to see."

"Raccoon city." Shade tells them, the screen showing a city layout and then going beneath the city. "The mansion where we found you and gained access to the train which took us here, to the HIVE." he explains as a little train on the screen runs down teh tracks of the same route they took moments ago. "The HIVE is located deep underground beheath the streets of Raccoon City. A top secret resurch facility owned and operated by the Umbrella Corporation. The HIVE houses over 500 technitiand and scientists, and support staff. They live and work underground. They're resurch is of teh highest importence...its nature is classified." He explans as the map on the computer screen continues changing showing the hive. "Our position on the map is showed by heat signature." He informs as the screem zooms on on their persons showing red figures."

"Why can't I remember anything?" Spence asks.

"The HIVE has its own defence meconisms, all computer controlled. A nerve gas was released into the house. Primary effect of the gas: complete unconsiousness lasting anywhere from up to four hours. Secondary effects can vary , but include acute memory loss."

"For how long?" Jaydn questions.

"Subjective. An hour, days, weeks."

"So you're saying this place was attacked?"

Shade looking at Matthew, "I'm afraid things are a little more complecated than that."

"Sir," the woman in the squad gets their attention, "We've breeched the HIVE."


Moving further into the HIVE. Elevators are out, taking the stairs going down before coming to their level. Moving silently through the seemingly empty facility which only gave Matthew and the other three Umbrella officers a chill. A sound of light water trinkling, and finding its source to be coming from a flooded lab. Pieces of paper floating around in the yellowish water behind the thick reinforced glass.

"This is going to slow us down. Our route goes right through these labs." Kaplan annoucnes.

"Andy, Logan see how bad the flooding is." Shade commands, "Kaplan find us another route." 

"What happened here?" Spence asks One.

"Five hours ago Red Queen went homicidal." One replies after glancing at Jaydn and Alice. "Sealed the HIVE and killed everyone down here."

"Jesus." Spence murmurs.

"When they realized what was happening my team was disbatched to shut her down."

"Why did she do it?"

"I don't know." One answers looking at Alice, "But outside interference is a possability."

Jaydn standing next to the glass by Matthew, and slowly turns her head looking into the yellowish water as a corpse turns floating into view right up to the glass. Jaydn letting out a startled sound combined with Matthew's 'Jesus' and they both move back against the wall.

(( No more water, but a clean neat lab with two people working in it. One being a woman, and the other a man. The woman with curly brown hair and thin fraimed glasses resting lowly on her nose while looking through a microscope. A man, younger than the woman who looks to be in her early fifties at most, a little chubby with thin fraimed glassess and rosey cheeks. Smiling and laughing about something, and then she sees herself on the outisde looking in. Sitting on a stool with a cast on her arm, a yellow Sobe energy drink in her good hand tilting it back and forth making the liquid rush to one side adn then the other. Beside her is a tall, leanly build blond haired man with black sunglasses on though there was no sunlight and they were infact underground, but he still wore them. ))

Alice, Rain and JD all taking a step back from the glass looking at the young woman who coudn't be anymoe than thirty. Her hair floating in the water, a round face with a button nose and full lips. Dressed in the typical scientist attire of a white shirt, a white pair of pants and the white coat.

"You okay?" Rain asks Jaydn who was in an out of it dazed look staring at the woman.

"...fine..." Jaydn answers tearing her eyes from the corpse only a second.

Spence looking at Alice who had backed up against the wall with her arms around herself again.

"Hey...you okay?" Spence questions softly.

"Hn.." Alice gives a slight smile curling her hair behind her ears.

"Here." Sliding his leather jacket off.

"No-" sAlice begins her arguement.

"Please, come on." Holding it out to her, "Its cold in here."

Touching his finger tips while taking the leather jacket sent a flashback into Alice's mind involving him and a bed. A short but very erotically themed flashback of rolling around in bed with him.

"Do...do you remember anything?" Alice timidly asks, "Before, before this?" Rolling her shoulder slightly motioning to the behind her where the military persons are.

Spence glancing at them and then at her, "No." Giving a slight shake of his head, "No, nothing before the train." he adds, "You?"

"No." She answers, "Nothing." Sliding the jacket on saying thank-you as she moves to Jaydn who is still standing with Matt, and on the other side of her is JD and Rain. "Jaydn," Getting her attention, "Do you remember anything yet?"

Jaydn glances around at One, Rain and JD, and then Spence. They felt familiar to her, but she just couldn't recall a time with then other than now.

"I think I've been here before." Jaydn answers lowly.

"I found one." laplan speaks up, "Go through cafeteria B and it should bring us to the same place." 

"Whole lab is flooded sir." Logan reports.

One gives a slight nod, "Lead the way Kaplan."


Jaydn sticking by Matt, infront of Rain and JD. Alice and Spence a few steps infront of her, and then the other two offices Andy and Logan before Kaplan and One. Rain talking to Jaydn about the night when they went out to the bar, the Flamingo before being transfered to another facility.

"You still don't remember anything?" JD questions.

Jaydn gives a slight shake of her head, "You feel familiar, I just don't remember."

Looking around the darkened room holding several containers about three by five, with large tubes in each of them. Little green lights on the sides, Jaydn getting closer seeing the word 'stable'.

"Kaplan."

"Dining hall B, thats what it says on the map."

"Maybe you're reading it wrong." JD says.

"Maybe the corperations keeping a few secrets down here." Matthew speaking causing all of them to look at him, "Something you're not supposed to see."

"JD, you and Rain keep the prisoner and Jayd here, and secure the exit." Shade commands and reaches into his pocket pulling out his hand gun holding it out to Jaydn. "Do as Rain and JD do, it'll come back to you." He tells her.

*But do I want to remember?*

"Alright, there may be survivors, keep your eyes open. Give me a search line to keep it tight."

Moving deeper into the cold room that is colder than the rest of the facility hallways they had just come from. Jaydn sticking with Rain and JD, and their prisoner. Andy, Logan and Kaplan leading while Shade keeps an eye on Alice and Spence not wanting either of them to drift away.
Alice stopping at one of the tall dark containers made of metal, large tubes on the floor around it and leading into the one beside it. The same green light on like all the others, and the same small window large enough to just look inside. Getting closer easing her way to the little window like she was expecting something to jump at her from inside. A type of white fog or mist inside obstructingher view some, but the inside was dark so she wouldn't have seen alot anyhow. She could make out more tubes, smaller in size but many more of them connected to something she couldn't see and could barely make out a figure.

"I said keep it tight." Shades voice sounding next to her giving Alice a fright.

"Sorry." Alice says looking down a moment, "I'm not sure if I want to remember what went on down here."

"I don't blaime you."

Rain watching Jaydn with the gun, clicking the safety button on and off looking in a daze.

"Jayd," getting her attention, "quit that."

"Sorry." Jaydn says lowly, "Just trying to remember something." clicking the safety off one last time.

"Would you know what went on down here?" JD asks her.

Jaydn shrugs, "I feel I've been in the HIVE before, but this place dosn't feel familiar." She answers. "I'm not sure if I want to remember what was going on down here." Seating herself on a metal box beside Matthew.


Alice watching Kaplan work under the pressure that his team is being killed by a blue lazer that was cutting their bodys like warm butter. Spence telling him to hurry up, while Alice was doing the same as she stands at the small window looking into the hallway leading into the Red Queen's Chambers. Logan was first to go, he hadn't reacted fast enough when the first wave came through and it cut right through his neck so fast his head slowly slid from his body before crumbling to the floor.
Andy injured in the first wave, the lazer cutting his fingers off as Shade pulled him down to the floor. Alice could just hear him through the thick door and glass ordering him to stay awake. Pulling him up, Andy holding his hand watching the blue light coming closer only now there are two; one high and one low. While Shade jumped and it missed him, when Andy jumped it was too soon. The top cutting through his neck, and the second cutting through his knee caps.

"Hurry up they're dying in there!" Alice yells looking back at Kaplan.

"Almost there.” Kaplan says.

Alice watching Shade lift himself up evading the flesh slicing lights, but could see it was just barely since his knife was cut in half falling to the floor with a small ping inaudable to her ears. Alice urging Kaplan to hurry up and he repeats ‘almost there’. Shade watching the blue lights spread out into a net, Alice holding her breath.

“Got it.”

But it was too late. Just as the blue net appears behind Shade and disappearing. Alice watching Shades body crumble into pieces into a heap on the floor where he stood.

It has been some time in silence waiting for the other half of the team to return. Rain standing and playing with her knife rolling it under her short nails. JD standing and looking around the area to see more dark corners, tubes along the floor and the metal boxes. Jaydn looking at the digital watch on her wrist, the same one that she woke up with and had left a small imprint on her cheek.

“Thirty minutes.” JD tells her.

“They’re late.” Matt says.

“Hear that?” Jaydn asks outloud making everyone look at her, but they hear it now too.

“I’m on it.” Rain moving away from the three of them.

“I’ll go with you.” Jaydn hopping down from the box.

“I’ll take this side.” Rain tells her, “You take that side.”

Jaydn moving over into the next isle, moving down keeping her gun ready.

“We got a survivor.” Jaydn moving right over to the woman in the lab coat who was partially leaning against the wall with small gasps. “Are you hurt? Can you talk?” Questioning the short beown haired woman gently gasping her shoulders.

“She might be in shock.” Rain tells her sliding her gun onto her hip. “JD we got a survivor.” She yells back moving towards them.

Jaydn dropping the gun as the scientist pushes her down, her mouth opened making a harsh growl trying to bite her. The bump on the back of the head bringing back her memory in one great big flash. It felt like she was being attacked by her mother all over again. The short dark hair, blackened eyes, and fuzzy looking teeth looking like they hadn’t ever been brushed before.

Rain yanking the woman off of her, the short haired woman rolling on the floor before slowly getting back to her feet. Jaydn getting to her feet and picking up the gun wasting no time in shooting her in the head.

“Jaydn!” JD looks at her. “Jayd?”

“We have to leave, we have to leave now!” Jaydn squeeks.

“Jaydn-”

Matthew noticing the change in her, “You got your memory back?”

“Yes, and we have to-” She stops looking at Kaplan, “Where’s Shade? We have to leave as quick as possable.”

“What was all the gunfire for?” Kaplan questions.

“Whats wrong with her?” JD looking down at the woman.

“She’s infected.” Jaydn answers, “Can we leave now?”

Matthew looking down at the woman whos eyes are still open. Her mouth slightly open far enough to show her gritty teeth, pale skin and the one gunshot wound to the head. Thinking how odd it is to see that there wasn’t much blood, and what little there is looks blochy and dark like it was coagulated.

“Not alot of blood for someone who got shot in the head.” Matthew points out and stands, “Looks coagulated.”

“Yeah.” Alice says lowly.

“Thats not possible.”

“Why not?” JD questions.

“Because blood dosn’t do that untill after your dead.”

“Where is Shade?” Jaydn demands at Kaplan who just looks down, “Alice?” She looks at Alice.

“Theres noone else coming.” Kaplan informs.

“What do you mean noone else is-”

“Sssh.” Rain hushes JD. “Hear that?”
