Chapter Seven:
“You mentioned you had an adoptive mother.” Cervantes started. After about three glasses of wine between him and Kore. Their plates cleared of food. Kore having a slight buzz from the wine.” What happened to your real mother?”
Kore shrugged,” My father said that she died giving birth to me. What about you? What’s your story? Are you married? Do you have any kids?”
Cervantes looked at her. Debating if he should open up to a girl he had just met. He decided why not?” I was married. Once upon a time. A boy of sixteen. To a gorgeous woman. Her name was Marina. I left to sea the morning after our wedding night. “
“ Do you miss her?” Kore asked.
“ Aye. Every day. Marina died. After having my child. Who was adopted by an English wealthy family. And we’ve never seen eye to eye. My daughter and myself. I have nearly disowned her. “
“ Why? Because of differences? Cervantes, that is no reason to disown your only child.” Kore said.
And rather then getting angry at her, Cervantes nodded. “ So young. So naïve. Ms. Kore you’ve yet to learn the things life teaches. “ He said.” But you may be right.” He said with a sigh.
Kore smiled,” What’s her name?”
“ Isabelle. But most call her Ivy. I’ve had the pleasure of battling her. She is an exceptional fighter.”
“ Fighter? Why would you fight your own daughter?” Kore inquired.
“ Because I was once on a search for something known as Soul Edge. It was once apart of me. I wanted to know more information about the it’s hold over me.”
“ Hold over you? You mean this blade was more then just a blade?”
“Aye. Soul Edge controlled me, and I attacked Ivy. Calling her a worthless daughter. I have no recollection of what happened. Except Stomas reminded me. That I attack Ivy. And I slaughtered my crew. All but Stomas. “
“ Does the sword still have control over you?”
“ No. But a piece is somewhat still apart of me. But not enough of it to control me.
Kore nodded. “ I see. “ Was all she said, there was silence between them for a moment. Then she cleared her throat,” So, what is your…..occupation on the waters?”
“Is it not oblivious? I’m a pirate.” Cervantes answered.
“ Oh. So am I going to be able to trust you?” Kore asked.
“ Have I given you a reason yet not to trust me?” Cervantes asked firmly.
“ No, not yet. “ Kore said.” So, you asked me how I spelled my name….why?”
“ Because I was curious of it’s meaning. So I looked it up. Now I’ve another question for you, Kore.” He started. She looked at him and nodded,” Where you born near the Greek Isles?”
“ I was born in Thebes. “ She answered. Her eyes watching his movements as he stood. And walked over to kneel down beside her seat.
They stared at each other for a moment. Cervantes took her hand in his. Searching her eyes for discomfort. So far he found none.” What are you staring at?” Kore asked softly.
Cervantes responded in a tone just as soft as hers,” I’m staring at the most beautiful woman to have every gazed my presence in decades.”
Kore smiled and hung her head in embarrassment. “ You only say that because you want to sleep with me.” She mused.
Cervantes chuckled. And stood up, letting go of her hand.” A smart lass you are.” He said. Taking a seat across from her again.
Kore smiled,” I believe I am full enough. And we’ve shared conversation for a couple hours now.”
“ Aye. Perhaps it is time to escort you to yer cabin.” He said.
Kore stood,” Thank you. But I think I can manage.” She said and made her way to the door. She paused. Sensing Cervantes was watching her.” Cervantes. Thank you for dinner.” With that she left. “ Good night.” She muttered closing the door behind her.
“ Good night, Kore.” Cervantes said softy as the door closed.
Authoress Note: Thanks for the review. I was wondering if I'd get one or not. No, there are not many Cervantes fics out there. Just like Voldo. Hey creepy guys need lovn too.
