Chapter 7: Breaking the Ice

The room was quiet, deathy quiet. And in truth, that was what the silence was all about. Nearly everyone in the team of thieves known to steal all sorts of things from Gaia were sitting in the living room, save for two people, Snidne and Twonk. Snidne was in his own office, doing what, the team didn't know. And Twonk... he was dead.

A madwoman had appeared, causing trouble, and Snidne and Twonk went off to fight her. However, in an unexpected turn of events, Twonk was forced to fight Snidne without free will. He was a puppet, only to be used to kill his opponent. Despite knocking him around a few times, Snidne refused to fight completely and treat Twonk as an enemy. Then the madwoman pulled out her ace in the hole. She had killed Snidne's foster sister.

His sister was the last living relative that Snidne had ever known, and seeing her lifeless body fall was too much to bear. Emotions running high, he lunged after the killer, intent on ripping her to piece with his own dagger. And Twonk, still under her control, took the death blow. That moment in time seemed to freeze forever, even after the team had come to help and take her down, only to realize that it was nothing more then a robot, an andriod.

They had buried both bodies just outside of Barton Town, and the team was slowly starting to recover from what happened. But Snidne had become a complete wreck. It was for the first time since perhaps he had been a child, that anyone saw Snidne cry, unable to hold back the fury within his own heart. Seeing it, the team felt a sense of uneasiness. They had becomed unnerved at the sight, for to see Snidne, who had always been so well in control of his own feelings, break down like that was like witnessing something that was never meant to be seen.

And for three days, he never left his office. He shut himself off from everyone, determined to remain alone about what happened. No one in that room believed Snidne was doing any type of work, but no one knew exactly what he WAS doing in there either. He was just way too depressed about it, and no one seemed to want to go in there, unsure of how to react to what they might see.

"Damn, I cant take this!" Infernas shouted out, standing. Everyone looked ot see what he was doing, before he went off to Snidne's office door and began pounding on it. "Snidne! Open up! Come on, I know your depressed but you have to pull out of this!"

"Infernas!" Celestial shouted, reached to pull him back. "What do you think your doing!?"

But before Infernas could say anything, a loud crash was heard from beyond the door. It was the sound of someone, or something, tearing apart the room and Infernas backed away from the door, as if he feared whatever was happening in there would barge out the door and attack the first thing it saw. There was the sound of glass breaking then nothing but silence as the team watched, waiting for something to happen. Finally, Dooley reached out and opened the door.

The destruction that lay before them was unthinkable. The desk that took up most of the space in the middle of the room had been smashed in half. One half was laying on the floor overturned, while the other had been smashed to pieces. A large metal filing cabinet housed a large dent in it, as bits of wood and the smashed up half of the desk lay nearby, leaving one to assume that the desk had been violently tossed at it. Papers littered the floor, ink bottles smashed as well as the window in the room. The chair that Snidne usually rested on was nowhere to be seen, but seeing the window in it's current state, it wasn't hard to figure where it had gone.

But the wine bottles were the worst. At least five or six of them had been smashed against various parts of the walls, broken glass everywhere. Another dozen or so were scattered all over the office, some seemingly fallen from the now ruined desk. The worst part of it was that they were all empty, each one of their liquid contents gone. And in the middle of all this chaos was Snidne, passed out. It was obvious that he had been drinking and ruined his entire office in a drunken rage before passing out.

"My god! Has he been drinking? For three days straight?" Dooley shouted surprised.

Colette grimaced at the sight. "He looks completely out of it..." She picked up a wine bottle before tossing it aside.

"Come on, we can't leave him here like this," Kyashii said, having Infernas help carry him home.

Snidne's house was just that, a house, provided it had a few things that not many others houses would have. Like a private minibar. Despite the fact that he owned it, Sndine rarely bothered living there. As such everything from the couch to the kitchen counter was covered in a thin layer of dust. A little food, though fresh, was found in the fridge, as well as several canned goods. The fact that hardly anyone used the house made it have a haunting look about it.

Snidne woke up in his bed, feeling a headache start to form. At first, he was completely unaware of what happened and where he was. But as the memories came back, and the pain intensified, he suddeny grew more aware of his surroundings. And more aware of the fact that he wasn't alone.

"Ah your finally awake I see." Snidne rubbed his head, trying to make out the figure in front of him. Shaking his head once more, he noticed Kyashii staring at him. "Nice to see you back in the world of the living. You've been out for a couple of hours."

"Damn, guess I was out of it for longer then I thought..." Snidne mumbled to himself, scanning the room. Everything looked neat and organized, exactly not how he had left it. Whenever he stayed at his home, he hardly ever had time to clean up after himself. As such, dirty clothes and bits of trash could be seen littering his house, not to mention all the dirt and such that he was certain must have gathered due to lack of cleaning.

"Yeah, I stayed here to watch you and cleaned this place up a bit. I never thought you to be so messy" she added with a smirk. Snidne looked down a bit and Kyashii understood why. "Please Snidne, you mustn't blame yourself. It wasn't your fault."

"Yeah, Twonk told me the same thing right before..." But Snidne could not, would not force himself to say those words, for hear them from is own mouth would be admitting to the unchangable fact that Twonk was really gone and nothing he could do would ever change it. He couldn't bare to face that reality. "Do you... hate me for it?"

Kyashii felt heartbroken at those words. She knew Twonk was perhaps the first and only person who came close to understanding what Sndine had been through, one of the only people he could possibly open his heart and soul to. The bond they had shared was unlike any with even his other teammates, but what touched her about it was the fact he was more concerned for what she would say then his own well being. "Snidne, please don't dwell on this. It's not good for you."

Kyashii could never hold this against him, and she knew that inside, Snidne was torn. He was most likely feeling the same way she was at Twonk's loss, helpless and powerless to do much of anything. Perhaps it was because he had always sworn to himself that no matter how badly things got, his team came first. No matter how much Kyashii saw him complain about their actions, worry over his expenses, or threaten to fire them, she knew he would never abandon or disown them. They were his friends, and he didn't believe in saving his own neck while they took the downfall.

It was with this in mind that she thought it would be best to give him space and time to heal. "Anyway, now that your awake, I think I should get going..."

As she got up and turned to go, Snidne reached out and grabbed her wrist. She turned back in surprise, looking to him. Something in his eyes was there, telling her not to go. It was almost like he seemed saddened by the thought. "Please... stay with me for tonight..." Kyashii could see a huanted look in those eyes, as he was still plagued by something that was completely unrelated to his recent hangover.

"Sure Sndine," she said giving him a soft hug.

It was a small surprise, therefore, to find him hugging back.

The next morning, Kyashii awoke to smell something cooking. She looked aound, wondering when she fell asleep, and realized that she was still in Snidne's house. Her head had been resting on his bed, and judging from the smells, the owner of the bed was in the kitchen. Getting up, making sure to streach out first, she headed to the kitchen to see Snidne cracking an egg open.

"Morning. I hope you slept well."

"Ummm... yeah. Snidne, what are you doing?"

"Making breakfast," came the response as he moved the egg around. "Want something? I found eating a fried meal helps with the morning hangover."

"Ok, thanks." Kyashii smiled to him once more, glad he was starting to feel like his old self again. "So, your feeling better then?"

"Yeah, I decided to skip out on work today. Take my first day off." Snidne brought the skillet he was cooking with and dipped some eggs and bacon onto two plates.

"Thanks!" Kyashii said cheerfully as she went over to sit down. Well, she would have if Snidne hadn't grabbed her and stopped Kyashii in her tracks. "What is it?"

"I need to tell you something. Yesterday, I realized something important about myself. All this time, I had always remained guarded about my own feelings, deviod of most emotions." Kyashii stood speechless as Snidne poured this out from within him. Although it was no real secret, she knew better to interupt especially when this was coming from him. "And in light of recent events... I realized that..."

When it seemed like he could go no further, Kyashii pressed him on. "What? What did you realize?"

"This." And with that he captured her lips in a gentle kiss.

That single meeting of the lips was like a blast to the wall that Snidne had set up himself against his own emotions. Everything he had ever stood for, any image he had set himself to be, shattered at the moment that she recieved his kiss and returned one of her own. Feelings that were always there, yet long since had been repressed, now flooded his heart.

When they pulled away, both were red in the face. Snidne then mumbled out, "Please, just don't tell my team. I'm not exactly ready for them to know." Kyashii responded by granting him another kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck to keep them close. Snidne in turned snaked his own hands around her, keeping her body in close contact with his.

These feelings were not new, they were not unfamilair. But to be feeling them now, after years spent trying to forget they even existed, Snidne felt for the first time that he was truely experiencing life. He brought her out of the kitchen, not wanting to break contact with her yet as he sat down on the couch and brought her onto his lap. They broke apart and looked to each other, realizing what was there.

Kyashii knew that Snidne only took it as a joke, but her openness with him had been no lie. From the first moment they had met, something about him seemed to stick into her mind. And while her bother told her not to try and get too involved with him, she couldn't help but admire how effortlessly he seemed to run things, despite all the complications he may have runned into. Seeing him face such things gave her the sense of looking at someone who, in a literal sense, was more then what appeared.

Snidne himself had done his best repressing these feelings. Kyashii was somewhat of a pain, yes that was to expected of her, considering who she was related to. Yet Snidne also felt strangely content when she praised him on a job well done, even going as far to be flattered by all the attention. But it wasn't something he was ready to admit or accept into his life. At least, not yet.

Snidne took off his gloves and held her cheek as he brought himself in for another kiss. Although his hands had a slightly rough feel, unlike the smooth feel of his gloves, having him touch her like this seemed more intimate somehow. The fact that nothing stood between his soft touch of her skin caused Kyashii to open her mouth lightly. She was then surprised to find that Snidne had snaked his tounge into her mouth, exploring it but moaned in satisfaction, her own tounge playing with his.

Snidne may not have cared much to do this sort of thing, but it didn't mean he was ignorant about pleasuring a woman. He undid the buttons of her shirt and pulled it open, slowly removing the garment off of her. Kyashii blushed slightly at being exposed to him like this, but her heart knew what she wanted. She wanted him and now, with open eyes, Snidne wanted her too.

Kyashii began to do the same with Snidne's shirt, throwing it off before removing the pendant he always seemed to wear. She never did understand why he wore nothing but black, even on the hottest days. It apparently didn't seem to bother Snidne, who had taken this moment to remove her bra. Seeing her breasts freed, he leaned in and took one in his mouth, gently suckling it as he rubbed the other with his free hand. He relished the fact she cried out in pleasure over his touch.

"Please... Snidne... more, I want to feel more," Kyashii said in a heated voice.

Snidne was never one to follow many commands other then ones he himself had given. But then he mentally shook himself. This was no command, just a request. A request he would not deny. He bit on her hardened nipple lightly, pulling gently with his teeth. Kyashii let out another cry, this time a bit louder, echoing in the empty house. She started to grind her hips against his, feeling his own arousal.

There was a sharp intake of breath as Snidne felt her rubbing against him. Suddenly he found it difficult to breathe properly. Kyashii felt somewhat proud of herself at his sudden change, knowing that it was her body that was causing a reaction in him that she may never have seen, had these feeligs not existed. Snidne threw his head back as he let out a low growl from somewhere deep within himself. It made her hair stand on end, but also sparked something else within her.

Unbuckling his pants, she pulled them down, freeing his own desire. She seemed to stare at it some, her eyes beginning to obtain that look of pure lust as she gripped it and began to stroke him. Snidne bucked his hips up, feeling nothing more then a slave to his own uncontroled desires. Suddenly, as if her touch had awakened something primal, Snidne gripped her and flung her onto the couch so that she lay on her back, his body looming over her.

This sudden change made Kyashii squeel, but did nothing to hinder her own arousal. If anything, it strengthened it as she watched him devour her with that look he gave her. A look that Snidne had imprisoned long ago and knew that by releasing it now, it was meant only for her. He kissed her again, roughly, as their tounges danced together and he removed the rest of the clothes off her body, tugging away as if they were something hiedious placed on something pure.

As soon as she was completely naked beneath him, Kyashii blushed, feeling slightly embarrassed, though why she wasn't certain. When Snidne spread her legs open and positioned himself, he gave one last look into her eyes to confirm if this was what she really wanted. With a nod of approval, Snidne entered her.

"Ahh... Kyashii, it's-"

"Ohh... it feels so-"

Giving into this feeling now, was pure heaven. Kyashii settled herself as she got used to having all seven inches of him inside her, before he pulled out and began his slow thrusts. Each thrust she felt was pure pleasure against her body, and she wanted more from him. Wrapping her legs around his waist, it was a silent message for him to go faster, push deeper.

Snidne didn't disappoint her, his body acting almost of it's own accord now, thrusting into her more forcefully, driving them toward sweet bliss. He could feel it inside him, the flood of emotions and feelings that was ready to burst inisde of her and show just how much he cared, just how much he could love. Kyashii too could feel it coming, the pleasure building until that moment where all thought was no more and only feeling remained.

It felt as though bright white lights burst before their eyes, as she one shook in orgasm, letting th efeeling wash over them both. Snidne fell exhaughted against her, only lightly noting how sweaty they had become and the fact that his breakfest he spent so much time working on was now cold.

A week ago, if anyone told him he would fall in love with his best friend's sister, Snidne would have beaten that person's face in, regardless of who it was. Now, a mere twelve hours since that moment they shared on the couch, Sndine was looking back to Kyashii, who was sitting at the table waiting. They had showered and cleaned themselves up before she offered to go shopping for him. He refocused his attention to the pasta he was cooking before him. It was almost done.

Snidne had not certainly forgotten Twonk's last few words to him, some of them concerning his sister. As far as Snidne knew, his sister was the only real family he ever had. And he safety was something that he stressed was important for her. Though he never said it, he wanted someone to watch out for her. And Snidne rose to the task, though he could hardly say that sleeping with her was considered 'watching out' for her.

Still, he had never felt this comfortable around anyone. Suddenly he felt warm hands embrace him from behind. "What are you thinking about?"

Snidne said nothing at first, intent on focusing on the food, but he knew that would never work. "About us. I mean, I know we have to keep this up but-" She spun him around and kissed him, her soft lips pressing against his.

"You think to much," she said with a grin.

"And you don't think enough," Snidne said returning to his cooking. "It's gonna be hard, without him. But I think we can go through this if we work together." Kyashii said nothing as she leand against his body, enjoying the feel of his muscle against her. "Come on, let's eat." He rubbed her head playfully.

"I think it's sexy that a guy knows how to cook." Kyashii grinned, returning to her usual self.

"I should cook more often then," Snidne said, a playful light dancing in his eyes, something that had grown there since he abandoned his old silent self.

It was a playful light in his eyes that would turn to hints of lust that night as they entered Snidne's bedroom. Later his eyes would hold a content look as he held Kyashii close to him in bed, knowing he would never be alone again.
