The Chaos Within

As Amy lands in an open field, she looks around to make sure nobody is looking and then morphs from Rouge's form to her own. She grins as she accesses Dr. Eggman's knowledge of the remaining Chaos Emeralds' locations.

"Of course," she mutters to herself, "One of them is at Tails' workshop. Two birds with one stone..." She heads back to Station Square to get on the train to the Mystic Ruins, where the workshop still resided. On the train, many people smiled at Amy, saying hello to the pink hedgehog. A part of her wanted to smile back at them, but she did not. She keeps a serious look on her face, staring at no particular person until the train reaches the rickety wooden station.

"Is this truly what I want? All of these people... They're... My friends too... Aren't they? It... It must be done if I want Sonic... They're all distracting him from me. Well, I'll become them and I'll finally be the center of his attention. If I get all the Chaos Emeralds as well, that's another thing that he won't be able to just run off to do, leaving me behind. No more of that, Sonic. This time, you're mine."

These thoughts leave Amy with a disturbing smirk on her face as she departs the train with the crowd. At the foot of the stairs on the way to the hilltop workshop, she melts and splits into three puddles. They reform into Vanilla, Cream and Cheese, all of them under Amy's personal control, yet still imbued with the appropriate personalities. The three go up the stairs to Tails' door and Vanilla knocks. Tails opens the door and smiles at the two rabbits and the chao.

"Hey Vanilla, hey Cream."

The fake Vanilla smiles, saying "Hello there, Tails. Cream here has missed you so much. Its been a while since she's seen you, so I took her here to visit. I hope you don't mind."

Amy giggles to herself as she makes Cream and Cheese hop enthusiastically in response to this. "Yes, Mr. Tails. And there's something I wanted to show you."

Tails grins at the small child as he motions for the three to come inside.

"You do, do you? Well, come on in and make your self at home. I was just experimenting with a more efficient power converter for a Chaos Emerald engine for the Cyclone. Ya wanna see it?"

Vanilla smiles at the young fox, Amy almost wanting to burst out that this was all too easy.

"Sure. We'd love to see it, wouldn't we, Cream?"

"Oh, yes, Mr. Tails. Those emeralds are so pretty, too. I'll show you my surprise after you show us your thingy."

Tails smiles, always happy to show off his inventions to his friends as he makes his way to his workbench. There's the yellow Chaos Emerald within a glass dome, and the dome is hooked up to a pair of jet engines and a rather larger rocket engine.

"Tada! I haven't gotten it quite right, though. But when its done, it'll blow away my previous design for the Tornado 2's Chaos engine. I think it'll even be able to go faster than Sonic!"

"Wow, Mr. Tails, that's great! May I hold the emerald? It's so pretty..."

Tails looks hesitant for a second as Amy chuckles to herself. Much too easy.

"I dunno, Cream. A Chaos Emerald can be pretty dangerous."

"I'll be extra careful, Mr. Tails."

"Please let her, Tails. It would mean so much to her," says Vanilla. As Tails' head is turned away from her, she an evil grin on her face, something that would not seem possible for any of the Rabbit family.

"Hmmm... Alright, if you promise to be careful with it. We don't need anybody accidentally setting off Chaos Control or something in here."

Tails then takes the emerald out of the case and places it in Cream's hand. It begins to glow as it slowly sinks into her subtle hands. Tails looks horrified as he watches this happen, and Cream begins to laugh evilly.

"Now it's my turn to show you something, 'Mr. Tails'."

Cream looks to Vanilla, who begins to shed a puddle of water, which forms into Amy. Tails looks amazed and yet frightened at the same time.

"A... Amy, is that you?! What's happened?! That almost looked like you were Chaos! What have you done to Cream and Vanilla?!"

Amy begins to chuckle a bit as she replies, "You'll find out in due time, Tails. And not just Cream, Cheese and Vanilla, either. I've eliminated Dr. Eggman as well, and also Rouge. Chaos has given me its powers, and with them, Sonic will finally be mine! He'll finally marry me! I just need a few more things... One of them is you, Tails."

"No, no, you can't be Amy! But you are... Let me help you! I can stop whatever's happening to you, before its too late! I care about you, Amy... Why are you acting like this?"

Amy, Cream, Cheese and Vanilla all surround Tails as they say in unison, "Who says I want this to stop? I've always been the damsel in distress, always having to be rescued. Chaos changed that for me. And now, I'll become Sonic's best friend. He'll be so devastated..."

Amy looks down and mutters to herself, "Am I really going through with this?" She looks up at Tails as the Rabbit family dog piles on Tails, then melts, trapping him inside the living water. As it is forced into Tails, his screams muffled by the pile of water that was currently on top of him and rapidly coursing through his body, Amy steps into the pile and says a simple "Yes" just as Tails falls on the ground, trying to crawl away, his two tails twitching as if he were trying to use them to break out, but to no avail.

Tails begins to crawl towards a strange looking raygun, struggling to get up to the counter as he winces in pain. He almost grabs it when suddenly, he passes out as the last parts of the liquid Amy go up his nose and then he melts and reforms, chuckling. He looks back to his twin tails that he was nicknamed for and spins them, lifting him into the air. He lands again and exits the workshop, laughing to himself.

"Now I'm Sonic's best friend. Now for his two greatest rivals. Knuckles shouldn't be too much of a problem, not with Rouge on my side. It's Shadow that I may have to worry about... And then, Sonic will have no choice but to be with me forever. After all, I'd be his greatest love, his rival AND his best friend." Tails morphs into Rouge, who then takes flight, heading towards a large floating island in the distance as she mutters to herself, "Next stop: Angel Island. Now, won't Knux be surprised to see ME there."


Not Tails, too! Will Amy stop at nothing?! Will Knuckles truly be next?! But what of the Master Emerald? How did Chaos escape? Will Amy finally be stopped here, or will she add yet another of her old companions to her collection of sorts? Find out next chapter!
