Summary: One night Fayt wakes up and thoughts dreams and what is the meaning behind them.
Dreamless. Memoriless.
Fayt sat on his bed looking into the dark, lightless night. He wondered about dreams. What they showed, what they told, stories they unfolded. The cryptic, coded messages that people through out the time had tired to interpret, decode. As he sat on his bedding and allowed his thoughts to wander, roam, flow without point, he came to conclusion that he really did not believe that any of those interpreters had really managed to open the messages that subconscious sent to people, in their true meaning.
Why had they failed?
Fayt had no other answer on his belief than because every person was different the symbolism was different and new and unwanted in every single case.
Sighing Fayt closed his eyes and continued on with his drifting thoughts. Dreams with touches, feelings, conversations all long forgotten, memories resurfacing and reminding him of unfinished matters. What did he regret? Not going, but staying? Talking, but not saying? Hearing, but not listening? Too many possibilities and he did not know the right answer.
No. Perhaps Fayt knew the right answer but he was too afraid of the difficulties that would follow with the answer that he was rather a coward and ran away, stayed silent.
The sweat glistered on Fayt’s bare skin as he shifted of slight discomfort on his bedding as cool night breeze rushed over his naked form. He opened his eyes and looked up to the clear night sky. No cloud hindered the brilliance of the moon and stars shining high above him in the endless darkness of night sky. Fayt removed his arm from under the covers and reached up with his hand like he was trying to catch the moon into his hand. Then he allowed it drop back to his lap and lowered his eyes.
What if Fayt could catch the moon and hide it in his hand? What good would it do to him? With whom could he share that wonder and beauty?
The covers beside Fayt rustled and groggy, ruff voice complained about cold air getting under the quilts demanding Fayt to lie back under the covers.
Fayt just smiled and did nothing. He raised his eyes back to the night sky and continued on with his voiceless ranting. Dreams of birth and death and rebirth and eternal destruction, unsatisfaction that prevented joy and happiness to enter life by reminding him that his choices had been final and there was no way of chancing the course of fate, destiny and karma. He could not recall. He had his dreams giving him hints but why could he not encode them? What was stopping him from taking the last step to gain the understanding?
“LEINGOD!” Hugely annoyed yell pierced the peaceful night air, surprised Fayt and woke up every single person in their campsite. Bandaged arm appeared amongst the covers, snaked around Fayt’s waist and pulled him under the covers. “You are a fucking moron”, owner of the hand complained drawing Fayt against his naked body, “thinking too difficult matters in the middle of the night when you are supposed to sleep!”
Fayt smiled sadly and snuggled closer the warm, strong body, the person who had swore to keep him safe and sound. “I love you, Albel”, Fayt breathed against the other’s muscled chest.
Fayt’s answer was annoyed huff and silent mutter of ‘love you too, now sleep, fool!’.
Inside the safe circle of Albel’s arms Fayt reminded himself that no matter, what his dreams, his subconscious tried to convince him… Albel Nox simply was not person that said things like ‘I love you’ unless he truly meant them. No half-remembered dream, no long forgotten memory could take this reality away from Fayt.
Even if it was just a dream inside dream, a memory among memories.
Author’s Note: … … … Just… too… WAFF… but I could not come up with anything better. Sorry. My brains were still on Christmas Holiday when I wrote this one…
