The mid-day sun was already shining through the window, glistening and warming up both men’s faces. Motes of dancing dust swayed through the sun rays across the room; there was a slight taste of nostalgia in the air.

Crikton was already awake, he had stayed awake since the incident that night, but he had waited patiently for his friend to wake up, thinking and pondering that it would, maybe, be a great idea to leave behind last night’s incidents so that Zeyhan could make a recovery out of everything. He knew him, he had known him straight from when they met the first times; Zeyhan was a frail, fragile man; unlike many he had encountered through the course of his life; to the eyes of everyone else he might have seemed normal, even uninteresting, but Zeyhan was different in every sense. The elf was as clear as glass; Crikton could see right past through him, even when he wished to grant Zeyhan some kind of emotional privacy.  The Paladin was not like many of the bearers of the Light that Crikton had had the chance to meet; he was weaker than most of them; but even though, that was not something that Crikton found bad, all the other, he found it interesting and appealing. Zeyhan’s background was not as interesting nor blurry and mysterious as Crikton’s was, but it was the elf itself who made everything shine in a different kind of light. Yes, it may even sound corny, and Crikton laughed at the thought, his chest slightly shaking the man on top, but he knew that his thoughts were real; he knew that Zeyhan was special; a special man, and a special person so dear to him. His kind heart and pure thoughts seemed almost childish to Crikton’s eyes; only innocent children carried such emotions within them; things that would finally fade away when their innocence has come to an end.

The Warrior knew he was not like Zeyhan, he had a lot of disturbing thoughts, evil intentions, and he had even done bad things to other people; things he regretted later, as most things that everyone regrets after doing in life. He had been foolish to believe that maybe nightmares wouldn’t find a way to his dreams, he had been naive to think that perhaps his actions wouldn’t haunt him back; but they did, even if he didn’t show it on the outside, his mind was being constantly bombarded by the bad things he had done, and the bad things he knew he was eventually, some day or hopefully never, going to do.

Zeyhan’s green eyes slowly opened at the brightness of the room; he stretched, yawning and then curling up against Crikton. He was warm, comfortable and at ease.

‘’So, you are awake.’’ Crikton spoke to him, running his hand up and down Zeyhan’s arm.

Zeyhan nodded slowly, rising up and staring at the human holding him tight.

‘’Uhm… Yeah…’’

‘’Here, eat something, it should do you good.’’ The warrior extended his arm to grab some of the food that Zeyhan had brought him the day before, and handed it to the elf, who caught it with a shaky, sleepy hand and bit down.

‘’We should get going; take a bath and dress up, I should already be heading my way.’’ Crikton spoke bluntly, his intentions were not of hurting Zeyhan, but the elf’s bewildered look on his eyes was something he hadn’t hoped. ‘’What?’’

‘’It’s just that… May I go with you? You know, after I asked Keyrna for help, I think that my companionship with Alliance members will just turn me into… a betrayer of my own people… I know Keyrna’s intentions were not those of telling on me, but I sense she did tell her family about it… and you know how rumors spread fast, don’t you?’’ Zeyhan spoke quickly and nervously, hoping that Crikton wouldn’t deny his request.

The Warrior nodded, patting Zeyhan.

‘’Of course you can come with me. Sometimes you will have to wait for me in uncontested territories until I return, but you can…’’ He stood up, pushing Zeyhan slightly away to be able to raise himself from the bed. ‘’Now hurry up.’’ He said whilst putting on his heavy plated armor.

Zeyhan did as he was being asked, slowly walking up to the bathroom and closing the door behind him. He placed some buckets of water to heat up whilst undressing quickly, then untying his hair, which cascaded down his back; long, fair, and dirty. He slid himself in the bathtub, pouring the warm water on him, and quickly washing his body, rinsing his face and massaging his skull.

Meanwhile, Crikton already dressed up and with the last of things packed up, came back to the room after buying supplies from the innkeeper and cleaned up the mess from the night before. He then sat back on the bed and waited for Zeyhan to come out.

Once both men were ready, they headed outside and walked across the decks and on to the boat that would take them to Ratchet, in Kalimdor.  The day was rather hot, and the sun was high up in the sky by then, shining over their heads and glimmering in their armor’s reflection.

‘’We are going to Felwood. I have some business there, and I need to meet up with some colleagues of mine. You can come if you please.’’ Crikton said, looking towards the horizon, waiting for the next boat to arrive.

‘’Uhm… Ok, I’ll go with you. I have no chores and I’m not in a hurry for going back.’’ The Elf demanded cockily.

They waited under the sun for just some minutes, being observed by two goblins standing nearby. A boat came quickly by and stopped at the bay, from where two Taurens came out. They looked like druids, and they soon walked away staring at Crikton in fear, though they knew the man would probably think twice before bringing up any harm on them because of the several bad-tempered looking goblins standing all over the place.

Zeyhan and Crikton walked up to the boat and in to one of the many cabins.

‘’The trip is rather long; I think we will be arriving by nighttime. ’’ The human said, throwing himself violently on the small bed and looking back at Zeyhan, who stood under the doorstep. ‘’You might as well get some rest or find something to do because if not we’ll get ourselves bored too soon.’’

‘’Thanks for the advice’’ Laughed the elf, and headed out to deck, where he leaned against the wooden handrail of the boat and looked at the water bumping and crashing in small waves against the side of the boat.

They soon felt movement, and the boat began its trip towards Ratchet.

Zeyhan’s thoughts drifted back to the time when he was younger; a fool in what he thought was love. Her face was beautiful, her red hair slightly curled and framing her delicate factions; her dark purple robes just popping up her figure and womanly attributes. She had been a family friend since he was very young, and he had sort of liked her for some time by that moment. Khamir was a beautiful, delicate Mage, and her magic and spells were as stunning as her looks.

Zeyhan laughed, his eyes drifting from cloud to cloud, occasionally to the water and the clashing waves. She had been always nice to him, but they hadn’t seen each other for some years now. He didn’t really know what was up with her, what had been of her graceful being.

Yes, he had liked her, and yes… He also knew she had liked him as well. There was this night in which they shared some mutual private feelings for each other, one thing led to another, and they soon ended up kissing passionately, completely naked, their bodies sweating and touching each other with longing. That was the first time for both of them, but there were soon to be more.

The Blood Elf remember with eagerness the first time he had touched her soft body; he laughed at the thought of thinking he had loved her; he was not being mean, but he certainly was confused at that time. He liked her, he was fond of her, but he didn’t truly love her; it was more of a physical thing. A thing which got Zeyhan in a hell lot of confusing thoughts about what was right and what was wrong; about his personal choices and the choices some made. He saw as his mates engaged in relationships with partners of the opposite sex, and he thought he had a chance at doing so too, with this girl Khamir, or with any other girl he might have liked. But when he met this man… When Crikton came into his life, his mind became like a hurricane of thoughts, a whirlpool spinning and spinning out of control; confusing him, panicking him. Did he like this man? Did he feel something for him that was stronger than friendship, even stronger than the bond he had began to share with Khamir?  He had never seen men dating other men, and he had once had the chance to talk it up with his closest mates, but all they did was laugh at his thoughts and tell him how wrong it was; but they didn’t know, they were not like him... He couldn’t understand how others could make fun of that; of love. Why did it have to matter the sex of the other person you loved so much? … Yes, love… But he also began to learn about his feelings, his new awakened feelings within him… They felt like love, but there was also something more, something that Zeyhan, being so young and naive at that time, didn’t fully comprehend… Desire… Yes, lust. He knew it, he now knew what he had been feeling all those years back; but it took a lot of personal, inner struggle to finally come to terms with those emotions.

His family didn’t know about that, and the only person he had dared to speak to about his new strange feelings towards other members of the same sex had been with his friend Khamir; who just laughed and understood him, as her sister had been sharing an affair with another woman and she was the only one to know about it. You must not be ashamed of who you are, she had told him, smiling as she held his face on her palms, and you must never keep any feelings of love and goodness to yourself, let them show, they are the most precious thing about us; the most precious possession you can offer to someone else, no matter what. She was wise and understanding, and he thanked the Light for having made her his best childhood friend, however, he never told her who the man behind his mixed up emotions was; she never guessed it was for a member of the opposing faction for whom Zeyhan felt so disturbed about.

His thoughts came down back to the boat, were the sun shone above his head and the slight swaying movement brought a feeling of sickness to his stomach; so he considered it might be wise to sleep instead of remaining awake. He walked back to the cabin where Crikton lay sleeping on the bed, and sat on a couch by the door, using his hand as a pillow and curving his body, molding it against the form of the soft couch, he tried to conceal sleep.

A few hours had passed, the sun was down, resting upon the line of the horizon, just over the sea, and the two men inside the cabin were sleeping, waiting for the boat to finally arrive at their destination.

The salty air of the ocean, the freshness of it, the nice day outside and the easygoing, rocking motion of the boat helped within their sleep to make it something more comfortable for their minds to rest, and sooner than expected the boat’s speed was slowing down, and they woke up to a sudden stop. The boat was not moving anymore, they had arrived to Ratchet.

‘’Come on, let’s go.’’ Zeyhan said, waking up and rising himself from the chair, waving an arm at Crikton and using his other hand to rub his sleepy face.

Both men headed out, the night was cold and a slight wind blew from the sea. As they set foot on firm land, Crikton called for his black steed whilst Zeyhan mounted on his raptor. The horse neighed as the raptor attempted to bite his quarter backs; and Zeyhan commanded for him to stop; and the raptor obeyed quickly, looking forward and ignoring the whinny steed.

‘’Watch it, your raptor seems hungry.’’ Crikton said as he rode off, Zeyhan following him.

‘’I know, when we stop I’ll feed him properly. ’’

Crikton grunted, it didn’t seem funny at all to have a hungry beast just at the back of him.

‘’You’d better do so. ’’ He said.

And after that, they both went silent for some time; riding quickly through dessert lands and heading up, north-west, to Felwood.
