A Promise

(Spring 1476)

“Alucard!” Violet spoke happily as she had walked out of her small home. The girl was now 18 years old and she had lived in a small cottage just outside the town. The only person that stayed with her was Alucard. “You seem well.” He smiled politely as Violet had worn a town dress that she had sewn together. She had gained a bit of color to her skin since she was not malnourished anymore. Her pale brown hair was healthier and she still had that tiny figure. Wrapping her arms around Alucard’s waist, Violet was only able to hug him and hid her face in his shirt.

“I was able to prepare some chicken for supper. Is that okay?” Violet asked. “Yes.” Alucard nodded and hugged her tight. He held Violet gently and kissed her forehead. He had told Violet that he was a Dhampire and that he had planned on stopping his father. While he had remained in the same house as Violet, he gave her the right amount of space. He did not sleep with her in the same bed. The young woman was not ready for that especially after being raped by one of the vampires that stayed within Castlevania. Alucard did not want to pressure her and he wanted Violet to be comfortable with him.

She was one of the few that hung around Alucard knowing that he was a half-vampire. Violet returned the kiss by placing her lips gently on the tip of his chin since the man was taller than her. “She’s grown a lot since I’ve stayed with her. No matter how much hatred she has for herself, she refuses to harm herself anymore…but I don’t want her to be belittled. I can’t see her in pain. Mother suffered and now this girl…” Alucard’s thoughts trailed off until Violet called out his name. “Violet, let’s eat and then take a walk around the town together.” Alucard said as he took the girl’s hand.

“Of course.” Violet nodded and the two entered the house. The small house was immaculate from the inside out. In the kitchen, Violet had grabbed the chicken and salad. She had already set the table in the dining room and the bedrooms were cleaned and straightened out. “Alucard…you mentioned about stopping your father when you took me in.” Violet spoke just before she was startled by the man being right behind her. “I apologize, but yes, I will have to go to Castlevania and stop him. He wants to rid the humans because of Mother’s death while she taught me that we must not hate them.” Alucard spoke as he took the platters from the girl’s hands and placed them on the countertops.

“Alucard…I-I’m sorry…I know I share a similar hatred towards the ones that treated me less than dirt.” Violet said nervously. She did not want to become violent, but something in her mind insisted her on getting revenge. “You’re a young woman now and I need you to stay here while I am gone. If you follow, Father will trap you to be used against me.” Alucard frowned as he pulled Violet into his arms. Violet’s eyes widened as she felt Alucard’s sincerity. “I need to tell you something Alucard…when I was there, I learned something. I do not know whether it will keep me alive but-if I stay here…I will fall. Because, I have learned the arts.” Violet admitted to him as she clenched a fist to show a purple flame.

“Violet…?” Alucard was surprised. Violet had a gentle smile on her face and she flicked the flames out. “I’m not letting you go alone Alucard-or Adrian.” Violet said as she hugged him. Alucard did not know what to expect and picked her up off the floor. “H-Hey!” Violet was embarrassed. Alucard had a smirk on his face and kissed Violet deeply. “I won’t let you cry anymore. Your tears will never have a need to shed no longer.” he assured her. “I just want to be useful to you and only you Alucard.” Violet nodded as she hid her face in his shirt once more. The sky had gone darker as the hours past and the two walked through the streets of the busy town.

“I’ve never been out at night before, well, not with anyone.” Violet said as she blushed faintly. She held onto his arm hoping that she would not separate from him. Alucard looked down at her and nodded. “Of course, you are good company Violet. Going out at night was a good idea.” He said as the two continued to walk. The two spotted the small festival and stayed to watch the fireworks. “It’s pretty…” Viole t spoke happily.

“Just enjoy this with me and everything will be fine.” Alucrad pulled Violet closer to him. “Alucard?” Violet called out to him. “Yes?” He responded. “Promise that I will be yours and no one else’s.” She pleaded as she held onto him tight. Violet’s body was shivering. Alucard knew that Violet was scared of losing him and she did not want to be with anyone else either. He did take care of her and helped her learn what it was like to accept people. “I won’t leave you to wither.” Alucard pressed his lips against hers.
