HaloCell5: Animosity
HaloCell5: Animosity
He woke up to a surprisingly quiet cave, and a fully clothed Sam wrapped in his arms. He wondered when that had happened. He was surprised he had fallen asleep; he wasn’t tired so he didn’t need the rest. The cave was dark, even when Dawn had started to show faint glimpses of herself. Sam shifted in his arms as he had begun to doze off again. Two bright green eyes stared at him. They looked cautious, as if waiting for something and cold. Unusually cold and distant. He then realized Sam wasn’t looking at him, he was looking past him. Sam took his knife and gave it to him, still not looking at him. John took the knife and used it to try to see what had caught Sam’s attention.
At first he didn’t see anything, but then he saw one of his teammates hiding among the rocks, and dangerously close to him, a Roman. He remembered they always attack in teams, no less than two, yet he only saw one. Where was the other one? Sam took back his knife and attempted to break free from the Spartan’s hold. Who, much to his aggravation, wouldn’t let go. Fisher stared him down annoyed, as they found themselves in a weird tug-of-war. Finally, the Spartan had no choice but to let go, and Sam slithered away from him into the darkness.
“Flash bang” whispered Sam in his ear.
John was surprised, that spy was damn good. That first time they met, Sam could have easily taken him down, if he hadn’t had Cortana to warned him. She had actually saved him, as odd as that sounded.
He couldn’t see Sam and he wasn’t sure if he should move or not. Seconds later he heard a noise, like falling rocks. Sam. The other Roman revealed himself and walked towards the noise and away from him, which gave him a chance to get up and reach his armor. He tried not to make too much noise, while he was getting in it. Once he had it on, he could see Sam clear as day, the Romans were right below him, if they looked up they would see him.
“Flash bang everyone, look away……….and take them out.” said the Spartan to the rest of his team “Tara, Jimmy, hold them fast…… you have to break their spine.”
“Any way in particular, Master Chief?” asked Tara
“Get creative, but get it done” answered John.
Everyone looked away, as Sam released the flash bang that blinded the two Romans. Tara and Jimmy got hold of them quickly. Tara took out her knife and stabbed one of them between two bones in his neck; she used it as leverage as she snapped them apart. Jimmy lifted the confused Roman and shattered his spine against a rock.
“Stealth asshole, Stealth!” said Sam, they both had been noisy.
“Here let me show ya how I break yar back ya littla shit!” yelled Jimmy.
“Shut up!” ordered Master Chief “you touch him and I kill you”
“Make that a we Master Chief” said Tara “I like him, he’s very smart,… by the way are you married Fisher?”
“Widowed” answered Sam as he looked outside, checking there wasn’t anymore Romans around.
“So…not looking… at all?” asked Tara a little disappointed.
“No” Sam was cold and direct.
All was quiet, and it would remain quiet for hours after.
They had left the cave, and took their chances in the forest. They were walking blind so to speak. The Roman’s disruption devices made wireless communication nearly impossible. The interference was affecting Cortana as well, they only relied on their basic map-reading skills.
They walked in a tight group, keeping alert at all times. Romans were fast, and they could use a moment of distraction to attack again. By now they were more than aware Romans were looking for them, especially Fisher. This made almost everyone angry.
“We wouldn’t be in this mess, if Master Chief hadn’t let that little mouse tag along!” said Jimmy
“I can’t believe he did what we couldn’t” insinuated another.
“All I gotta say is this: if it’s up to me I’m not saving him!” said Jimmy
“If Master Chief hears you…” Tara started to say
“If he hears me what? I don’t give a shit; everyone here thinks the same way” Jimmy gave her sly smile inside his helmet “Besides Tara, accidents happen”
“You asshole” she walked away.
Master Chief could hear the conversation held, and he worried. Animosity towards Sam was rising in his team, and at the moment that was a far more dangerous enemy than the Romans. Maybe he should tell them about the important information Sam carries. He reconsidered, knowing them and especially Jimmy; they would all vote for tearing off his arm, and taking the Opsat. He realized if he had thought about it, so will they. He moved closer to Fisher, covering all possible attack angles they could use.
“Humph!” grunted Jimmy seeing the Chief’s move. Now he knew the Chief had heard everything.

Fisher thought about the night before, deep down he questions his own feelings. He told himself there were none. It had been weird and certainly new to him, but he had just given into his own lust. He felt uncomfortable just thinking about it, in his mind he felt like the woman, and that just pissed him off. The fact that he was questioning his own masculinity made it even worst. He tightened his grip on his rifle, anger coursed thru him like water in a river. He pictured all the women he had slept with, and all of those fine specimens of the female gender he had encountered in his missions. Most of them with wonderful qualities, not only of mind of course. He pictured them all naked, huddled together and in their most sexually attractive moment. Every man’s dream. He smiled enjoying his little fantasy; he still liked women they were his favorite topping.
Then he instantly questioned that Spartan’s intention, first he does what he did and then he apologizes, just like that. He quickly realized, that by giving into the passion and lust the of the moment he had reinforced, whatever the Spartan’s intentions were. Whether he was using him, humiliating him, or…something else. What that something else was, he hadn’t figure that out yet. So he is left with more questions than what he started with, and very little answered.
----
There was a rustle of leaves nearby. Everyone stopped, listened. Suddenly, a Roman came sprinting out of the bushes. He ran towards Sam at great speed. Without thinking about it, Sam raised his rifle and fired a sticky shocker at him, it hit the Roman on the head; causing the helmet he wore to electrocute him. His rapid action amazed everyone, who thought him cold-blooded for a moment.
“How many of those do you have left?” asked Tara
“Not enough” answered Fisher
Two more Roman tried to reach Fisher. Master Chief grabbed one hurled him in the air and pierced his spine with his knife. The other one was intercepted by Jimmy and another Spartan, who kicked him on the back, breaking the spine in two different places. All was still again. They all knew they were surrounded, and that the enemy was rethinking their attack plan. A new strategy was being devised at the moment. Fighting was inevitable.
In the blink of an eye they all jumped out the bushes and attacked them. Everyone had their hands full, even Fisher. Their attack seemed blunt and devoid of strategy, perhaps these new soldiers weren’t as smart as they thought. None of them used any kind of weapon, just hand to hand techniques; none of it made sense. They were all careful of not leave any openings to have their spines chattered. They say the best defense is a good offense, well these guys took it to heart. These Romans never stopped to think their next attack or asses the situation at all, their stamina seemed never ending, but so was that of the Spartans.
Fisher had grown accustomed to their speed, and decided to act and not think. It all depended on how much muscle memory he had from all the training as a SEAL and Krav Maga. One of them came at him, he shot at him to slow him down then in a quick move, he placed himself right below him and landed and upward kick to his jaw. There was a cracking noise and the Roman bled from the mouth. Another low sweeping kick to his leg brought him down, where his body met Fisher’s knife, and that was the end of it. He picked the Roman’s pistol, which was unusually heavy, and emptied the clip on a couple of women that were ganging up on the Chief. Who in his turn took this opportunity to kill them both, but soon he had two more on him again. It was getting hard to fight them. Yet Fisher went on, shooting, kicking and getting kicked.
Master Chief knew that while he was enhanced to fight, there was a limit to Sam’s stamina and strength.
“We are gonna make an opening for Fisher” said the Chief
“Will he know when to take it?” asked Tara
“He will” he answered “As soon as he runs, everyone make sure to keep your opponents busy so they won’t follow.”
“All right lets do this!” said an excited Spartan
“HOORAH!” seconded another.
“..and Tara, go with him” whispered the Chief, only to her “I can only trust you”
“No worries Chief” was her answer.
