Chapter Six: Hidden Fear Within A Shadow Knight

Maya cried out, the massive dire badger had sunk his sharp teeth into the middle of her staff. Her back on the ground she struggled to kick it away from her. While Krypton released his arrows into the dire badger he'd been fighting.

From the corner of his eye, Krypton could see Maya's struggling and sent a desease bolt it's way. The dire badger went flying to the side, glowing yellow green. Giving Maya a chance to get up and slam her staff into it's face. Before she could kill it herself, an arrow flew and lodged it's way into the beast's heart. Maya looked back at Krypton. He patted her shoulder and made sure the Dire Badger fell to the ground.

" Bloody hamsters." He muttered to himself.

" It's a Dire Badger, Krypton." Maya corrected.

" It looks like an overgrown dwarf hamster to me." He said and looked ahead of them between two fallen trees. Where the first dungeon, which needed to be cleared of goblins. There however stood a heavly armed and armored goblin with a sheild.

" Let me handle this one, Maya." Krypton requested and drew his sword and wistled for Boner to stop his fun with the goblins and follow his master. Maya stood there leaning on her staff. Watching Krypton as he appraoched the goblin." Let us pass." Krypton demanded in the goblin language.

" Nay!" The goblin responded in the same language Krypton used.

" Then you leave me with no choice." With that, Krypton lifted his sword,his blade slamming into the blade of the goblins. The goblin lifted his leg to kick Krypon back. But that did not faze him at all. Krypton released desease bolt. The goblin back, writhing slightly. But struck down the skeleton none the less as he come towards the goblin.

" Use another!" Called Maya.

" Out of Mana!" He cried and blocked the goblin's sword with his own. Finding no time to dig and drink and mana potion. Maya shook her head and lifted her staff, she ran towards the fighting males and slammed the end of her staff hard in the goblin's chest, sending him back. The took several more swipes. Before jumping back," There is an exposed part of him!" She called.

Krypton's eyes glanced the goblin up and down as his sword slammed into the goblin's again. His ruby orbs saw some green skin, exposed from the neck part. He smirked and within one fluid motion, thrust out one of three daggers he had cased at the side of his thigh and stabbed the goblin in the throat.Weakened the goblin's sword slipped away from Krypton's, removing his helmet, the goblin held tightly to this bleeding throat, as he finally fell to the ground and died.

Krypton caught his breath, then turned to look at Maya from, under his helmet. " How did you know his neck was exposed?" He asked her.

Maya shrugged," It is not that hard to see green mixed with cast iron armor. You just needed to look more closer where the helmet met the callor of the breast plate." She explained," You, yourself surprised me. You spoke his language."

" I know different languages, Maya. " He said and walked towards the dungeon stares, Maya still stood there for a moment,his firm voice snapped her back into reality," There's still much ground to cover, lets go."

She nodded and walked behind him down the dark stairs." Are you afriad?" Maya asked as she walked beside Krypton.

He took a deep breath and glanced arounnd quickly," Why? No I'm...not...afraid...." he cleared his throat. His eyes suspiciouly eyeballing a cobweb above him.

" You are so!" Maya snapped as they reached the bottom of the stairs.

Krypton turned to her," Am not!"

" Then why are you so defensive?" She asked.

" I'm not being defensive...." his voice trailed off as he looked around the dungeons. And drew his bow and arrows. " Looks like a good place to have a mental breakdown." He stated and glanced back at the elf behind him with her staff. She rolled her eyes and shook her head.

He lifted his bow, aimed and shot an barrel,wich exploded not too far from them, several goblins fell
into their veiw upon the ground. They approached to see what little the goblins had.Krypton knelt down to a dead goblin and yanked a small bag from his side.Pulled off one of his gloves and dug through it.

That was when Maya saw the ring he wore." Where'd you get the ring?" She asked.

Krypton pulled out some gold coins from the dead goblin's bag,"What?"He asked.

" That black pearled ring, where did you get it?" She asked, gestering to the ring on his slender blue finger.

Krypton did not answer her right away,and stood, slidding his glove back on." We must get a move on."Was all he said. And walked into another chamber."Why are their underground dungeons in Kelethin and the Faydark?" He asked after moments of silence. His sword out this time. One hanf reaching in his side bag to get a mana vial. Flipping it open, he drank from it and felt his magic regenerate.

" Thats better. " He muttered to himself and summoned Boner.He looked back at Maya," Be ready this room, behind the wall is filled with goblins and..." He paused and put his ear to the stone wall,"...two goblin shamans.( Spelled wrong?)" He said.

Back and slammed his sword into the wall,where a portion of it collasped. Behind the wall, several goblins started perplexed at the two. Krypton smirked and lifted his free hand, and sent a desease bolt towards one of the shaman. It was then the goblins attacked.

Maya lifted her staff and slammed it into the gut of two goblins. While Krypton ran pass three goblins and left them to Boner. He shoved a shaman back and stabbed him, then looked for the second. He backed up into the wall and whipped out his little spell book and glanced up at Boner and Maya. They seemed fine.

So he quickly flipped though the book and found what he was looking for." Haven't had to use this one in a while." He said to himself and used his magic, lifting his hand again, this time the dead shaman he killed came back to life. And began serving on Krypton's side. He used his magic to strike the hidding shaman.

Who came running from the shadows, towards Maya. Maya turned about quickly, her staff slammed into the shaman's staff. She blocked for several moments, then slammed the end into the front of his throat. While Krypton finished off the goblins in that chamber.

Boner on the other hand stood there, watching Maya, struggling with the shaman. Krypton lifted an eyebrow and approached," Do your job." He said to Boner, he tossed three throwing daggers( Which were cased on one side of his thigh) at the shaman. Slicing him in the stomach, leg, and throat. Maya stood up straight and let the shaman fall to the hard ground.

She turned to Krypton," Thank you." She said.

Krypton bowed his head slightly," Tis my duty to make sure you stay alive." He responded. Then lead her toward another downward stair. Leading to another level.
