Bloody Domination 2: Straitjacket

Co-Written by Harley Quinn hyenaholic and Froggy22651

Harley: Oh, Disaster Master, you poor sucker. By reading this fanfic, you have been magically transformed from straight, into Freddie Mercury. But that’s okay, because girls will still throw their underwear at you.

Froggy: Harley’s just kidding you, DM. Nobody will think any less of you for reading yaoi, just like nobody will think any less of you for being a furry. Unless they’re assholes.

Harley: Hey, it’s Valentines Day today. Odds are a few of you don’t want to reminded about that, so there’s nothing particularly romantic about this chapter. It really is taking a while to build up to the sex. But hey, nobody just leaps into bed with each other. Especially not Sonic and Shadow.

Chapter Six: Trust

Shadow shuddered in mental and physical exhaustion. He felt... so goddamn tired. They must have upped his medication again, he'd had the most crazy dream last- "HOLY SHIT!" he screamed as his eyes opened. This wasn't his padded cell. He wasn't in his straitjacket, "OHGODOHGODOHGOD!!!" He sat up straight, staring down at the couch, up at the ceiling, and around at the badly decorated living room, "WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!" he yelled.

Half-stumbling into the room with his comb still stuck in his quills, Sonic cried out, wide-eyed, "What?! What?! What is it?! What's going on?"

"Wha- what are you doing here?!" Shadow sat up, "Where am I? This isn't the hospital! Shit, if I'm hallucinating again, where are all the purple monkeys?!"

"I took you to my place. Relax, will you?" Sonic spoke, exasperated. He pulled his comb out of his quills and put it down, "Remember? Us escaping and all that?" How could anyone be so damn high-strung?

Shadow rubbed his forehead, trying to remember... "Just separate reality from fantasy and you'll be fine," his shadow told him.

"Yeah, I guess..." he muttered. He reached around and rubbed his sore back, "Man, did I really take those tranquilizers for you?" he asked Sonic, "I feel like I just... died and woke up again... again... again. Happens a lot lately."

"You'll be feeling normal again soon enough,” Sonic assured him, sitting down. The blue hedgehog felt relieved; from how Shadow reacted when he woke up, he thought that GUN had just smashed through the window.

"Wow, that makes me feel so much better," Shadow replied. He looked at the plain white gloves on his hands, and then at his bare feet, "Have you got a pair of shoes I can borrow?" he asked, "Until I get my stuff back, anyway."

Nodding, Sonic got up and walked over to his closet. He rummaged around inside it for a while, it and his home being an unorganized mess. Finding what he was looking for, he stood up and tossed a pair of old shoes at Shadow's feet, the same red and white sneakers with that he usually wore, only lacking the golden buckles, "Not your style, I know,” he said sheepishly.

"I'll say," Shadow scowled, but pulled them on. They were a perfect fit, but it sure felt different from wearing the hover jets sneakers he was used to, "And now I've got to go," he said, walking towards the door.

Doing a double-take, the hedgehog stepped over towards the dark hedgehog. "Huh? Where are you going?" he asked quickly. The guy had just woken up from being drugged and he was already leaving?

"I have to leave," Shadow replied, "I have to get out of here. GUN is after me and this is the first place they'll come to. The moment you started helping me your life as a hero was over! If they find me here we're both done for; if I leave, you can probably talk your way out of it and say I forced you to help you or something. I can manage just fine on my own."

Sonic scoffed at the idea of not being a hero, as if it was something that GUN could write off his records. He knew what he was, and no-one could take that away from him. "Relax,” he told Shadow, starting to explain, "I had Tails erase all records of where I live. We're off the grid, pal."

"No, I'm better off on my own," Shadow said calmly and obstinately, "Besides, I've got... stuff to do. If you really want to stop me you'll have to force me to stay."

Sonic was about to let him go, feeling that Shadow's choices were his own, but then the dark hedgehog's words in the hospital came back to him. Making up his mind, Sonic grabbed Shadow's arm and hauled him back inside the house, saying, "You're not going anywhere!"

"Let GO of me, you stupid blue fake!" Shadow snarled, pushing him away violently, "I'll do whatever the hell I like! I'm the Ultimate Lifeform, and you'd better not forget that!"

Sonic didn't want to fight, but it was apparently something that he needed to do. Shoving back just as hard, he called out, "And I saved your spiky butt from those pathetic humans, Mr. Ultimate! You owe me, Shadow!"

"I can't just sit here all day on my ass for the rest of my life!" Shadow replied, his eyes blazing a furious crimson, "And you can't sit here watching me! I don't owe you shit! You dropped me!"

"I did not drop you, you psycho!" Sonic raged, slamming Shadow against the wall. That part wasn't an act. Glaring into his eyes, he spoke, "You haven't recovered from the drugs yet, and we're safe from GUN here. My life is on the line now, too, so you're staying here for a while."

"Well your life won't be on the line if I'm not here!" Shadow snarled back, pushing Sonic right back, "How do you know they don't know where you are? How do I know you're not having second thoughts about all this shit and lying to me? I'd be having second thoughts if I'd rescued me!"

"Because I made a promise to help you, and I meant it!" Sonic shouted, tired of Shadow's typically ungrateful attitude. He thought that of all people, he would understand the importance of a promise.

That shut Shadow up. He glared at Sonic, but pulled away from him, "Yeah..." he muttered, "You're always making promises, aren't you." He sat down on the couch, "So now what - I'm stuck in this hole of yours until you think I'm better? You're as bad as the doctors - possibly worse! At least they didn't live in a damn pigsty!" He gestured at the room. 'Pigsty' was the right word.

"Hey, I resent that! The place is just... lived-in,” Sonic insisted, offended. Shaking his head, he added, "I just want you to stay until GUN eases up, ok? The military is going nuts looking for you."

"You think I don't know that?" Shadow sneered, "And just what are you gonna tell your friends when they call in on you, huh?" he mimicked Sonic's voice, "Hey, guys, I've just got a convicted rapist and psychopath living in my house for a few days, hope you don't mind!"

Sonic sat down with a sigh. "I just won't mention you, ok? Now are you going to calm down for just a few minutes? You're free!"

"Being free feels a lot like being high on Thorazine," Shadow replied, "I keep... expecting to wake up back in my cell and it's all just been another crazy dream..."

"You're out of that place,” Sonic assured him with a smile, "They aren't going to stick you in a cell or force-feed you any longer. I’m not going to betray you."

"I know, I know…" Shadow looked up, smiling properly for the first time, then frowned, "You don't mind lying for me?"

"It's not lying. It's a just a careful omission of the truth,” Sonic replied with a wink.

Shadow sneered, "Yeah, you just don't tell anybody," he said nastily, "What happens when somebody comes to visit? Are you going to shove me in the closet or something?"

"Sure, but try not to get lost in there,” Sonic joked.

"I'm being serious, Sonic," Shadow said, "What're you going to do if that little... if Miles comes around for a visit?"

"Run and hide?" Sonic suggested, scratching his head, "I don't know. I'm making this up as I go. Eggman threw everything off."

"I would've gone with him if you hadn't come," Shadow admitted, "But I was... damn glad to see you. I wonder what that fat bastard wanted..."

"World domination. What else?" Sonic spoke with a shrug. For all of his genius, Eggman truly was predictable, and he just couldn't figure out a way to take Sonic by surprise.

"Yeah, that as well," Shadow acknowledged. He rubbed the back of his head and lay down on the sofa, not looking at Sonic, "And I still feel fucking useless just lying around here... what's the point in being free if I can't go out? You're acting like Gerald. Next you're going to be lecturing me about the right stuff to eat..."

"Chilli dogs with the works, heavy on the jalapenos!" Sonic said cheerfully, sitting back. More seriously, he added, "I just don't want you to go get caught by GUN already. It'd make this whole mess worthless, ya know? Just give it some time."

"Yeah, but..." Shadow groaned, "Okay, I'll be straight with you. I want to get out of here and start apologising my ass off to the others, if they don't try to kill me on sight, that is."

"Oh,” Sonic uttered, suddenly very quiet, contemplating Shadow's wish. Somehow, he doubted that any apologising would end very well, but he could understand the desire to.

"I mean..." Shadow covered his face with a cushion, "Sure, it's not going to change anything... But at least I'll have said it."

He felt guilty for what he had done. That was a good sign, "I know,” Sonic replied, "Hey, maybe it'll help them too. I'll... I'll see what I can do to arrange it, alright?" Privately, Sonic hoped that it didn't turn out as messy as he suspected it would.

"You what?" Shadow put aside the cushion and looked up at Sonic as if he couldn't quite believe what he had heard, "Are you crazy?! They'll turn us both in!"

It certainly was a possibility, but Sonic doubted that it would come to that. Tails was still loyal to him, and Amy was too crazy about him to turn him in. Knuckles, on the other hand... well, perhaps it was best to leave Knuckles out of it. "They can try again,” Sonic quipped back with a grin.

"You're a moron, Sonic," Shadow covered his face again and rolled onto his side with a sigh, "Getting shot bloody hurts, you know? Even if you do survive it."

"So does getting hit by gravel at mach speed, but you never hear me complaining!" Sonic replied cheerfully, "Take it easy, man! I know what I'm doing." And he sounded so certain of it, too. He always seemed to succeed, no matter what the odds, and his attitude never seemed to falter.

Shadow groaned quietly, still not looking at Sonic. This time he didn't want to answer Sonic. He knew, just knew that it was all going to go wrong but there was no way to convince Sonic otherwise, the bastard was so damn cheerful all the time... he shuddered, feeling all wrong. About now he'd be getting his morning medication. It felt really weird not getting it... he almost wished he was getting it, which was strange because when he did get it he hated it, "You always do," he said, after a long silence.

"...You'd be surprised,” Sonic commented off-hand, standing up slowly. "Hey, are you hungry? You couldn't have eaten in a while. Want me to whip something up?" he asked.

"Well..." Shadow looked up over the back of the couch and into the kitchen. That was clean enough. All Sonic really used was the microwave, "Yeah, okay."

"Anything in particular?" The blue hedgehog called out as he looked through his pantry rapidly, sorting through items well past their expiration date.

"To tell the truth I haven't eaten anything other than 'nutritious paste' for fifty years," Shadow called back, "Maria sneaked me a hamburger once."

Sonic leaned out to look through the doorway, giving the dark hedgehog a strange look, "That's it? ...Uh, hamburger it is!" And with that, Sonic was zipping around the room, tossing a burger on the grill, chopping up and preparing all the toppings he could think of. Since he didn't know what Shadow wanted (and Shadow probably didn't either), Sonic made a little of everything. There was bound to be something in there that Shades would like. His own tastes seemed limited, but Sonic knew how to serve others when he had to.

Shadow got up and absentmindedly began tidying up Sonic’s house. He’d gotten as far as last week’s clothes, when his head began to hurt again, He slumped to his knees, clutching it... "Punch somebody, it'll make you feel so much better," said his shadow.

"Oh, not you again..." Shadow groaned, "No, no-"

"Yes, it will make you feel better, I promise."

"No, you're the direct result of withdrawal from sedatives, I'm not listening I'm not listening!" Shadow started to shout.

Sonic stopped what he was doing to check up on Shadow, hearing his senseless shouts. "Uh, is there something wrong?" he asked, staring as the dark hedgehog clutched at his head.

"Shut up!" Shadow clutched at his quills, "Faker, is there any room in your house with a lock?"

"Uh, sure, my bedroom. It’s that way,” Sonic spoke dumbly, pointed in the direction of the stairs. It was that voice again, it had to be. That... thing inside Shadow's head that kept tormenting him.

Shadow didn't say anything but staggered towards the stairs, then charged up them and into Sonic's room. The door slammed, and locked, and then a scream erupted, horrible and painful. Inside the bedroom, Shadow grabbed the first thing he saw - Sonic's digital clock - and threw it against the wall as hard as he could.

Sonic was soon outside the door, listening in, hoping that Shadow wasn't trying to hurt himself or something like that, and he heard the clock smash, "Shadow? Are you alright, man?" he asked hesitantly.

Shadow ignored Sonic, and continued to break everything in sight, until Sonic's room was even more of a mess than it had been before. He wasn't even looking at what he was breaking, or thinking; all he knew was that he needed to break something, everything in sight. Throwing things around that wouldn't shatter, like the bedsheets, he started to tear them up, screaming out loud in bursts.

Sonic didn't know whether to bust the door down or just wait for the temper tantrum to pass. There were very, very few things that scared Sonic, and Shadow flipping out like that was one of them.

Finally Shadow's rage was spent, and it was replaced by a kind of childish hopelessness. He slumped to his knees and began to sob uncontrollably, his face covered by his hands.

Finally, Sonic spoke softly, "Shadow, please open the door."

"NO!" Shadow shouted, feeling tears pour down his cheeks, "Not until you promise to take me back to that place! I'm too fucking dangerous!"

Sighing, Sonic drew back and kicked the door open, breaking the lock. Walking into the room, he began to speak calmly, "You're not going back to that place, you hear me?" He crouched down to look into the other hedgehog's eyes at his level.

Shadow turned away from him, trying to hide the tears rolling down his face, "Keep away from me… I don't want to hurt you... not right now..." he whispered.

Defying Shadow's request, Sonic crawled forward and hesitantly but warmly wrapped his arms around him. "You're not going to hurt me,” he whispered back, as always sounding so confident, "You're not going to hurt anyone."

Shadow flinched in his arms, "No, no, that's just what you want to believe," he managed, "I'm not safe, I'm not..." his voice strengthened, "Look at what I've just done! And I wanted to do that to you!"

"But you didn't, and you won't,” Sonic spoke again, holding the embrace. It was a sign of trust that he could even get that close to Shadow.

"No... no..." Shadow mumbled. Sonic could feel a whole load of scar tissue under his fur; scars from burning, from being stabbed, and from being shot. Shadow had been through a lot lately, and though he liked to insist otherwise, he couldn't make it on his own right now, “I can’t take that risk… you have to take me back…”

"No,” Sonic said firmly, loosening his hold on the other hedgehog so he could look into his eyes, "You're free, and you're going to stay that way."

"But..." Shadow hung his head, "I don't feel free... not just your stupid house... the voice... still there... feel trapped..."

Sonic shook Shadow hard suddenly, telling him, "And you're letting it win! You've got to get back on your feet, Shades!"

Shadow looked at Sonic, then turned away, "I feel so fucking weak..." he shuddered, and tried to pull away from Sonic.

"Then stop being weak,” Sonic sighed, rocking Shadow back and forth like a baby, wiping away his tears, trying to talk some sense into his head, "All you have to do is tell it that you're not taking it anymore."

"I... can't take it any more..." Shadow mumbled as tears trickled down his face and he tried to wipe them away and hide them.

Sonic shook his head, "No, Shadow, you have to say that you will not take it anymore, and you've got to mean it."

"What do you know about it..." Shadow asked Sonic, "What do you care?" he rubbed his face, and looked up at the door, "And you're going to regret breaking that lock."

Sonic simple reply was, "I don't regret." The blue hedgehog shrugged. "Come on, Shadow. You're stronger than this. You're the only one who has ever matched me. Fight this thing!"

"You have to take me back... I can't fight myself... not forever," Shadow went limp in Sonic's arms, "I'm broken..." he whispered.

Sonic didn't reply with words, rather standing up and dragging the broken hedgehog with him, forcing him to stand on his feet. "You can do this,” he whispered.

Following the blue hedgehog's lead, Shadow put first one foot, and then the other on the floor, standing up with him, hanging on tightly.

"See? It's not that hard. You just have to take the first step,” Sonic said positively, firmly believing that Shadow wasn't truly lost.

"You have to promise... never to tell anybody about this, faker," Shadow told Sonic as he leaned on the blue hedgehog, "Ever, ever, ever."

The blue hedgehog chuckled, "Don't worry; my lips are sealed,” he assured Shadow, understanding what a blow to his pride and sanity it would be if this ever got out.

Shadow turned away from him, "Then it's a deal," he said, "You never tell anybody how weak I've become, and I'll get better."

"It's a deal!" Sonic agreed excitedly, stepping back to give Shadow some room, and held out his hand, "Here, eat your hamburger."
