Chapter 06

Kingdom Hearts Key of Darkness Sequel to "Conceived In Darkness" by Vash/RikuDawntreader/PrettySephy Disclaimer: I own no one from the Kingdom Hearts series. Riku's son, Yamiki, however is mine. But I give permission for other authors to use him in their fics as long as they send me a link so I can read them, too. --------------------------------------------------------- -Chapter 6- Sephiroth watched the great dragon as it came toward them, sending most of the townsfolk into a state of panic. He watched it with the calmness of one who has battled many monsters in his time. It wasn't anything he couldn't handle. It landed before him and let out a great roar, causing those who lingered to flee into their homes. A moment later, Maleficent stood before Sephiroth. "Why do you attract me?" she asked. "Have you placed some kind of spell on me?" "It's probably my hair," Sephiroth replied. "I've always understood that dragons like shiny things." "In that case, perhaps I should carry you off and store you in my keep?" Kadaj scampered out of the nearby house and tugged on Sephiroth's pant leg. "Daddy!" he whined. "You promised me a story!" He looked up at Maleficent. "Who's the pretty green lady?" Maleficent threw her head back and laughed heartily. "You, little man, have made my day." She told him. ***** "Those aren't just random heartless attacking," Aerith told the Radiant Garden Restoration Committee. "Many of the creatures I've seen around look a lot like the ones from the world I came from." "You think something from your world got here and his been turned into a heartless?" "That or someone has cross-bred heartless with creatures from my world." Aerith told them. "If that's the case, we may be facing a generation of heartless that are unaffected by a keyblade." Leon pointed out. "We'll have to come up with some alternate way of destroying them. I'll have Laguna look into it. Perhaps there's a record of such a weapon in the database? Aerith, see if you can contact the King. He must be made aware of the situation as soon as possible." "Right," Aerith said, closing her eyes. ***** Queen Minnie looked up from the flowerbed she had been admiring as her mind sensed Aerith's call. "Your majesty," Aerith's astral form bowed, respectfully. "We need to see the King here at Radiant Garden as soon as possible. There is a new danger. We need him to help figure out a way to fight it." "I'll tell him right away," Queen Minnie promised. "Thank you," Aerith smiled. "I'll tell the others to expect the King's arrival." As soon as Aerith's astral form faded, Queen Minnie hurried into the throne room. "Trouble is brewing," she told the King. "Leon's group needs to see you right away." "Well, then, I guess I'd better be off," he gave the Queen a quick eskimo kiss, then turned and gave a startled cry. "Master Yen Sid!" "There is a matter which I must discuss with you before you depart," the great magician told his former pupil. "It concerns the keyblade masters: Sora and Riku." "I'm listening," King Mickey looked up into his former teacher's eyes and saw that they were troubled. "An attempt was made upon young Riku's life not long ago," Yen Sid explained. "An attempt that would've been successful, if Riku hadn't once taken on another form, that of Xehanort's heartless. His young body was destroyed forever, consumed by fire. But he has taken a new shape, that of the body inhabited by Xehanort in life. When that happened, Sora cast aside his old body. He has taken the form of your good friend, Ansem the Wise. Both he and Riku are still capable of wielding keyblades as is Riku's son, Yamiki. But against the new foes that are yet to come, the power of the keyblades may have no affect."
