Chapter 5
“Cerberus!” Someone yells out, causing a few junior doctors and interns to scatter in panic. Gunshots ring out in the halls, and through her tranquilliser-induced daze, Shepard hears the familiar canned voice of Cerberus over the loudspeakers.
“This is Cerberus. If everybody will stay calm, then you will not be harmed. We have come for Commander Shepard. Surrender her now, and we can avoid unnecessary bloodshed.”
“Go to Hell, Cerberus!” A turian voice cries out – Jane tries (and fails) to crane her neck to find out who. She's pretty sure it isn't Arterius.
The sound of gunfire rings out loud in the hospital corridors, and there's the sound of bodies hitting the floor. All Hell breaks loose – the last thing Shepard is aware of before unwillingly surrendering to the tranquillisers is a pair of unfamiliar arms latching around her waist and dragging her away.

As soon as the shaking starts, Neghan Arterius runs to his CO's hospital room. He's worked with biotics before, and he's worked with explosives. This is definitely the latter. Assuming the hospital doesn't routinely bomb its own wards, they're under attack. And it's his job to get Garrus out of here.
Running into the hospital room, Neghan is momentarily stunned to see Garrus awake and struggling to sit up, but doesn't let it phase him. He rushes to his CO's side, and helps him out of the bed.
“Where is everyone?” Garrus croaks.
“They'll be here.” Arterius replies. As if on cue, one of the other two turians arrives at Garrus's doorway, clutching several guns which she hands out to Garrus and Neghan. Garrus accepts the gun, despite raising a brow-plate.
“Quick recap,” Neghan says, passing Garrus's struggling body to the other turian whilst fine-tuning his gun. “We got you to the nearest hospital, after the Maw landed on you. You've been out for a while, and Cerberus is attacking the hospital.”
“Were my injuries bad?” Garrus inquired.
“A Thresher Maw landed on you. What do you think?” Arterius replied with no small amount of sarcasm. He turns to the other turian. “Nyxa, where's Sahgrun? And is someone taking care of Shepard?”
Garrus starts at Shepard's name, and turns to Arterius for answers.
“Shepard's here? We have to get to her! Is she awake?” The female turian, Nyxa, answers his questions.
“She's fine Sir, up and about. Last I saw, Sahgrun was trying to carry her to the shuttle, as the nurses tranq-ed her. We need to go as soon as possible, hopefully Cerberus weren't expecting four turians to be here, so we might get the jump on them.”
“We might if we get a move on.” Arterius agrees. At those words, Nyxa peers partway round the door, and signals to Arterius that it's all clear. The three turians start off down the hallway, and Garrus's heart beats treacherously fast. If anyone askds him he'll explain his exhaustion remaining from the coma. Which is true, but it's not the main reason – that reason is currently heading towards the turians' shuttle in the arms of Saghrun, the junior turian in the group. And things aren't looking good...

Jane shakes around in Saghrun's arms as he tries to keep her unconscious frame from the grasp of Cerberus whilst shooting with his spare hand. It wasn't going well to begin with, but more and more of those Cerberus scum keep pouring through the holes they blasted in the walls, like ants or some other such nasty infestation. A soldier gets too close for his liking, and he sends a shotgun blast through the man's chest, leaving him twitching on the floor. There are so many of them...
Saghrun is so overwhelmed by the waves upon waves of Cerberus soldiers that he almost fails to notice the banging on the walls above him. And by the time he does, the Atlas has already broken through the ceiling, put a rocket through his side, and Cerberus have Shepard.
His last thought before passing out from blood loss is “Garrus isn't going to be pleased.”
