chapter 5
*Thank you Thank you Thank you for reading and reviewing!!!! I always love reviews!!! Hope you enjoy this chapter!*
“Oh, Mr. Kullhem…,” Axel’s speaker crackled.
Axel slowly lifted his head from his hand that was resting on the railing on his balcony outside his office. The sun was just beginning to set and Axel was reflecting on the day. He couldn’t understand how someone could stand him up; he was rich, interesting and not to mention, handsome as ever.
“Mr. Kullhem…,” the speaker cracked again.
Axel gradually moved to the French double doors separating him from his office. He stepped into his office and closed the doors. He removed his brown leather gloves and designer scarf and gently set them on the back of his plush chair.
Axel pushed the little red button on his speaker, “Yeah…”
“Sir,” Namine began, “there’s a Mr. McCoy here to see you.”
Axel’s heart dropped into his stomach, “Send him up here in 30 seconds.”
“Will do, sir,” Namine responded and you could hear the snickering smile in her voice.
Axel ran over to the mirror and checked his reflection. His flaming hair was on end and he tried to flatten it out when the bell from the elevator dinged signaling the arrival of his long awaited guest. Finally, the doors opened into his majestic office but, instead of seeing a person there was a bellman’s cart packed full of different sized paintings.
“Um…Mr. Kullhem,” Roxas began while pushing the cart into the bureau, “I’m sorry that I’m late. You see…”
“Please, call me Axel,” Axel replied as he help pulled the cart into his office. Axel stood back to survey Roxas. He looked exhausted, there were bags under his eyes and he was panting while leaning against the cart. Axel began to be worried at the sight of him.
“Are you alright?” He asked Roxas moving towards him.
“Yeah, I’ll be fine,” Roxas began, looking around his office. He finally eyed a chair and stumbled towards it, “do you mind?”
“Yes, yes of course!” Axel rushed towards him, “Take as much time as you need. Can I get you anything else?”
“No, no, I’ll be fine in a minute,” Roxas replied.
“I know,” Axel looked down at him, “when was the last time you had a quality meal?”
Roxas looked up at him, “Um…I don’t remember.”
“Well, we’re going to get some food in your stomach,” Axel said as he moved to behind his desk and pick up his phone, “Namine, would you bring up my car?”
Axel put the phone back down and crossed the room to a miniature fridge and pulled out two clinking glass bottles. He set both of them in front of Roxas, “Sparkling or regular?”
Roxas looked up confused and saw Axel pointing to the two bottles sitting on the table. Both bottles contained a clear liquid and a label written in French. Roxas chuckled to himself, “Even your goddamn water is rich and fancy.”
Axel studied the worn out other as Roxas grabbed the non-sparkling bottle towards him. His hand slipped a bit as the condensation on the bottle began to drip down the side. Roxas’ right hand reached the screw top and he tried to twist and pry it off. Finally, after a couple of minutes watching the poor man try and open the bottle, Axel took the drink from him and easily opened it. Slowly, he began to give the water back when Roxas forcefully took the bottle from Axel’s hand, “I didn’t need your help.”
Axel stood back appalled at the blonde’s strong personality. Roxas glared into Axel’s eyes before pressing the glass bottle to his lips and gulping down the ice cold liquid. The water felt like daggers in Roxas’ system, but the feeling was addictive and Roxas continued to drink until the bottle held no more. Roxas set the bottle down and let out a sigh feeling his body begin to rehydrate.
“Mr. Kullhem,” the speaker on Axel’s desk croaked, “your car is here.”
“Excellent,” Axel spoke and looked down at the sitting Roxas, “come on.”
Axel began to move towards the elevator. Roxas summoned his strength to push himself out of the chair and trudge towards Axel who, by now, had the door of the elevator held open with his arm.
Roxas stumbled into the elevator and looked at Axel who pushed the bottom of the three buttons on the keypad.
“This is my special elevator,” Axel began to explain, noticing the bewildered look on Roxas’ face, “I use this to get to my office, the main corporate office and to the ground floor for my car to pick me up.”
“Ah…” Roxas replied as the elevator made a usual dinging noise signaling that it had reached its destination. The doors slid open and sitting in front of them waiting was a jet black with chrome trimmed 1954 Rolls-Royce.
*I would really suggest looking up the car...It's really beautiful...sigh*
