“Duel at Dawn”
Scene: Greil Mercenaries Base, Hallway to Ike’s Room, Minutes before sunrise
“I challenge you to a duel, monster!”
The voice echoed throughout the retreat but especially through a certain wooden door plastered with small paper notes and child’s carvings.
Rustle rustle, creek, pound-pound-pound…
Creeeeeeek.
The door opened slowly with the dim light and pure darkness contrasting at the doorway.
The dimly lit wall torches slightly shone the violet haired maiden’s back with faint reflections proving the sword’s shape. She stood defiantly towards her still yet invisible foe but quickly stepped back in stance as her muscled rival slowly appeared from the depths.
“…And who are you calling…monster? Yaaawwwwn…”
The beast stretched out his arms, assaulting the maiden with his overly large physique and morning breath. It stood half dressed, lower half dressed fortunately?, unfazed by the sword and the maiden alike as if she were nothing. Nothing!
“Boss, come on, fight me!”
Her sword held still vertically, her body eagerly awaiting his response.
“Is it…even morning yet?”
“Oh, by the time you get ready and come outside it will be!”
“You really took my words literally… Well, give me a moment…”
Ike retreated back inside to quickly clothe and arm himself, questioning Mia as he did.
“You didn’t sleep last night, did you?”
“Nope!”
“Trained all night?”
“Yup!”
“You’re hopeless, you know that?”
“Oh, come on Boss. I almost won that…other time!”
“I wasn’t talking…”
The voice died off slowly as he realized where this conversation was going. Might as well just hurry up and get on with the fighting, no sense in talking until after that. It’s how Mia was anyways.
“All right, I’m ready. You better keep up!”
“Of course, Boss!”
And to Ike’s surprise; the sun actually did greet them outside just as they made their way to the snowy front garden. The sun shone brightly through the foliage and the slightly run down sections of the abode. It’s been quite a while since they’ve been here, after all.
“I’ve calculated this all. I love dueling at dawn. It’s the perfect setting for a duel isn’t it?”
“Sure enough. Just doesn’t disappoint me with your fighting.”
“A-ha. I’ll show you something to remember. On guard, Boss?”
“Hah. On guard.”
"We're still up for tonight, right Boss?"
"Sure, if you want. Stop by anytime."
