Chapter five
Eternal peace

He knew where he had to go. He had to go back... back to Ostrheinsburg Castle.
Peyton thought that after he rid himself of the cursed sword that he would also be able to rid himself of
his darkness.. he couldn't believe he had to travel back to that damned place to retrieve the darkness
he had just recently rid hismelf of. Ostrheinsburg Castle, however, was about a three day
trek away.He eventually had to slow from a run to a walk because, wether he liked it or not, he had left
a great deal of his own strength with the darkness.

He could see something in the distance that looked like a blurred box, as he got closer however
he saw it was an overturned wagon, one of the ones from the caravan he had been with.
As he drew even closer he herd muffled grunts and howls that sounded as if they belonged to a small animal.
When he rounded the corner of the wagon he saw something he was not prepared for..
It was the young girl lilly and her mother... being fucked by lizardmen..

the lizardman was much too big for the young girl and had ripped her vagina rather badly, blood poured out
from the young girls pussy and pooled on the ground. "M-M-Mommy i'm scared.." the girl sobbed.
Her mother tried to reassure her, by saying in between gasps "I-I-It'll be o-o-okay baby".
Peyton could take no more and strode forward, grabbing the lizardman by the back of the kneck and twisted violently,
nearly turning it's head all the way around. He pushed it away from the girl and pulled the paddle from his back.
The other lizardman stopped fucking lilly's mother and looked up to see the mans boot smash into its face.
He stood above the lizardman and brought the paddle up above the filthy beasts head and brought it down, crushing it's skull and sending
lizardman brains flying about.

A third lizardman had been looting in the debris and poked it's head out.
"Shit, missed one..", he rose his "blade" up toward the beast, ready to crush it into nothing.
Before he could strike the beast let out a loud screech, deafening the man.
he winched and brought his hand up to his head, the sound was giving him a headache (and pissing him off further).
The trees rustled as four other lizardmen jumped out and lined up in a V formation behind the lizardman lookout.

Peyton gritted his teeth and stepped in front of Lilly and her mother, blocking them from the beasts.
He steeled himself for another fight as the lizardmen got ready to attack.
Suddenly, the four lizardmen who had just appeared fell to the ground, dead.
Both the man and the beast were suprised and puzzled at what had just happened and look down at
the fallen monsters to find a shuriken lodged in the back of each of their skulls.

The foolish beast actually turned around, totally leaving itself open as Peyton strode forward and brought
his arm back. The beast turned back just in time to be punched right in the middle of the face.
The beast landed on its back, dazed. The man placed his boot on its head and began to stomp on
it's head, over and over again, until the beast stopped breathing.

A womans voice interrupted him, "You don't hold any love for these beasts either i take it."
He looked up and almost lost his balance, there before him stood a woman clad in a blue skin-tight
raiment. It was not the tightness of her clothes that had taken him aback but the suddeness at which
she had appeared, she was like a... "ninja" she said, motioning a thumb towards herself.
~damn.. can she read minds?~

He watched the woman wearily before remembering Lilly and her mother.
he ran over to check on them to find the girl's mother holding lilly in her arms sobbing,
the girl was pale and still bleeding profusely... she was in terrible danger of dieing.
Lilly looked up at him and smiled the best she could. The girl's voice was barely above a whisper,
"Mr. Peyton... it's you..". He put a finger to her lips to silence her, "hush little one... you need
to save your strength".
The female ninja watched for more lizardmen as Peyton tried to patch the girl up.
He did the best he could but he was no doctor..
The girl passed from the mortal world as the last bits of light faded from the sky.

They gave her a proper burial in a nearby town, in the graveyard behind the local church..
they would have to call the priest in the morning to read the last rights for her.
He gave the last bits of gold he had to the woman to buy her passage away from the town,
while the ninja procured a room at the inn.

They were sitting in the room that the woman had bought for the night
(the innkeeper had "misinformed" them about the room, as they purchased a double but could
only find one bed), Peyton strode forward, grabbed a mug off the small nigthstand and flung it
at the wall causing it to shatter into a hundred peices, exclaiming "FUCK!" before he sat down on the bed.

"hey! I have to pay for that!" she said, "If you're going to be crazy could you at least do it a little
quieter?". "Fine, then i'll go" , he made for the door but the woman stepped in front of him.
"look, i'm sorry if i sound insensitive but you have to calm down, you cannot hold
her death to any fault in you, you did all that you could!".
Peyton sighed wearily and sat back down on the bed.
"The girl called you Peyton before.. am I to assume that is your name?"
"yeah" he said.
The woman removed her faceguard and smiled, "I am taki, good to meet you".

"Look it's late, we better get some rest.. you paid for the room so you get the bed"
he took his wepaon off his back and laid it against the wall, before trying to scoot down to the floor.
"oh hush, just scoot over and don't try any funny business.."
before he could protest she had pushed him to the other side of the bed and slid in.
"Good night" he said, Taki responded "good night..".

Peyton laid his weary body down on the bed and closed his eyes, and for the first time in
a long time his dreams were not filled with death and war..


~*~ A young girl was running through a vast sea of blowing green grass, the kind of grass that came up to your kneecaps
and was as soft as a down feather. She ran with her arms out wide at her sides, as if she were flying. she ran on and on..
never tireing or falling. She ran up past an ancient oak tree on a hill amidst the green sea
and gasped in wonderment at the sight beyond. The sight that greeted her was a beautiful Valley
filled with fresh flowing water and flowers. There were other children there as well,
though he did not concern himself with them. she waved at the children and they waved back.
She suddenly spun around to greet him. "Mr. Peyton... thank you for saving me, tell mommy not to worry.."
she rushed forward and hugged him around the waist, quickly slipping her hand into, then out of his pocket.
she ran to the edge of the hill and it seemed to split, as if reality itself had been torn asunder.
she drifted away from him under the ancient oak, her voice getting more and more distant.
"Bye mr. Peyton, and thank you!". he watched as she drifted out of sight, and the tears he had been holding back flowed freely now..
"goodbye little one, i'm glad you found eternal peace..." ~*~
