_*CHAPTER FIVE*_

*
Leon looked at Seth as they moved along, trying to find some form of transportation. Seth was looking about and then looked at Leon as he spotted a car by the side of the road. Leon shook his head; he didn't trust it at all. It didn't seem right that the car would just be there. Seth nodded his head at Leon's decision. He knew Leon didn't trust how convenient it was.

Seth looked at Ashley, who moved silently alongside them, and sighed. He knew that she must like Leon from the way she kept looking at him.

He now watched Leon veer away from the road. Seth and Ashley followed him as they headed deeper into the woods.

Seth walked with Ashley and smiled at her. "He's handsome and kind-hearted, isn't he?" He watched as she nodded. "Don't worry. I know you like him," he said with a smile.

Ashley looked at him and smiled. "I guess you don't have to worry about losing him to me, since I'm a girl and all.

"So, how did you two meet?" she asked curiously. Seth blushed at the question and looked away.

"It couldn't have been that bad, could it?" she asked. Seth nodded his head.

"Oh. What did you do?" she asked. She saw Leon look back with a smile on his face.

Leon stopped and went to Seth, giving him a hug. "It's nothing too bad," he said. "Let's not go into it."

He then motioned that they had to continue. "If I remember right we should come out into a parking lot."

He now looked around at everyone. "My plan is to head for my friend's house and get some help," Leon told them. Seth nodded head, knowing who he was talking about. Ashley only looked confused.

Leon let Seth go and then started to lead the way again. He suddenly heard "it" and his eyes widened. "Shit," he said and looked at Seth, who looked around for the dogs he heard.

"Seth, shoot to kill. They're infected. They'll attack without warning," Leon told him and looked at Ashley. "Ashley, get into that tree," he said while he pointed to the tree.

She nodded her head and climbed as high as she could. She wasn't aware that Leon was looking upwards. Leon smiled as he got a free show and looked at Seth with a shrug. "Hey, I'm bi. It's legal," he said.

Leon then saw Seth take aim and fire. He spun to look and saw a dog go down, but a Las Plagas burst from its back, its blade-like appendages waving madly. He fired as well. Seth was already moving onto another target and firing. Leon kept pace with him as they seemed to come at them by the dozen.

Leon didn't know what to do as more came. Seth was reloading as quickly as possible, leaving Leon to defend him the best he could. Seth began to fire again and nodded to Leon to reload. He kept shooting the dogs as they came. He had to shoot several of them two times to bring them down. One of the dogs leapt at Seth and he ducked, bringing his shotgun around and opening fire. It caught a bullet in the side.

Leon watched the Las Plagas burst out and watched Seth duck and fire. He was relieved to see that Seth was still standing and managing to keep the other dogs at bay. He heard Seth's gun fire over and over again.

Soon, the dogs didn't come anymore. Leon turned to Seth and smiled. "We did--Seth?" he asked, rushing towards the falling man. He caught him and he saw it.

The Las Plagas didn't miss Seth after all.

Leon knelt there and began to work, calling Ashley from the tree so she could help. Leon saw Seth look at him with a smile. "Hey babe. You did great," Leon said as he worked on closing the wound after disinfecting it the best he could. Ashley helped him with the patching and Leon saw she was worried about the other man as well.

"Hey, we kicked ass that time," Seth said.

"Dogs are harder to predict, though," Leon said.

Seth sat up gingerly, his wounds treated. "We should get going just in case more come," he said and watched Leon nod his head. He got up with a little help and they headed off again towards the parking lot.

Seth was moving slower than before and Leon slowed his pace to match his. Seth looked at him and smiled to show that he was fine. "So what do we do once we get to your friend's? Are you sure they're going to believe us if it hasn't reached there?" he asked. Ashley, overhearing the question, turned to Leon to see what his answer was.

Leon smiled at them. "Oh please. They know me and I think it won't take too much work to convince them," he said.

He looked at Seth for a bit and then at Ashley. "Hey now, what's with the looks of disbelief?" he asked. They just shook their heads and Leon shrugged. "Okay. Whatever," he said.

He smiled as they came to the lot. "Seth, this is your specialty, so pick a car and let's get the hell out of dodge." Seth nodded his head in agreement. He went over to one of the cars and looked it over. He began to work the lock and smiled

Leon smiled and watched him hotwire the car. "Okay. We're out of here," he said. He could see why Seth picked this one. The motor had been upgraded a bit, allowing for faster speeds. "Great choice."

Seth nodded as he and Ashley got in. Leon slammed on the gas and the car took off. Seth leaned forward and looked at Leon in the rear-view mirror for a bit before drifting off to sleep.
