Squaresoft and Disney own Kingdom Hearts, and I am making no money from this.
// “ Riku… “
“ Yeah, Sora? “
“ We’re friends, right? “
“ Of coarse. Why d’you ask? “
“ Because, I had this dream last night… You… you weren’t very nice… “
“ What are you talking about? “
“ You were… trying to steal my heart. “
“ Sora, I wouldn’t do that. Not unless you gave it to me. “
“ Gave it to you? “
“ You know… more than friends. “
“ Oh… I thought you liked Kairi. “
“ She’s fun to hang around, sometimes. “
“ So you don’t like her? “
“ No, Sora. I like you.” //
Sora was floating. His ears were popping, and he was slanting forwards a little bit. The sound of a distant hum was soothing somehow, but it had woken him up. He tried to move, but he felt himself blanketed in something heavy, breathing, and slobbering all over his face.
“ Mmph, Pluto, get off. “ Sora groaned, trying to move his leg. Pluto whined a little, and gave Sora’s cheek one very long sweep of his tongue, before climbing off, and instead laying with his head on his paws beside him. Sora turned to look at him, making a face, “ Thanks a lot. “
Sora stretched his arms out from underneath the thick blanket he had been covered in, and staring up to the ceiling of the ship. They were landing now, he could tell by the wal he was slipping towards the front of the ship, his shirt working up in the back, over his red bodysuit. It was uncomfortable, so he sat up.
“ Your awake!” Donald peeked over the top of his chair, looking relieved, “ You didn’t look so well when we found that creep standing over you.”
“ Creep?” Sora repeated, scratching a raw spot on the back of his head, “ Oh… you mean Riku?”
“ That guy looked like he was going to break you in two, “ Donald continued, making a rather violent gesture with his feathered hands, “ I stopped him, naturally, with my extreme magical abilities. He was begging to be let up, but I…”
“ Err… actually, Sora, Pluto came to your rescue. Got punched in the side for it, he did.” Goofy looked back at him, from where he sat at the command consol, and gave a little wave.
“ Pluto?” Sora repeated, looking down at the dog in question. His large dark eyes looked back up at him, and he almost looked to be smiling, the way that his doggish lips were pulling back, tail slapping the ground with every pass.
“ Hmph, let the dog get all the credit.” Donald said angrily. Goofy laughed that goofy laugh of his.
“ What happened to Riku?” Sora asked, placing a hand on Pluto’s head and patting there gently.
“ He disappeared. He had this strange look on his face though, as though he had been, “ Sora cut Donald off.
“ Hurt?” fin finished, a sad smile gracing his lips. The angered look still haunting Donald’s face disappeared, and he looked less stern; almost cute, like a little toy duck.
“ Sorry, Sora, that he fell into darkness like that. We know that you care for him so much…” Donald consoled, drumming his feathery fingers on the headrest of the seat. Sora wrapped his arms around his legs and drew them close.
“ Its a lot more than that… “ Sora began, resting his chin ontop his knee’s, and feeling more childish than ever, “ I… I think it is, anyway.”
“ Like love?” Goofy offered, turning to look at Sora.
“ Keep your eyes on the road!” Donald scolded, but then took heed to the words Goofy had said, “ What would you know about love, anyway.?”
“ I know that it can keep ya goin’, even if the goal has changed. Even if they had changed, it aint gonna make your feelin’s change anyway. They stay the same, because you can see their soul. Right, Sora?”
“ Since when did you become a scholar.” Donald snorted and plopped back down in his seat, arms crossed, much as they did when he was beaten by someone he thought lesser of.
“ I do feel that way. I… still care a lot for him. All I want is to be back at Destiny Islands, the way things used to be.” Sora cried, burying his head in his arms and slowly letting his tears fall, as silently as he could.
“ Aww… don’t cry, Sora. If we cant get Riku’s heart back, then King Mickey will! You know he’d help ya… “ Goofy said. Somehow that silly voice of his could be oddly soothing. It relaxed some of Sora’s tension, but it didn’t sate him completely.
“ I wish I could talk to him, the way he used to be. Even once last time. The Riku that… that I want to be with. Not that monster.” Sora sighed out, looking across the ship to one of the many round windows. Donald peered at Goofy for a moment, then looked back at Sora under the armrest.
“ You know Sora, there’s something the King used to say…” Donald begun.
“ Oh yeah! He used to say that if you wished upon a star, you dreams will come true!” Goofy said, with the slight hum of the old tune in his voice, of ‘ when you wish upon a star…’
“ Not just any star though! The wishing star. The brightest one in the night sky.” Donald nodded to himself, and looked out the window that was beside him. Sora made a sound of acknowledgement, and scooted closer to the window nearest to him.
He looked out upon the sea of stars, and the distant world they were getting closer too. All the stars looked the same; same size, same range of light… nothing special about any of them. Sora closed his eyes and pressed his head to the wall, and kept looking out, hopeful, at the vast night.
// Plans of the raft were underway.
Nothing had been built yet, but there were most definitely plans in progress.
Him and Riku were currently sitting on Paopu Island, where they would least likely to be bothered by the rest of the islanders. Sora was using an old piece of crayon to draw out the shape of the raft, and what they may need to build it, while Riku was perched in the tree above him.
“ … And… we’ll need lots of fresh water. The salt water can make you sick, you know… “
“ And the last thing I’ll need is you keeled over the edge the entire time. “ Riku teased, placing his hands behind his head. Sora snorted a laugh, and threw a piece of branch at him. It only fluttered a few feet before loosing its volicity and tumbling down to the ground.
Riku looked at him, and purred that sweet smile of his, curling the corners of his lips like a Cheshire cat. Sora’s heart beat faster upon looking at him; there was something sultry about Riku, at that moment. Perhaps the way that his shirt had casually ridden upon, and exposed the flat and muscled plane of his stomach.
Or maybe the way that the branch he was laid upon curved in such a way that his hips were pushed up, only a few inches above his head, but that’s all it took to exploit the slight indication there.
Sora didn’t notice that he was staring, admiring, even, until Riku moved a little, and addressed him clearly.
“ Is there something on my face, Sora? Because, my face isn’t down there.” A smirk. Sora blushed brightly and ducked his head, scribbling frantically on the browned paper again.
“ … A-and food. Maybe some fruit, and vegetables from the garden next to our island. Their ripe now… “ Sora looked up from underneath the spikes of his hair. Riku had turned his attention to a unripe Paopu fruit, which he had plucked from its suckle and was casually tearing one of the five spikes off.
“ You know, the juice is the sweetest when their like this.” Riku was licking his fingers, “ We use them in most things here, like candy, lemonade, cakes, pies… even some stews. But their not magical like they are when their ripe. You know that?”
Sora, with a burning blush, shook his head. Riku grinned lazily, and with a bend of his finger, summoned Sora towards him. He gulped, and pushed himself up. His head came up to the bottom of the branch. Riku lowered his arm, like some kind of an ancient god offering to nothing more than man man peasant, the juice from the fruit dripping down his longer, soft fingers, uncallosed, since they were constantly conditioned by the leather gloves he typically wore.
“ Try it.” Riku’s hand moved closer, and spread the juice between Sora’s parted lips with his index. Sora felt his eyes idle shut, and he took grasp of his friends wrist, taking the two offered fingers into his mouth, and cleaning the juice off from –every- inch imaginable. And he must have done a good job, by the way that Riku’s breathe had taken a heaving increase.
“ Mm… it is good.” Sora smiled up to his friend, having pulling his head back to release those tender fingers, but still held fast to his narrow wrist. Riku placed his fingers alongside Sora’s round cheek, framing its form.
“ You should have more, then.” Riku suggested, but he didn’t make a move for the pieces of fruit laying on his stomach, seeping through his shirt and damping it against his skin.
“ I want to, but now I wonder… does a ripe one taste just as sweet?” Sora asked, unknowingly tilting and sliding his cheek against that hand. He was far to interested in the way the setting sun made Riku’s pale skin shine golden.
“ They say it does. And that nothing could compare to the taste of two souls twined together for eternity.” Riku whisper, his voice husky. He withdrew his hand from Sora’s grasp, “ Come up here, Sora.”
There was something in Riku’s voice that always made Sora comply, without a second thought to his friends words. Whenever. Riku could easily take advantage of him in that way, but he never did. He was odd in that fashion, he surmised. So Sora, with help from Riku, was pulled up onto the branch with him.
And Riku kept pulling, until Sora was spread out on top of him. And feeling that larger, hard and powerful body beneath him made Sora feel even smaller than he knew he was. But that didn’t matter; he felt protected, and utterly warm. As though the rays of the sun could not compare to this.
Riku’s strong arms had laced around him then, holding him in such a way that Sora had seen before. When Riku went with a girl from the other side of the island for about four months. He used to see them out on the dock, Riku embracing her with such tenderness, that it made a wave of envy dye his heart green. And now he was graced with this touch.
And the only slight discomfort was the pieces of fruit trapped between them, now crushed to a pulp, and lumpy and wet. But Sora could not move to brush it away. Mostly because of Riku’s strong hug.
“ Riku… “ Sora gasped out, his heart hammering so hard, he was sure that his best friend could feel it.
“ Mm?” Riku’s hand traveled up, and was lost in Sora’s thick hair. It felt good, to have those trained fingers rubbing at his scalp.
“ I… I want to ask you something. “ Sora said slowly, tilting his head further so, so that he found where the tank ended, and pressed his cheek to Riku’s warm shoulder.
“Shoot.” Riku said, not missing a beat. As usual. And that arm that was snaked around his waist tightened a little bit more, somehow, his finger finding a bare piece of skin, a tear of his bodysuit, he guessed, and was taking full advantage of it.
“ I… I want you to kiss me, Riku.” Sora barely got it all out in an even voice. His face was burning, and he clamped his eyes shut tightly, mostly in hopes of disappearing. Though to disappear would mean leaving these warm arms. Riku was quiet, and Sora was sure it was a cold letdown.
But then, with that hand barely moving from its spot, he curved his fingers along Sora’s jaw, and tilted upwards, while bending his own head down in the meanwhile. And they met in the middle.
Riku kissed him long and deep. And for a long time, it was comprised of only lips. His friends tongue slithered across his lips slowly, in the same teasing manner Riku used most of timetime, and then ducked inside. It surprised Sora, but he had no idea that having another long, sleek muscle running along those sensitive nerves under his own could feel so damn good.
It continued longer than Sora had thought. Breaking only for seconds when the need for air grew great. It ended with a bit to his louder lip that left Sora completely breathless, with his head pressed under Riku’s chin. It was a while before either of them spoke.
“ Amazing, Riku…” Sora breathed. Beneath him, Riku shifted, and something hard made itself known to Sora.
“ Mm… it was. “
“ We should…head home, before it gets too dark..” Sora whispered.
“ Na… I wanna lay here for a while.”
And so they did, until the last person leaving called to them. As normal as anything, he and Riku headed to their own corresponding boats. But upon the last moment, decided to leave in one, together. //
Sora opened his eyes, and was shocked to find that they had already landed.
There was a forest. Flat land, and tents in the distance. It almost looked like Tarzans home, if it weren’t for what he saw outside the thin glassrathrather large, imposing dragon.
