The car ride had been far too quiet. Sheriff Danvers hadn’t said a single word past the initial “Get in.”
He knows who I am. Just like with Raccoon City. Not only did Umbrella own the town, they owned the high up people in it. The sinking feeling in Chris’s stomach intensified.
At least I have my gun. He had three extra clips too. One tucked in to his boot, another in his pocket, and a third in his belt. There was also a knife strapped to his ankle. He tried not to fidget as he waited for them to reach their destination.
They sat for a moment in silence. Then Chris heard it. Cerberus. Damn. Chris tried to stifle his reflexive move for his gun. His attempt was only partially successful. The Sheriff eyes him closely.
“You got a permit for that?”
“Back in my car?” No way in hell. The gun had been gotten through means Chris wasn’t really sure about. Barry had just handed it over, along with the rest of his supplies.
His answer, so not passing the test.
“Not long ago I got a fax. It contained the descript of of several terrorist suspects.”
Gee, where could this be going, Chris thought sarcastically.
“Christopher Redfield, ex S.T.A.R., ex Air Force. Wanted for questioning about certain events before the destruction of Raccoon City.”
“Are you going to take me in?” No, he would have done that already. He brought you out on a dark, deserted road instead.
How do I get out of this without killing?
“A lot of people have a lot of questions for you. I don’t have time for that though. Something’s happening in my town.”
So he isn’t Umbrella bought. Or maybe he just doesn’t know what’s really going on. That would make him just lie every other grunt. Very few seemed to know the whole truth.
Now I’m turning in to Mulder. The truth is out there.
“You have an Umbrella chemical plant here, but I doubt its as innocent as that. There’s a division of Umbrella know as White Umbrella, and the create bio weapons. Deadly bio weapons, like you couldn’t imagine.”
