Ash and co. and a local shopkeeper are accosted by a large group of Gulpin. Officer Jenny saves them, bringing the friends back to the Pok¨¦mon Center. They meet Nurse Joy and Professor Jacuzzi, whoare working to stop the Gulpin from eating all of the town's food supplies.

The professor's first plan involves a giant Pok¨¦ Block to lead the Gulpin away. The Gulpin try to return through the sewer, but Jenny and Joy block the way. The Gulpin emerge onto the street. Professor Jacuzzi arrives with a device that beams them up and shoots them away, but it breaks down with one Gulpin left to go. Ash sends Treecko out to battle and the machine restarts, grabbing both Pok¨¦mon. It explodes, and the two of them become oversized.

To avoid destroying the town, Treecko leads Gulpin to a lake, but is too tired to battle (shrinking back to normal). May suggests capturing Gulpin in a Pok¨¦ Ball. Nurse Joy gives the professor a Heavy Ball, and he captures the Gulpin, vowing to restore it to its normal size.



Ash and co. meet a new trainer Guy, who challange the Ash by his Loudred by Treecko. While battling, both Pok¨¦mon evolve at the same time, into Exploud and Grovyle. The battle continues, but Exploud won't listen to Guy. It hits Grovyle hard and runs off. Grovyle catches up with Exploud at a waterfall, and the two begin to battle again. Exploud still won't listen to Guy. Team Rocket interrupts, trying to capture Exploud, but Guy protects his Pok¨¦mon. Pikachu and Exploud send Team Rocket blasting off. Guy and Exploud reconcile, and Ash and Guy decide to finish the battle, Ash win.



Ash is near to Petalburg City and ready to battle with Norman, they r ready to eat sandwich then a trainer Pochya come their and challange the Ash by his Ludicolo or if he win he take their lunch. Ash and co. arrive in Petalburg City, where May and Max r swamped by a crowd of Norman Fans. Next side Team Rocket dress themselves as Norman Family and start selling Autographs for money. Here Ash said he is coming for battle Norman, then the whole cloud challange, Ash line by line defeat all, the crowd force May to battle and May win by his Torchic because Ash Pokemon is tired from continue battling. Ash choose Pikachu, Vigorath attack by Scratch, Pilachu block by Iron Tail, then Vigorath use Flamethrower which surprise May and Max, Caroline said Norman fights serious with Ash not like the normal trainer. Sizing up Vigoroth, Ash suddenly comes up with a plan. He orders Pikachu to use Quick Attack, dodging a Flamethrower from Vigoroth. As Pikachu closes the distance, Norman orders Vigoroth to use Scratch, but is surprised when Ash tells Pikachu to take the hit. Vigoroth's Scratch attack hits home, but the powerful Pok¨¦mon is suddenly paralyzed by Pikachu's innate Static Ability. Seizing the opportunity, Pikachu attacks with Iron Tail, knocking Vigoroth out.



Norman Send his last Polemon Slaking, Ash send Grovyle because he not want to harm Pikachu more. Slaking begins to attack with Focus Punchbut is stopped after Grovyle hits it in the face with Bullet Seed. The attack angers Slaking, who begins to go into a rage. It attacks with a powerful Earthquake. Grovyle dodge by jump, Slaking again attack by Hyper Beam then Grovyle attack Bullet Seed, but Hyper Beam cut the Bullet Seed and hit to Grovyle, Norman say withdraw to Ash because Grovyle not able on feet, Ash want to call Grovyle but Grovyle want to fight. Grovyle activates its Overgrow Ability, which powers up its Grass-type attacks. Norman orders Slaking to attack with Focus Punch while Ash tells Grovyle to use Leaf Blade. The two attack each other at the same time, and after a moment's pause, Slaking falls to the ground. Max not happy of his father defeat, before his father give Balance Badge, Max grab the Badge and lock into greenhouse. Norman talks things over with Max, explaining that the experience of losing is just as important as winning. Max returns the badge to Ash, who celebrates winning his fifth Gym badge.



Ash and Brock stop at May house for rest and next day headed back to Fortree City.
