Watching You
Cold embrace of the stone city
Walking in through the imposing wooden gates into the stone city, Aja's ears were immediately assaulted by the angry shouting of two Nord men.
“You come here, where you're not wanted, you eat our food, you pollute our city with your stink and you refuse to help the Stormcloaks.”
A female dark elf was the target of the harassment. In a calm voice, she replied “But we haven't taken a side because it's not out fight”
The second Nord piped up “Hey, maybe the reason these grey-skins don't help in the war is because they're all Imperial spies!”
“Imperial spies? You can't be serious!” Came the elfs incredulous reply.
As they walked away, the first one shouted “Maybe we'll pay you a visit tonight, little spy. We got ways of finding out what you really are.”
Keeping her head down, She walked straight up to the inn. She dropped ten septims on the rough wooden top of the bar.
“Those dark elf refugees will take over the city if we aren't careful” the barkeep warned the man sitting on the stool next to where Aja stood. Pocketing the coin, she showed Aja to her room down the hall. Once she was alone, Aja emptied all of the furs onto her bed and pulled out paper and charcoal.
Pulling her hood down lower over my face, she walked back to the bar. Heard any rumours lately? She scrawled and handed the note over. Aja could feel the woman gaze boring into her as she rolled the charcoal between her finger.
“Folk have been hearing some strange stuff coming from the Aretino place. Chanting. Talk is, little Aventus is trying to contact the Dark Brotherhood.” She replied warily, still staring at her.
The Dark Brotherhood? Looks like I get to have some fun again.
Aja was grinning when she left Candlehearth Hall.
