Something did not feel right, and it wasn’t like the haze that had settled over his mind when “Duncan” had attempted to placate Kirk’s mind with proclamations of peace and harmony, no it was something different, something in his surroundings. He was sure that the fact that he was in the Fade was a part of his unease, it was not unlike a dream, which was unsurprising given that it was the place where one’s consciousness travelled to when they dreamed but he had never dreamed this feeling before. That was not say one couldn’t dream it, but to dream of something and feel it was, without a doubt, not just a figment of the imagination but something real inhabiting one’s dreams was terrifying. Was it the darkspawn blood? Was that the cause of this feeling? The taint was inside his body, and as a Grey Warden he dreamed of things others did not, prophecies of the spreading Blight, visions of the Archdemon. It was in the Fade that the soiled city of the Maker lay; the true birthplace of the darkspawn and the Blight. He did feel a certain pull from the Blackened city in the distance, something in his blood stirring for just a second as he stared at it, but no, this was definitely something different. He could always feel it at his back, like two eyes, pinpricks of lights, roaming his body, knowing every inch of it, and all that lay inside. Yet, whenever he turned to find the source, it would be gone, but then he would find it at his back again; probing. Kirk had slain every demon, dreamer and vision that had manifested between him and the demon that kept he and his allies bound in the Fade, but their deaths did not quell the watching. When Kirk finally freed Leliana, Wynne, Morrigan and himself from the sloth demon’s traps and killed the disgusting being, the twisting world of the Fade quickly faded away along with that which had been watching him. He opened his eyes, relieved to be alive, and rose from the floor groggily; and after making sure everyone else was back in the real world, he collected the Litany of Adralla from Niall’s body and said a quick prayer for the brave but departed mage.
