Those eyes… Sparkling, glittering, golden eyes. He knew that gaze. Oh, Maker. They were longing and hoping and filled with so much love and despair. They were pleading him, begging him to remember who they belonged to. He couldn’t look at those eyes any longer. He turned his head. “No, Master,” he said. “He is a stranger to me.” Those eyes had burned a hole straight into his heart. He could feel it twinge in sorrow as that gold shimmered with anguish.
