Hide and seek
"What are you talking about?" Karasae asked, stunned.
"The man we saw drunk in broad daylight was not Koreli," Nessa replied, "It's obvious to me now. That display of drunken idiocy was a distraction, one I fell for quite well I might add. While everyone was looking at 'Koreli', he probably sent either his imp or his succubus, the only two demons that could possibly sneak in undetected, to grab one of the plant samples. Then he placed a curse on it and made the demon put it back. He knew of the stringent bookkeeping we use in our research, so that was the only way he could get a cursed sample into the bundle. Once the disguise enchantment breaks on that decoy we'll know who was working for him, but he probably doesn't know where Koreli is at this point."
"I can find him, but it's going to take some time," suddenly the demon they were watching through the circle threw her arms up and the circle went black before vanishing, "And now he knows someone is looking for him."
"She noticed we were watching?"
"She probably noticed as soon as I threw up the circle. When you went to receive the message, she was telling him demons were watching him getting raped, and that he was the laughing stock of her world. She only left it up as long as she did to humiliate him." Seeing Nessa cover her mouth with her hand in silent shock she added, "Koreli and his minion are nothing like you and I. They couldn't possibly be any more different. He's just a fuck toy to her, nothing more."
After a moment, Nessa responded, "As amusing as it is to watch, we need to find him before he attacks again. How much can you narrow it down initially?"
"I know he's somewhere between twelve points, all of which lay outside Silvermoon City. It's a fairly large area, but it rules out the city completely. There are several buildings out there though, and if we just go searching people's homes he's going to notice and flee."
"Scrying trackers tend to use three triangulation points to find someone. How is it you have twelve points?"
"Like I said when I first seduced you, your math only has three dimensions."
The completely offhanded way Karasae referenced that made Nessa blush and stutter, "Uh, um, y-yeah well we aren't tracking demons, we're tracking a blood elf. You only need three dimensions."
"Wow, you have a point, -and- you're blushing. That's two points for you. Let's get a map of the area and we can narrow it down."
They laid a map out on a large table, and Karasae started writing out the match on a large whiteboard Nessa sometimes used if she found something interesting in her samples. They began eliminating variables that couldn't exist in three dimensional math, and were quickly left with only five points. Nessa removed two of these, arguing that he probably wasn't floating in midair or buried underground. They plotted the points on the map. Suddenly the light went on and Nessa went out to investigate. Two guards were at her door.
"Sister," one of them said nervously, "I bring disturbing news! The man we arrested wasn't Koreli at all!"
"I'm aware of this. We're scrying to find his location now. Fortunately, we know for a fact he isn't in the city."
"We will send one of our top scryers to aid your investigation at once," the other guard said, "We will have justice!"
When the scryer arrived, Nessa greeted him at the door and welcomed him in. Karasae was still doing calculations on the board, and was redrawing points on the map every now and then as she narrowed it down. The scryer looked from the map to the board and said, "Good, you've narrowed it down to three points already. Is the charm still active?"
"No," Karasae replied, "The demon removed it after a short time. It hasn't been gone very long though."
The scryer drew a circle connecting the three newest points on the map and began an incantation. Bright purple light emanated from the line and a pentagram appeared inside. The polygon in the middle shrank and adjusted to the northeast, then became a dot.
"You did most of my work for me, I must admit. The building he's in is here."
"And that's where he's going to die." Nessa snarled, bolting out the door. Karasae went with her.
"Sister, wait!" the scryer yelled, chasing after her, "There's no reason to do this alone!"
"I'm never alone, brother."
As the three ran towards Koreli's location, the scryer called out to several guards to go with them. By the time they got to the building, there were four guards following. Karasae kicked in the double doors with one well placed hit and they rushed in. The door shut behind them before the other five could enter, and a seal crept from the middle all the way out to beyond the stone frame. Koreli stood beside a doomguard and smiled wickedly.
"Welcome... 'sister'. It certainly took you long enough." They quickly banished each other's minions and began throwing up curses and afflictions on each other. "Your diseases are weak, Nessa! What good is studying demonology when I can simply wish your precious little demon away?"
Nessa drew her dagger and Koreli drew a mace. Their weapons clashed, and the afflictions began to take their toll. Nessa was getting sloppy with her attacks. She was distracted by the various pains all over her body from Koreli's superior magic. The demons came back into play and began fighting each other. Karasae deftly lept around the room, occasionally flying a short distance to dodge the doomguard's attacks. Her whip fell across her opponent's face over and over. She had to be very careful with such a powerful opponent. Although he was slow, physically as well as mentally, a single hit would likely have crushed the succubus, leaving Nessa in dire straights. Finally, her whip glowed with shadow magic and the lash landed on the demon's neck. It fell to one knee, roared, then fell face down. Koreli looked over, a sudden fear glimmering in his eyes.
"Impossible! No mere succubus could destroy a a doomguard!"
"What did you think happened when a warlock studied demonology, Koreli?" Nessa laughed, "Let this mark the last time you will ever underestimate me!"
She lunged and stabbed him in the lower chest, but her dagger nicked his rib and was pushed sideways. He knocked her away and the dagger ripped back out, leaving a painful but survivable wound. Karasae turned her focus to the lone warlock now, but only landed a single blow before being banished again. Turning away from Nessa cost him though, as she cast a shadow bolt that sent him flying back into the wall. He got up quickly and lunged at her. Their mana was low, and they were reduced to melee combat. Nessa seemed to be in worse shape than Koreli, however. She limped and bled from various places, despite the fact that he hadn't physically touched her yet. He couldn't land a single blow.
"No wonder your minion was able to rape you so easily," she breathed mockingly, "You're weak."
"Bitch!" he screamed, swinging his mace as hard as he could. He finally hit her in the ribs. The weapon connected with a sickening crunch that sent her sprawling. She struggled to breathe as she started to get up. He took a rather large mana crystal in his hand, adding, "You know what the difference is between you and me? I'm walking out of here alive."
The mana crystal became vapor and Karasae was suddenly free again. She charged her whip with shadow energy again and struck him across the eye. He yelled out in pain, holding his face and staggering backward. Nessa managed to get to all fours, and coughed up a small amount of blood. Koreli regained his composure and lowered his hand. He kept the affected eye closed and turned his attention to Karasae.
"I'm getting really sick of your shit!" he hissed.
Throwing one hand up, he set her on fire. The demon shrieked in pain, and Nessa looked up, getting to her feet shakily. Without warning, she lept at Koreli.
"Get the hell away from my comrade!" she yelled.
Koreli barely blocked Nessa's dagger as she went to stab him in the heart. She spun to her left and swung the dagger with her. When she came full circle, she lodged it in the side of Koreli's neck. His eyes widened and she pulled it out. Blood gushed from the wound and he silently mouthed something before hitting the ground. Nessa suddenly felt weak, and she stumbled a few feet before collapsing. Karasae rushed to Nessa's side and laid her on her back. A small amount of blood trickled down the side of Nessa's mouth. There was a series of loud explosions from the outside, and the stone door frame began to crack and split. The door was ripped out from the outside, and Karasae saw several guards, the scryer, two tauren, and much to her surprise, Zux Boomcrank. Zux ran in, club in hand, and went over to Koreli, who was looking rather like a fish out of water at this point.
"You trying to kill one of my customers, Koreli?" Zux squeaked, "That's bad business, very bad business." The goblin brought his club down on the back of Koreli's neck, snapping his neck and killing him instantly.
"Hurry, demon!" one of the tauren bellowed, "We can still save her if we get her back to the city quickly!"
"The man we saw drunk in broad daylight was not Koreli," Nessa replied, "It's obvious to me now. That display of drunken idiocy was a distraction, one I fell for quite well I might add.
