Last request
Eroth knelt before the Dark Lady. “You called for me, my queen?” He asked.
“Do you know the charges laid before you?” Silvannas Windrunner asked.
“Yes, my lady.” Eroth said.
“Do you deny them?” She asked.
“No, my lady.” Eroth said.
“Do you have anything to say for yourself that might ebb my anger?” She asked.
“Nothing that excuses my actions, my lady. I spared them for the sake of one I loved in life.” Eroth said. “For her sake, I spared the lives of our enemies.”
“I see.” She said. “And you accept your punishment?”
“Yes, my lady.” Eroth said.
“Good. Your cooperation is noted.” She said. “I’ll show you kindness in return in the form of a last requests.”
Eroth opened his mouth to speak but stopped, seeming to think for a short time. “I request my punishment be put off. Even if just for a week.” He said. “I wish to marry the woman I love.”
“One month delay is granted.” She said.
He looked up at her with a sad smile. “Thank you, my queen.”
“What were you going to ask for?” She asked.
“To hear you sing one last time. Your sad song has long warmed my deathly cold heart.” He said. He bowed deeply to her and turned to leave. As he reached the exit he heard the ghostly music and the haunting voice.
“Anar’alah... Anar’alah... Belore.”
He turned and listened as his queen and her banshee sang of the blood elves tragic loss, a tear falling from his empty eyes.
