Author's Notes: This fic contains XS2 spoilers as well as yaoi content, with Tony/chaos as the main focus. Rating is NC-17. You've been warned.
This fic is a sequel to "From the Abyss."
Author's Notes 2007: I don't know when I'll be able to continue this, as I'm busy with other fics now, but I'd like to return to it sometime. For now, I'll post what I had of the unfinished next chapter, though it isn't much.

Chapter 4 - Burning Shadows
Hopping on one foot towards the closet, a boy with messy blond hair pulled on his boot. As he approached, he looked up into the large mirror that covered the door. He was eight-years old, although he was commonly mistaken for at least three years older than he was. His grandmother often remarked on this, telling him how much he resembled his father, and not just physically.
Old souls, she said.
It didn't make much sense to him. From the few photos he had seen, Tony always thought he looked more like his mother. She had the same green eyes and blond hair as he did, rather than the raven-black hair of his father's side of the family. Yet, with a wild smile that matched that of the man reflected in the hanging portrait behind him, Tony threw open the closet.
Several articles of clothing went flying out of the closet, while a small device on the bed complained loudly with static and beeps.
"...hurry...where..." It crackled.
"I am!" Tony shouted as he finally pulled on a white sweater. The material was fairly thin, and easy to tuck into his pants. Like the legs of his white pants, he had to roll up the sleeves several times. That particular outfit was way too big for him, due to the fact that his grandmother had bought it for him. He was big for his age, but not that big...
"What?" His grandmother shouted from somewhere below.
"Nuthin'!" Tony yelled back.
"...dork...here...!" The device squawked.
"SHUT UP, Hammer!"
"TONY!" His grandmother shouted.
"I didn't mean you, grandma!"
After pulling on an oversized orange-gold vest, he ran around the room looking for the gloves. He managed to trip over his own shoes, sending him crashing into the dresser. Several model starships and old travel magazines fell onto his head.
"Are you okay up there!?"
"I'm fine!" Tony called down. He muttered to himself as he adjusted the size of his boots again. They weren't cheap, the material was meant to be able to grow with the wearer. But he was certain they weren't well-designed to shrink, seeing how often they loosened on him. They were a pain.
Even so... For months after his birthday, his grandmother had suffered without her medicine. She tried to hide it, but he could see...
Jumping briskly to his feet, he grabbed the device from the bed and hooked it onto his belt. He went barreling down the stairs and through the hall. He halted in the kitchen and went digging through the cabinets.
In the midst of stuffing cookie-filled baggies into his pockets, he heard his grandmother's voice calling from the shrine room. Tucking a banana into his belt, next to the device, he went to see what she wanted.
