The End
**Kay! This is the end! I am going to post an epilogue though, so it's only the end for somebody!**
Malon was happier than she could remember since marrying Link. It had something to do with said man too. For three months now he had gradually become more open, saying more and even singing songs she had never heard as he worked. Their lovemaking was more intense, his face in the moment instead of daydreaming of another woman, like she knew he often did.
She didn’t blame him for this, he was very popular, many people knew him and the Queen even visited him sometimes, brining along her tightly clad body guard Sheik. Link was not the only one who was unfaithful to their wedding vows…
She watched him from their bedroom window as he worked; building a cuckoo coop, at last, so her father would no longer smell like the foul birds. He was sleek with sweat, but just now that did not appeal to her. She had wonderful news for him. After several long years of marriage she was finally with child! She could not wait to tell him, but she was waiting until after they made love tonight. He would be happier than he was even now, she was sure!
She walked slowly from the window, not seeing her father approach her husband.

Link set the hammer down and wiped the sweat from his brow, smiling down at his precise handiwork. Talon had been watching him all day. In fact, Talon had been watching him for several days, a curious demeanor around him. For once he didn’t get drunk every night, singing late into the night and waking up late to do no work and watch the horses play or occasionally milk some of the cows.
The man that Link was thinking about approached him, holding out a bottle of famous Lon Lon Milk to his son-in-law. “Link… there is something that we need to talk about.” He said as Link took a long drink.
“Yes Talon?” he said, putting the stopper back into the bottle. He was a bit apprehensive now, but that was okay. He knew that it was probably about the man’s daughter.
“The scar on your arm… I know what it’s from.” Talon said in a quiet voice. This completely surprised Link, making him drop the bottle.
“Oh… Well Malon does get feisty sometimes…” he chuckled weakly. Talon was shaking his head with a sad look on his face.
“The woman is only messing with you. She does not love you, all she sees you as is a toy to play with, discard when she pleases, ruin you life maybe. I know these things, my boy.” Talon held up his arm, and for the first time ever Link saw a scar there that was identical to the one he bore on his arm. It was the mark from his first night with his Goddess where she had bitten him.
“Maybe she was just playing with you,” Link said with venom in his voice, not wanting to believe such a wonderful connection might be false, “but I am a real man, strong, young, a hero. Not many men can measure up. She likes it when I dominate her.” He was shaking with outrage at Talon. And at himself for getting so worked up over such a little thing, surly the goddess had only been playing with Talon because he was a week little man.
“No my boy, it happened to me, my father and to his father. You will give her a child, and your wife will see you with her. Your wife will either kill herself or bring shame onto the whole family by telling tales about a man with an unusual love for his horse. It will ruin the ranch. You must stop.” Talon picked up the fallen bottle and walked into the stables, not looking back.

Malon had heard every word that Link had said, but her father had been talking to quietly to overhear his thick rumbling voice. What other woman? Was that the reason Link had been so happy recently? He had found a woman who had seduced her father and was now spending secret nights with her husband. She did not really want to think about it, so she went back up to bed.
Dinner was a quiet affair that night, Malon being in no mood for her usual constant chatter, Talon having taken one of the horses and went to the Market, staying for the night, and Link seemingly lost in his own thoughts. When they retired, they did not make love like Malon had wanted earlier, she did not want it now. She lay awake for a long time, knowing that Link was awake beside her.
“What is it?” he asked after an hour had passed.
“Link, I’m going to have your baby.” Malon said quietly. Maybe it would sway him from his lover, or drive him to her, but Malon did not care. She had the ranch, she had a baby and she had her father. If Link left, he would never be allowed back.
“Wonderful news,” he sounded more thoughtful than he did excited. “I am too tired now to be happy my love, but in the morning I will tell you exactly how happy I am.” He turned his back to her and the gentle rhythm of sleep took him. Malon drifted off as well.

Link slipped from bed as soon as he was sure that Malon was asleep. He wanted to see his true lover. The one he truly loved. Quickly and not so silently he left the house, heading into the stable, back to the last stall on the left. But Epona was still in her full Equine form, usually she knew when he was coming and shifted before he was even out of his room.
“My love?” he asked, hoping there was no bad answer for this. Her big beautiful eyes gazed at him; they seemed a bit less bright tonight. She lay down, folding her perfect legs beneath her, lifting her tail.
‘Mount me like this tonight my love, I know you have dreamed of it.’ Her voice floated softly through his head. He did not hesitate.
* * *
Something woke her, and she did not know what. Link was not in their bed, and she sensed danger. She crept to where she kept a cross bow and bolts. Silently she went through the door to her room and down the stairs. The danger was in the stables, she knew instinctively.
The sight that met her eyes though was one she was not prepared for, but not too surprising either. In the last stall on the left Epona was laying down, her legs folded beneath her, head thrown back, making strange noises. As Malon walked more confidently back, she knew what she would see even before she saw her husband thrusting wildly into her favorite horse. His head thrown back, a look of such ecstasy on his face of the like she had never seen.
She knew what she had to do. He had always loved the damn horse more than her. Tears ran down her face as she kept her eyes on her husband. She set the heavy weapon down, and instead pulled a small knife from her boot. This was the end of life…
* * *
Link snapped open his eyes as he hit his climax. It was the most wonderful so far, being able to mount his horse as he had always dreamed, he cried out in love… and surprise. Malon was staring at him with tears in her eyes…

For Link…
