I do not own Legend of Dragoon, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Friends Can Be Helpful, When Sane
I don’t own legend of dragoon, or playstation (duh!) but Albert is back in my room. Should’ve warned him the treehouse was unstable…oh well. Oh, and thankz 4 the idea, Star Dragonmaiden. C ya,
Albert yawned. He should be up now, and he knew it. But it’s not like someone could just come in and shake him awake. He turned over so his face was in the pillow ‘whoa…intense dream…’ But why last night? That could have happened at anytime, but it just had to affect him, leave him exhausted, on a day he would probably be busier than usual. Damn.
Manda shook herself out of her trance at work. She had gone into a blank look, focusing on the break table. "Hey, what’s up?" She looked up. Just leave it to Erin to interrupt thoughts. Sometimes Manda thought that her friends’ purpose in life was to annoy people. She was nice though.
"Why ya staring at the table? It’s not going to speak or anything, you do realize, right?"
Manda laughed. "Nah, just had a really intense dream…it felt so real…" she trailed off. "Oh, really? About what?"
Manda smirked. "Let me put it this way-I can’t get a man in real life, so no I’m fantasizing about one." Erin leaned forward. "Ooooh…who is it? Come on, tell me!" Manda groaned inwardly. She’ll never let me live this one down.
"Erin, do you remember the game we used to play on Playstation? The Legend of the Dragoon?" She tilted her head to the right a little, and then grinned. "Yeah, that one was fun. We never beat it though…why do ya ask?"
"Do you remember all the characters?" A nod. "Do you remember Albert? The king in the game?" Erin just looked at her oddly. "You fantasize about him? What about Lloyd? Or Dart? Why him?" Manda sighed. She knew this would useless. "I don’t know. But they are quite vivid. And worth the sleep deprivation." She ended the last comment with a grin.
"I can’t believe this! You’re in love with a man in from dreams!" She burst into laughter.
Albert was reading a book. Or rather, it looked like he was reading a book. In fact, he was sitting at a table in the library with his face propped between his hands, asleep. He’d come in to look for a book, he’d found one, and half an hour into reading it, the words gradually blurred as his eyes shut.
He didn’t stand a chance against his attacker. Well, that’s what you’d think, anyway. Meru snuck up behind him, and covered his eyes. "Guess who?"
Albert was suddenly snapped out of his slumber, and he groggily answered, "Meru. No one else would attempt that sort of joke. Especially when I’m reading." She giggled. "You weren’t reading. You were sleeping, even I can tell that!" He looked at her wearily. "What do you want?"
"Gee, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed today, didn’t he? Why are you so tired that you’re sleeping instead of reading that?" He sighed. "You wouldn’t understand. You wouldn’t even know what the dreams are based on."
"Dreams? Now we’re getting somewhere. And don’t give me the ‘you won’t understand’ stuff. I’m almost grown up, therefore I’d probably know! Well, somewhat anyway…" She trailed off. Albert turned to look at her more closely. "Well, maybe you can. Have you ever had a dream so vivid you thought it was real?"
She thought for a minute. "Sometimes. But I usually can tell which is which." He looked downwards for a little while. "None of like, men or anything? Mine seem to revolve around this one girl…" "Well, for a while I was dreaming about a man, but I couldn’t tell who he was, I only knew it was a guy. As for the ‘one girl’ thing, I wouldn’t know. Do ya know her name?"
"That’s the thing. Except for last night, I couldn’t speak to her in the dreams. But last night she said her name was Manda. Does that make sense to you?" Albert laughed mentally. And they always thought Meru as a child…and here he was getting her advice. "Not really. But maybe it was because both of you wanted to speak to each other? I dunno. See ya around, Al."
He winced at the nickname. It really shouldn’t bother him by now, after hearing it so many times. Maybe Lisa could help him…even if she couldn’t, he’d be able to see Emille again, to make it so his heart didn’t go in a different direction. ‘Yeah right. It’s not like you’ll actually be there beside her at any point.’
