Cold Winter

(Winter 1474)

“Stupid girl! You can not do anything right!” A woman’s voice scolded as the sound of a hand-slap was echoed through the kitchen. Not even making a scream, the young girl had fell on her butt. Her hand was on her left cheek. “You filthy child. Even my own daughter can do better than you can. Why did the Count allow such a creature like you to stay here?” Carmilla shouted angrily as she was close to grabbing the girl’s neck. Before Violet could stand, Carmilla had slapped the girl across the face again. This time causing blood to seep through her skin. “…” The girl did not flinch as she had stumbled across the floor.

The only thing she was able to reach out for was a decent size cleaver and aimed it at the woman. “Do not touch me again Ma’am. I will not accept anyone harming me…not even a beast like you.” Violet warned her. Her heart was racing as the hand that was gripping the cleaver was shaking. The clothes she was in was a Victorian dress with gold lace and made of copper colored fabric. Her hair was pulled back in a low bun and her straight bangs covered the top of her eyes.

“I am NOT yours…” She threatened Carmilla. “Of course you are not mine. You are not his either. You are not anyone’s and you will never be more. Pathetic existences like you should lie in the dirt and rot. That must be the best thing you could possibly do.” Carmilla scowled proudly. Ignoring Carmilla’s comments, the girl finally was able to stand and moved herself out of the kitchen. She had made her way through the large, long empty hallways of the castle and found her quarters. Even though she was only a simple human, she refused to turn into anything more or less.

“She’s a tiny little thing…no wonder many men would not want to give the woman a glance at. She lacks the feminine appeal in an average figure. She is probably underweight as well.” One male soldier spoke as he whispered to another. “I can make her a woman, let me do it tonight.” The other vampire licked his fangs. “Dracula would not appreciate it if you intend to touch her.” The soldier sighed. “Taking a maiden’s head is not a bad thing and that maiden is no maiden, she is not even considered a wench.” The vampire chuckled. It was only the dead of night as Violet was watching the moon through her window.

She let out a soft breath as she had noticed how far away the castle was from the town. “So, mortal. How long do you intend to be no one’s pet around here?” The vampire questioned as he had stepped into the room. His black hair was pulled back in a low ponytail and his pale blue eyes blinked as he closed the door behind him. Violet gasped and turned around to face him. “I am no one’s anything and I plan to stay that way.” She spoke coldly. “It is not fair if you wander the halls freely. The Count seems to ignore your youth, but I will not.” He displayed his fangs as he took a step forward in the girl’s direction.

“You are old as dirt. I do not want to associate with a dirt fool.” Violet snapped. “Such a wench-” The vampire disappeared in a haze and appeared right in front of the human. His hands were on her wrist and the girl was not in shock. “Do not even think about doing harm monster, I am a child of the holy blood. Taking my virgin purity will not save thee.” Violet warned. “Holy Blood? Ha, such a child could only be convinced because of a cross will simply protect one.” The vampire spoke confidently before licking his lips.
