I do not own Baten Kaitos. I do not make any money from these writings.
To know for sure
It was a beautiful morning in the Celestial Alps. Or it would be, if Kalas would just look out the window. Instead, he was sitting in the kitchen, not bothering to cook anything. He wasn't sure if he could take this anymore. He was contemplating killing himself, and the unborn creature within him. It was so hard. On the one hand, he'd be rid of this stigma and no one would know. On the other hand, he'd probably be found by Xelha and the others, and he wanted to live, not to mention the creature inside him didn't do anything wrong. Just twirling the knife on the floor, Kalas was trying to figure out if the pros outweighed the cons.
In the end, he decided not to do it.
"Stupid knife!" He yelled to no one as he threw the blade across the room and flopped down on the floor, not really caring if the living being in him got hurt or not. "How do chicks deal with this?" He was answered by a growling in his stomach. "Oh, all right. If you say so," he said to the creature. Apparently, it needed to eat, too, and who knows how far it was up inside Kalas' body.
Getting up, Kalas got everything he needed. He didn't know what this thing preferred. Wasn't he supposed to have cravings? Or was that just for women and their human babies? Kalas didn't know for sure, so he just cut up a few vegetables he had and made stir fry chao style. He actually grabbed a few ingredients along with his clothes before he left. Something told him that if he didn't go down to one of the other nations and get more rations soon, he was going to run out and starve. And he would have to do it soon. He didn't want people to think about why he was growing a stomach a month or so down the road.
He hoped he had money packed in with his bag.
After sitting in the middle of the floor of the main room, Kalas realized how this creature was going to come out. He didn't have a vagina, so the only way for the thing to come out was out of his ass. Sounded uncomfortable. Was he sure he could take it? He had to. No matter the method, the thing had to come out somehow. Oh, well.
Still, the thought was enough to lose his appetite. He dropped the bowl with the unfinished stir fry and pushed it away with his chopsticks. Getting up, he changed his clothes, went outside, and set off for the nearest town.

Xelha was worried. This wasn't like Kalas. He left a note, and he said not to look for him. What was wrong?
What could possibly be so horrible that he couldn't tell her about it? He could tell her anything, no matter how embarrassing.
Right?

The carrier was gone. The monster lumbered around the area, to check if he wasn't hiding, or dead.
...The monster had never tried a human like that before. All the other potential carriers had been female, and they all suffered the same fate. They became insane and died, and none of his children were ever born, since they were never carried to term.
He decided to go for a last resort idea, and implant the egg in a male body, instead. He tried many girls before this. Young, old, thin, chubby, rich, poor...it didn't matter. He tried them all.
There was no body. The carrier must've escaped. It had been twenty-four hours, and he had returned to check on the boy. But he disappeared. This could only mean one thing. He was still alive.
Yes. There was no doubt about it. He was the One. The young man would be the carrier for the creature's child.
In the end, he decided not to do it.
