^You’d think I’d be happy.^

He pulled into the garage, killed the car and pressed the remote button to shut the garage door behind him. He kept his hands on the steering wheel, however, just staring at his knuckles, which were whitening in their tight grip.

Perfect home, perfect car, perfect life.

So everyone was told. The media was always lying about how happy other people were. Who were they to say if his life was perfect or not?

Sure, he had money. He had a beautiful house and an impressive car, too. He could buy anything he wanted.

Well, almost anything…

Finally, Xemnas stepped out of the car and walked into his house, large and majestic as his status would demand. Expensive paintings, regal furniture, everything chosen by impeccable taste… and yet he was still too miserable to enjoy any of it. He lived alone in the large mansion; there was only one other person in the entire mansion, a guard and servant named Saïx.

He had chosen the blue-haired youth for strength and dedication to his job; at the time, Xemnas was married to his work and needed someone to watch his house and keep it in order. Every once in awhile, the two of them would talk, though Saïx was more of a listener than a talker, giving the impression that he didn’t care. Now Xemnas had found himself wishing he’d hired someone a little more talkative.

“Welcome home.” was the greeting at the kitchen entryway. Saïx’s back was turned to the entrance, and he was just finishing up the meal he’d prepared. He picked up the two plates and carried them out to the dining room, placing one at the head of the table and retreating to a seat some chairs down with the other.

Xemnas was used to this weird behavior, having put up with it for some years now, but for some reason it had started to bother him. Nonetheless, he sat down to his meal, prepared to eat it in silence.

Perfect job, perfect power, perfect life.

Yeah, right.

Here he was, the most powerful and wealthy man in the free world… basically eating alone. He was no longer getting any sort of satisfaction out of his job, or else he wouldn’t have even noticed Saïx’s quirks. If his life was supposed to be as perfect as the magazines and newspapers said, then why was he stuck in a constant state of monotony?

He sighed slightly, taking another bite of food. It certainly was good, whatever it was…

“What’s wrong?”

Xemnas was almost startled by the sound of Saïx’s voice, and he had to take a moment to keep from inadvertently shooting him a look of any sort. When he did raise his head, the younger male was watching him rather calmly, although he noticed that there was something very alive flickering in those orange eyes, like fire itself was held within him.

He found himself entertained by his own poetic musing.

“Nothing, nothing, just work is all.” Xemnas said, waving a hand. The other stared at him for a long moment, then grabbed his plate and relocated to a nearer chair.

“What about it?” Was Saïx actually trying to make conversation? If so, he had a great sense of timing.

“It seems much duller now than it used to, that’s all. Life seems a tad… dull, I suppose.” Xemnas shook his head.

“Well, that’s obvious.” Saïx said bluntly, “You used to rave about work all the time.”

Xemnas eyed Saïx for a moment as he ate; Saïx had been listening during those rants? And knew and remembered what they were about? No matter, the man had a point. Xemnas used to love his work, and he wanted that again. “Something must have changed.” he said, mostly to himself.

“I doubt that, sir.” Saïx said, closing his eyes. “Usually, when you stop enjoying something, it means that change is needed, not that it’s happened.” He opened an eye and looked at Xemnas. “What do you need to change?”

He was rather taken aback by the question, and found himself pondering on it. ^…What do I need to change…?^ he wondered.

Saïx just shrugged after a moment. “You probably just need to get out more.” he said, picking up his plate and walking off to put it in the sink. “Rather than lazing about here.”

Xemnas cocked an eyebrow, standing and following Saïx. “What do you mean? I’m as social as anyone else is.”

“You only get out socially for charities and all that rich BS. In fact, I don’t even think that counts, seeing as you’re pretty much required to go to them.” Saïx said, shrugging as he rinsed off his plate. He shut off the water and gave Xemnas a flat look. “Let’s face it. You’re not a people person. You don’t really have the capacity to worry about others.”

“Now you’re just being offensive.” Xemnas said, narrowing his eyes coolly.

“Yeah… I seem to do that a lot.” Saïx replied, shrugging and crossing his arms as he leaned against the counter. “I think that’s why I don’t have many friends. I’m not prone to sugar-coating things.” He offered a half-smile. “Tell me something; why do you do what you do? Why are you a monopolist? You start one small company, help it to become big and famous, and then start another, and another… But to what end?”

Xemnas wasn’t sure how to answer that immediately. After a long moment of silence, he shrugged awkwardly and said, “I was young. I thought I could change the world if I made a big enough business empire.”

“I’m sure you have; I’m also sure it’s the change you intended to make.” Saïx said with a smirk that plainly stated he knew that, if Xemnas had made some sort of mark on the world, it wasn’t the change he had originally aimed for.

Something’s changed.

Xemnas’ eyes narrowed as that fire burning in Saïx’s eyes burned a little more intently. “What about you? You can’t tell me you’re so happy, when you barely ever even say two words.” he pointed out sternly.

Saïx’s face returned to its normal, nonresponsive look. “No, I’m not happy. But I’m content enough. If I ever become miserable, then I’ll just change my situation again.” Another, more alluring smirk graced his lips. “Maybe I could help you out, hm?”

Now he was just being weird again. “What do you mean by that?”

“What do you think I mean?” Saïx tilted his head.

Xemnas frowned slightly, sizing up his guard carefully. “…What about you? Why do you remain here?”

“Isn’t it obvious? You’re the reason I stay here.”

Obvious wasn’t the word to be used.

Xemnas’ face took on a serious expression as he walked over, looking down at Saïx. “Are you trying to say you pity me?” he asked.

Saïx chuckled, actually looking somewhat amused. “You really are people-stupid, aren’t you?” he retorted, leaning up so that their faces were inches apart. He could feel the blue-haired male’s breath on his lips…

Seconds later they were in Xemnas’ room, half-naked and on the bed. He was pinning Saïx down, their bodies pressed together as their mouths fought in a battle of sucking and nibbling, tongues occasionally lashing out at eachother.

Xemnas’ knee was planted firmly between Saïx’s thighs, which were rubbing up towards his pelvis as the pale man treaded his nails lightly along Xemnas’ back, trying to pull him closer. In repose, Xemnas slid an arm under Saïx’s lower back and pulled the skinnier body up to his for a moment. Then he let it drop back to the bed, laying his lower half on top of Saïx’s so that they were belly-to-belly.

Saïx moved his mouth to the taller male’s ear, nipping at it for a moment as his nails raked up the darker back, sending feel-good shivers rippling through Xemnas and stoking the fire. A moment later the teeth had released the earlobe as a gasp made its way out of Saïx’s mouth, Xemnas having found his way to the bluenette’s neck.

Most obvious of sweet spots.

Hands dragged down slender sides until Xemnas had found the obstruction he was looking for; Saïx’s pants were gone in about ten seconds, if that. Fully exposed, Saïx’s skin seemed to be made of the moonlight itself, with such flawlessness and seamlessness that it was almost surreal.

More random poetic musings…

Xemnas pressed into Saïx’s body, earning a sort of purr from his companion. He had to pause for a moment; it had been a long, long time since he’d had anyone this… Hell, he couldn’t think of the word, nor did he have time to think of it. Saïx grabbed a handful of Xemnas’ hair and leaned up, locking their lips together for a searing kiss; a moment later he had released the older male and backed away slightly, giving Xemnas a demanding look.

Feral. Saïx looked completely feral, like a wild dog.

He tackled the bluenette back down with another kiss, which burned hotter than the last. He started off rocking into the body below him, which quickly turned into nothing short of slamming at Saïx’s urging. Xemnas eventually had to hold the headboard with one of his hands, the other flattened on Saïx’s back as the blue-haired man twisted and writhed in the most interesting of ways until he pulled the platinum blonde to completion.

Something’s changed.
.....................................................

This theme: Energy. In this case, energy used to change our lives, for one way or another.

Saix helped Xemnas see that he needed to change his life in some way. Then Saix helped Xemnas make the change.

Saix is a helpful little man, no? ;D

And to Roku - I plan to use both Arcanas if all continues going well. ;D That's almost 80 stories... .____. Fuck.
