First Mission Complete
"Dr. Cain I did it! I wiped out the Maverick insurgence along the Central Highway!"
X was brimming with delight as he gave his report to the doctor.
"Well done, X. I have to-"
"Whoa, pal. Not so fast! Your little slip-up with that purple guy and nearly DYING before I flew in to your rescue?"
Zero's smug sense of accomplishment could well be felt by everyone within a hundred miles.
"X...is this true?"
"Well, Dr. Cain, yes. But I really had the situation in hand!"
"HA! More like that guy in the Ride Armor had you in his! Literally hahaha!"
Dr. Cain shook his head. But then he smiled that wonderful smile that brought everything back into perspective.
"Don't worry about it, X. It was your first try. But maybe for the next mission I have set out for you..."
"Next mission?"
Before X could even start polishing his solid blue armor he was up and ready for another challenge.
"AHEM! For the next mission I have set out for you, I think Zero should scout along."
Zero turned up his nose in spite of what he'd just heard.
"Hmph! While the kid's got some serious potential, I don't think I need to be playing babysitter. That weirdo in the Armor was a one in a million shot. I'd already done my mission over on the outskirts so I figure I'd see how the newbie was doin'. Good thing I came."
"Yes that's all well and good. But anyway, the mission. I've just received some startling information from a few Hunter satellites hovering in the Northern region of the city that Chill Penguin has amassed a small gathering of local Reploids to join Sigma's cause. I'm afraid the population of the Northern areas is teeming with Maverick activity! I hope you both can handle it..."
X puffed out his chest in a feat to look like a chiseled veteran
"No problem, Doc. As long as Zero doesn't try to steal the spotlight TOO often, I think I'll be just fine."
Zero turned his back as if he was about to leave, but abruptly spoke.
"I won't get in your way, X, if you don't get in mine. You're a good Hunter. Just don't make too many mistakes and you'll be fine. Now let's get the Hell outta here."
They both turned to Dr. Cain and gave a Maverick Hunter salute, then began to teleport to the North.
