Enter the Sin'dorai

The visit with Windhorn’s mother had gone well. She’d been moved to tears by finding her son was still alive. She’d cried and hugged him. Taken him to the grave of his father. Hugged him and cried. Hugged Marri, thanking her for saving her baby. Cried and hugged him. Cooked them a wonderful dinner. Hugged him and cried. Talked with them. Cried and hugged him. Insinuated that Windhorn ought to marry Marri and take care of her in Eroth’s stead. Hugged him and cried. Out right insisted they should get married. Cried and hugged him. Then allowed them to continue on their way.
Windhorn had been mortified by the way his mother acted in front of Marri. Marri however was highly amused.
“She be a nice woman.” Marri said.
“Yes, she is.” Windhorn replied.
“Ya be lucky.” She said. “I risk me life if I want ta see me parents.”
Windhorn nodded. “Where do you want to go now?” He asked.
“Hmm... Let’s go... ta... “ She thought for a short bit. “Ah! Let’s go ta Westfall!”
“Why Westfall? It’s alliance territory.” Windhorn said.
“I be knowin’ dat. Bet we can kill deir flight master an deir guards before help be arriving. It be too easy. A great laugh!” She said. “Don’ dat sound fun?”
“You want to raid Westfall?” He asked incredulously. Then he got it. She was attempting to forget the overwhelming pain by taking it out on the enemy.
“Why not?” She asked.
“Just the two of us?” He asked.
She seemed to think this over for a few seconds. “Hmm... ya be right. It be more fun if we ‘ave more.” She cupped her hands around her mouth. “We be raidin’ Westfall! Who be wantin’ ta come?!” She yelled.
“I’ll come.” Came a voice from behind them. They turned. A blood elf stood before them. His golden hair was short and spiked. Beside him was a black wolf. He smiled a smug smile.
Marri suppressed a frown. “Elf...” She mumbled to herself.
“Yes, an elf. One with wonderful hearing, my sweet.” He said.
“Don’ ya call me dat, elf.” She said.
“Then tell me your name.” He said.
“Marri.” She replied.
“Marri. An angelic name.” He said, taking her hand. He placed a kiss on the back of it, which was promptly snatched away with a look of disgust.
Windhorn was confused. “I’m Windhorn.” He said.
“Windhorn. I pleasure.” He said, giving his hand a firm shake.
“And you are?” Windhorn asked.
“Reign.” He said. “This is Raze.” He patted the wolf on the head.
Marri frowned deeper.
“Marri?” Windhorn asked.
“Nothing.” She replied. “Anyone else?” She called out. No reply. “Let’s go.”
With that, the group left Thunder Bluff by Windrider.
“We be ‘eadin’ ta Booty Bay. From dere, it be easy ta get ta Westfall.” She said as they walked the docks in Ratchet.
“Standard rout.” Reign said. He was standing too close for Marri’s comfort. And that wolf gave her the creeps.
Windhorn watched Marri with concern.
The boat finally arrived and they got on board. Reign and Raze headed to see how high they could get. Marri headed below deck. Windhorn followed Marri.
“Marri? Is everything alright?” He asked.
“Why did it ‘ave ta be a elf?” She said.
“He’s a blood elf. He’s on our side.” Windhorn said.
“An elf be an elf. De be filt’y creatures.” She said. “All of dem.”
“He’s not a threat, Marri. He’s an ally.” He said.
“He be a elf. And of course a hunta.” She grumbled
“Problem with hunters?” He asked.
Marri sighed. “Years ago. When I be younger dan ya be now. I be captured by two elves. Dey rape me. Dey beat me. One... ‘e make ‘is wolf rape me. Den... dey rape me some more.” She said.
Windhorn’s eyes widened. “I didn’t know. I’m sorry.” He said.
“It be years ago.” She said with a shrug. “I ‘ate elves.”
“You should have turned him away.” Windhorn said.
“No. Ya be right. ‘e be ‘ere ta ‘elp.” She said. “I try ta be... nice.” The last word was forced through clenched teeth.
Windhorn nodded. This was going to be a LONG trip.
