Chapter 3 The Battle
The following morning, Kai meet up with Taishi Ci who brought him to meet up with the rest of the army. *I hope I don’t mess up*, Kai thought to himself not really paying attention to what Sun Jian was saying. “Since this is your first battle, try to stay close to me.” Taishi Ci said, “Umm…okay” Kai said nervously.
“Don’t be so nervous or else you won’t be able to concentrate on the battle.” Taishi Ci said, Kai remained silent just nodding his head in understanding and tried to calm down. Kai followed Taishi Ci to their position in the southern part of Ji. “Were will everyone else be at?” Kai asked, “The other forces will take positions in the southwestern and southeastern regions of Ji.” Taishi Ci said in a bit of a whisper.
“We will go on my signal, remember to stay close to me.” Taishi Ci told Kai, “Yes, Sir”, Kai replied. “Alright then let’s go!!” Taishi Ci Yelled to his troops and took off. Kai tried to stay close to Taishi Ci but couldn’t keep up so he tried to stay were Taishi Ci can see him. Upon coming up on the first officer in central Ji, Kai noticed Taishi Ci was battling with one of the officers.
Kai managed to get a few of the enemy soldiers and continued to advance to catch up with Taishi Ci. Upon coming up on a group of bowman, Kai noticed what looked like the officers lieutenant coming up from behind Taishi Ci. *Oh no I got to stop him* Kai thought as he ran to intercept the lieutenant.
The enemy officer smirked as he saw his lieutenant come up from behind Taishi Ci. “This is where you will die” the officer told Taishi Ci. *I won’t be able to make it in time* Kai thought as he took down the group of bowman, Kai picked up the bow and grabbed an arrow from one of the dead bowman and took aim.
The lieutenant jumped to hit Taishi Ci across his back, *I wont be able to get out of the way.* Taishi Ci thought bracing himself for the blow, but it never came. After taking out the enemy officer Taishi Ci noticed the body of the lieutenant laying motionless on the ground with an arrow in his chest.
*Who …* Taishi Ci thought then looked up and saw Kai not to far away with a bow in his hand running towards him. “Are you alright sir?” Kai asked, “I am thanks to you. Taishi Ci said “No problem sir” Kai said and noticed at the northeast entrance way another unit approaching. “Sir…another unit is approaching from the northeast entrance” Kai said pointing to the entranceway.
Taishi Ci turned and saw the unit approaching, “lets go the main force is counting on us” Taishi Ci said, “Right” Kai said taking hold of his sword and they took off to do battle once more. While battling the unit, Kai noticed two supply captains close to the enemy officer. After taking out the lieutenants, Kai went after the supply captains taking them out. He noticed the two boxes and had two soldiers bring it to the main camp, looking at Taishi Ci to see if its ok and when they saw him nod they took the boxes and took them to the main camp. Kai and Taishi Ci continued on and came to another officer by the name of Zhang Liang.
“That is the general that created those tornadoes.” Taishi Ci said, “So if we take him out the tornadoes will stop right?” Kai asked, “Yes” was the response he got. Taishi Ci ordered his troops to advance on Zhang Liang taking out the soldiers that were trying to stop them. Both Kai and Taishi Ci took out the lieutenants and then took out Zhang Liang right after, causing the tornadoes to stop.
“We did it sir, the tornadoes stopped.” Kai told Taishi Ci, “Good now the main force will be able to advance to the enemy camp, we should head over to the other side to take out Zhang Bao who is causing the rock slides making it difficult for the secondary force to advance.” Taishi Ci said.
So they made there way back the way they came, but instead of going to their main camp they went through the northwest entranceway. They made their way to were Zhang Bao was located. When they arrived Kai noticed that the officer was heavily guarded, “they must have gotten word of Zhang Liang’s death.” Taishi Ci said. “This will make things a little more difficult wont it?” Kai asked.
“Just a little but they won’t be too much trouble but just stay alert.” Taishi Ci told Kai, “alright.” Kai said before continuing, “Maybe we can use the surrounding areas to our advantage.” Kai suggested. “How so?” Taishi asked, “We can position our bowmen over there by those buildings, that way we will be able to attack from two sides” Kai said.
“That’s not a bad idea, bowman unit take cover over there by those buildings, move quickly but don’t let the enemy spot you, you attack when you see us begin our attack.” Taishi Ci ordered all the bowmen(which would be about 20-30 bowmen). The bowmen made their way behind the building getting into position to begin their attack.
“You ready?” Taishi Ci asked Kai, “As ready as I’ll ever be” Kai said. “Alright everyone move out.” Taishi Ci commanded and the troops started to run out. Zhang Bao noticed Taishi Ci advancing towards him but did not notice the bowmen that were hiding. “NOW!” Taishi Ci yelled looking towards the buildings, “WHAT!” Zhang Bao said and saw a barrage of arrows shower on his troops from the right.
Nearly half of Zhang Baos troops were wiped out from the attack by the bowmen leaving only his lieutenants and a small amount of his soldiers left. Taishi Ci advanced to Zhang Bao while Kai took care of the lieutenants. Taishi Ci made short work of Zhang Bao defeating him and putting an end to the rockslide.
“There now the secondary force will be able to advance with little trouble.” Taishi Ci said, “So all that’s left is the enemy commander right?” Kai asked. “Correct, we’ll make our way the with the secondary force providing assistance for the main unit.” Taishi Ci said.
The battle ended in favor of the allied forces. Back at the main camp Taishi Ci congratulated his troops on a job well done before turning to Kai who was shaking from the apparent adrenaline rush he was feeling. “You did great out there on the battle field and your strategy to hide the bowmen… I’ve never seen anything like that before.” Taishi Ci said to Kai.
“Um…th…th…thanks” Kai stammered, still shaking looking like he was having trouble breathing. “Hey …hey calm down take deep breaths.”Taishi Ci told Kai, “I…I’m…I’m t..t..trying, b..b..but I c..cant stop s..sh..shaking” Kai stuttered trying to calm down. Taishi Ci laid a hand on Kais shoulder as means to comfort Kai, Kai shuddered when he felt Taishi Ci lay a hand on him making him relax a little bit.
“You need anything?” Taishi Ci asked, “Um maybe some water…yea water would be nice right now.”Kai said finally calmed down. “Alright I’ll be right back.” Taishi Ci said leaving to go get Kai some water and to give him the spiral rods he had made for Kai. Kai went over by his tent and found the two boxes he managed to get from the two enemy supply captains. Opening the boxes he found a sword that looked a bit different from the one he uses and a white fan.
*Wonder what one would need a fan in battle* Kai thought as he put the weapons back in the boxes. Upon returning Taishi noticed Kai examining the weapons before putting them back in the boxes, “Those looked kind of cool.” Kai said mainly to himself but a certain general heard him. “If you want, you can have them.” Taishi Ci said, “Ahh…oh man you scared me” Kai said a little startled.
“Sorry I didn’t mean to I just was watching you examine the weapons and didn’t want to bother you.” Taishi Ci said, “That’s ok…um what is with the rods in your hand?” Kai asked. “Oh these are for you for what you did out there in battle today.” Taishi Ci said. These look cool to I might use them in battle.” Kai said a little excited with the gift. “If you want I can teach you how to use them, it might be a little harder than a sword but…”, “That would be great.” Kai said cutting Taishi Ci off. “Oh and one other thing I am promoting you to the rank of sergeant.” Taishi Ci said to Kai.
*I got promoted after just one battle* Kai thought shocked that he was promoted, “Thank you sir, but I don’t think I deserve it so early especially after one battle.” Kai said, “Ah but I think you do, you showed a great deal of bravery out there, more than any of my other soldiers and you managed to complete the orders I gave you effectively.”Taishi Ci said to Kai. *And also you saved my life if you didn’t take out the lieutenant then I probably wouldn’t be here right now.* Taishi Ci thought.
“Well in that case I am honored sir, I wont let you down.” Kai said with a smile “I know you wont, and remember this now you must work harder, because from here on I am entrusting you with more responsibilities.” Taishi Ci said. “Right” Kai said, “Get some sleep we head home in the morning.” Taishi Ci Said then left.
Kai after putting his weapons away and had his dinner went to his tent and fell asleep. Taishi Ci went into his tent and thoughts of Kai started to play in his mind “He was able to mask his fears of being in his first battle very well… like he has done it before.” Taishi Ci said to himself. *And if he has done it before then he might be hiding something you might not want to know* said a little voice in his head. “If he is I wonder what he could be hiding” Taishi Ci replied, *Maybe it has something to do with why he’s always lost in thought while training, he might have had something terrible done to him that he doesn’t want you to know about, you might hate him for it.*
“I hope he tells me, and if you are right and something bad has been done to him in the past I wouldn’t hate him.” Taishi Ci told the ‘voice’. *But if its as bad like someone raping him what will you do?* the voice asked “If something like that happened to him then…then I…I don’t know but I wouldn’t hate him for it I lo…” Taishi Ci stopped himself at the last part. “I’ll wait till he ready to tell me.” Taishi Ci said then went to sleep.

Wow it has been three weeks since my last update hopefully i dont that again then i wouldnt have to try and get this out faster than normal(basicly i lost the battle list from the game i wrote down the levels from destiny mode so i can stay a head and dont have to play one level at a time but then one day my lil bro came and took the papers outside and literaly set them on fire.)next chapter Kai returns home from battle and starts to think about Taishi Ci and well he experiences something but i wont tell.
