Return to the island

“Shit…” Sora stated sinking into the captain seat on the Gummi ship. “We don’t even know which world is which, we need to unlock them.” Sora found no way to beat Axel to his goal, it didn’t matter if he knew where Destiny Island was and even if Sora did know where the island was he would have to deal with going to another world to unlock the gateway to his home world.

“Not true.” Larxene interrupted with a devious smile. “I still use the darkness, you think that I am unable to open a portal to the darkness?” Sora sat up with hope in his eyes. “Come on, we really don’t have anytime to waste if we want to save your little friend.” Closing her eyes she raised her hand and a portal opened from nothing but air.

Sora smiled widely and sprinted strait in, not fearing the darkness. For a moment, he saw Riku’s image flash in front of his eyes, an image that he didn’t know was only his imagination and brought hope of seeing his childhood friend again. “Slow down Sora.” Larxene called out, although Sora continued running after the image, it was guiding him deeper and deeper. “SORA!” He felt a fiery hot pain on the left side of his face.

His eyes opened and Larxene had him pinned under her. “DO NOT DO THAT!” She shouted. “The darkness tries to lure you deeper into it using images and scenes from your past.” Lowering her hand she seized his and pulled him up. “Good thing is that we’re close. I can almost sense it.” They walked in silence, fully aware that they still were holding the other’s hand. “I think that it is this portal, can’t you sense it?”

“Not really sense, more like smell.” He stated. Larxene looked toward him and raised an eyebrow. “Well, when I was younger, I went to hollow Bastion and fought heartless. In the end I became one and the darkness continues to linger with me. All it has done though is sharpen my senses like smell, I can tell that Kairi is through here, I can almost feel her. Come on, she’s here somewhere.”

Both walked though the portal and landed on the soft beach where Sora’s adventure first started. Unlike with the battle of Ansem, the beach was smooth and soft, the sea rode up the bank the receded back down in the direction that it came in. The sun was warm and felt nice on his skin despite that it was setting over the horizon casting out an orange color over the blue sky.

He could sense it. Kairi was here and she was with Axel. “Larxene, why does Axel want to take Kairi away anyway?” Sora asked.

“To get to you.” She stated with an angry look on her face. “There is something inside of you, apart of you that he wants to see, to be with. You see, he has his heart, he feels again and doesn’t want to feel pain of losing a friend, he is willing to take your friend to get his back again.” Sora was confused, to him it sounded as if Axel only wanted a part of Sora, to break him in half.

“She’s close.” Sora stated as he walked past the old cave where the door that linked the worlds sat. “I’m going to surprise her Larxene.” He was oblivious to his surroundings. Nobodies have had tem totally surrounded.

“Make it quick.” She stated while pulling out her kunai knifes and throwing them into one of the nobodies that came out of it’s own portal. “He’s coming. Find her and bring her back to me.” With that she threw five more kunai’s at the nobodies and watched them disappear with a small poof.

Nodding in response Sora climbed up the ladder as fast as his legs would carry him.

Looking over the edge of the tree fort at the fighting was Kairi, her face showed bewilderment and disbelief as the white tusks would appear and disappear just as soon as Larxene beat them down. “Kairi!” Axel called out from the darkness. Slowly he stepped out and scanned Kairi from head to toe. “You miss him don’t you? I miss my friend too. Why don’t we pay Sora a quick visit.” Axel extended his hand and began to walk closer to Kairi. She stepped back in fear as four more white tusks surrounded them both.

“That so?” Kairi asked trying to buy time. If Wakka, Titus or Selphe came she might be saved from this man. “If you know Sora…then who are you looking for? And why would you bother to help me find Sora if you are looking for your friend?”

“My friend….is with Sora.” Axel stated cryptically. He crossed his arms over his chest he leaned back on the tree. “So Sora will come for you and he will bring my friend back to me…simple isn’t it. So, are you going to come nicely or will I have to drag you kicking and screaming?”

“How’s about she stays put?” Sora stated. Pulling his keyblade back he threw it forward using strike raid and finishing off the four tusks. “Miss me much?” He then looked back at Kairi and smiled brightly. A familiar barrier surrounded not only him but Axel as well and box Kairi outside.

“Tell me, do you remember me?” Sora shook his head at Axel’s question. “Well, lets see if you can make me feel alive.” On the word alive his weapons started on fire and so did the walls, further barring Sora off from Kairi.

He pulled out his keyblade and attached Oathkeeper to it. Axel launched his weapons at Sora, with ease he raised his keyblade and blocked the shots. They flew back at Axel and he caught them gracefully. Sora sprinted forward and swung straight down, Axel blocked with one of his weapons and swung forward with his other weapon. Crouching down Sora jumped backward and barely dodged the second weapon.

“You’ll have to try harder Roxas.” Axel mocked as he leapt backwards and into the fire.

“Fine by me.” Sora replied. It didn’t take long, with Axel’s comment, Namine’s awakening and seeing the boy in his head he knew that he was Roxas, and Roxas was Sora. Axel jumped out of the fire and dashed past Sora, purposely missing. “You might be able to beat Roxas at one point, but you can’t beat me.” Sora mocked

Axel leapt out of the fire and dashed at Sora, leaving a trail of fire behind him. Sora was mowed down and Axel now loomed over him. “What did you say? Something about me losing to you?”

“Yes I did.” Sora then swung his keyblade as he leapt back up to his feat. Unfearing of the repercussions Sora pulled out a second keyblade and made Valor form work. He swung left and right faster then he ever had before. Axel began to slow down and Sora jumped backward, kicked off the barrier and swung both keyblades down on Axel’s shoulders knocking him down onto his knees. Leaping in the air he slammed the keyblades into the ground and watched as light flew out from beneath it and sliced Axel deep. The fire that surrounded them faded and Sora stepped toward Axel.

“Heh…I never could beat Roxas either.” Axel said as a portal opened beneath him. Sora didn’t care though, allowing him to escape could work to his advantage in the end anyway. The red clothing faded and returned to the normal black color that he always wore.

“Hi Kairi.” Sora greeted awkwardly, they hadn’t seen each other for what seemed like an eternity and time had manage to change the both of them. “Uh…you look good.” Kairi walked toward Sora and wrapped her arms around his chest and nuzzled her face into him.

“Don’t leave me behind again. Okay?” Kairi stated, not really expecting an answer or even a response to her demands. The fact was he didn’t know how to. Sora looked in the background and saw a very broad smile playing on the lips of Larxene.

Seeing the distress in Sora’s eyes she wrapped her arms around herself, telling Sora without words to hold Kairi. Without anything else she turned her back on the couple and walked off into a portal of darkness.

He was worried about Larxene, but now he was needed by Kairi. Wrapping his arms around Kairi he gently squeezed her. They didn’t say a word, it didn’t matter what had happened, what they remembered or had been doing, all there was was future where the other would always stay near the other.

Kairi only pulled away about a foot and cupped Sora’s face with her left had. Instinctively Sora placed his right hand on her lower back and ran his left hand over the back of her head and played with her hair between his fingers. Smiling Kairi pushed Sora away playfully. “Don’t think that you are going anywhere without me this time around.”

“I didn’t plan on it.” He replied turning his back on Kairi and walking over to the edge of the tree fort. “But now that you mention it…” Sora then fell backwards and off of the edge and into the deep water below. He felt the sinking sensation that you only get when you are in water as it almost cradled him gently.

Kairi stepped onto the balcony that Sora was just on and leapt headfirst into the water, not bothering with testing for warmth, or changing out of her clothes. When she landed they were feet apart. Sora reached out and spread his fingers apart, she extended her arm and pulled him above the edge of the water without any effort. Together they laughed and walked out onto the beaches edge and stared up at the sky, telling the other about what they had been doing all of the time, after all a year is a large chunk of a life.

“Wait, you mean that everyone has forgotten about me but remembered Riku?” Sora asked sitting up from the inclining position. “What makes him so damned special that you forget about me and remember him?”

Kairi laughed at his response and sat up next to him. “Well you went exploring and met many women along the way, you mean to tell me that you haven’t thought about them instead of me? God Sora. That is so much worse then me forgetting.”

Sora blushed for a moment as he remembered Ollete, the girl in twilight town that he kissed before he left. While it was never acknowledged Sora and Kairi were considered a couple due to all the time they spent at the beach or with Riku holding hands or whispering. Often kissing when they thought that they were alone only to have Tidus or Selphie jump out from behind a bush and scare or tease them. ‘I wonder if it is cheating if you haven’t seen the other person in a year or if in this case they forget about you?’

He was broken from his thoughts as an unusually cool breeze flew past the young pair. “It’s freezing, and it’ll take way too long to get across the sea to our houses, let’s stay in the cave for the night. It’s become a lover’s spot of sorts and will have blankets, candles and firewood in it.”

Sora nodded and they walked off and into the cave, the walls were still covered in the strange drawings the place seemed to generate. In the corner Sora saw the drawing of himself and Kairi feeding the other Paopu fruit. Kairi started a small fire and laid out a blanket. Next she propped up some thick sticks and put them high and over the fire.

Sora then blushed a deep crimson color as Kairi unzipped her long pink dress and left her in a white tank top and a pair of white panties. He couldn’t tear his eyes away from Kari’s trim figure and long tanned legs. She felt his eyes on her, but it didn’t bother her in the least. Although she played that she didn’t notice, closing her eyes and sighing deeply. “Well, you gonna keep waiting? If you don’t get out of those wet clothes then you are going to get sick.”

Sighing in defeat he pulled off his black vest and pulled his red tee shirt over his head exposing his toned stomach and shaped but not chiseled chest. Pulling off his belt his shorts fell off his legs and tugged off his shoes. Like Kairi, he could feel a pair of eyes burrow into his chest and even his boxers. Trying to see what was buried beneath the thin garment.

Both laid down on the blanket that Kairi threw down next to the fire and cuddled together, trying to conserve heat. “I still don’t believe that you managed to fly.” Kairi stated wrapping her arm over her chest and grasping onto his shoulder.

“I’ll take you to that world someday.” Sora replied, his thoughts drifted to Peter and the lost boys. He couldn’t imagine leaving to a place like that and never coming back home. “Home…how have my parents been?”

Kairi bit her lip and tried to think of the best way to put it. “they have been…okay I guess.” She let out a sigh. “No one seems to remember you or Riku though. I mean other than me. I tried to talk to all of our old friends, your parents and even our teachers. Now everyone thinks that I am mentally unstable.”

“Well I guess that you really don’t need to hang around here anymore.” Sora began. “I have some other things to do and Riku to find. I guess that if you stay out of the way you could come along for the ride.” Kairi playfully punched him in the arm. “My parents are alright though? What about Iris?” Kairi was well aware of Sora’s little sister Iris who adored each other.

In the end she was probably going to be dragged into everything. Axel came to take her so Sora would chase him and lose his heart. If his heart was always with Iris then it was only time that Axel would find her and use her like he planned to use Kairi. ‘What if we bring her?’ “Your parents are alright…it’s strange though, Iris remembers some things, like how a dog attacked her.” Sora then turned to Kairi. “And a dark figure with spiky hair swung a branch at the dog to fend it off of her. Although she doesn’t have her memories in a way she still knows you. I think that we should bring her with us. I mean if we don’t then won’t Axel eventually try to take her?”

“I suppose that you are right.” Sora stated closing his eyes.

“I’ll take you to school, but before that I got to get you some new clothes.”

“What’s wrong with what I was wearing a minuet ago?”

“First they are wet, next they don’t work with the school dress code.” Kairi then giggled. “Girls where blue skirts and a button up white shirt. The school girl uniform. Boys on the other hand have to wear blue jeans and a button up long sleeved shirt. We can go early in the morning.”

~The next morning~

Sora just got back from the store and he picked out a white long sleeved shirt, faded blue jeans and he threw a brown fall out boy shirt over it. He now waited outside of Kairi’s home for her to come out. After a moment Kairi came out calmly with her blue skirt and white button up shirt. Her hair was pulled up into a ponytail but left two front strands on each side of her face. “Come on, I’ve got the papers that we need.” Kairi stated pulling Sora out of his daydream. She grasped his hand and led him down the beat up old streets. “Everyone is alright…I guess.”

“What do you mean by that?” Sora asked

“Well, only Selphie and I are still friends, Wakka, Tidus, and pretty much everyone else on the island has changed.” Kairi then paused and bit down on her lower lip. “Depending on how you look at it they could be bad or good. Tidus is more independent, Yuna is more confident, Lulu is just as quite and Selphie is hyper. But…they all hate me other than Selphie.” Sora’s grip tightened around her hand. “Now listen to me…no matter what everyone does to me you have to ignore it. You break a rule and you’ll have to leave and you won’t get to meet your sister.”

“So what?” Sora asked. “I can just go to her house.”

“No you can’t. As far as she is considered you’re still a stranger, if you follow her then you’re technically a stalker. Not good. So just don’t start a fight.” Kairi scolded. “Oh, by the way, your shadowing me, so just stick near me the entire day and don’t wander off okay?”

“Why does everyone hate you anyway?” Sora asked, he never did like being told instructions anyway. “I mean, what could you have done to that many people to make them hate you? And why would Selphie still side with you and not Tidus and Wakka?”

“I just knew that you were going to ask that.” Kairi stated. “I ruined Tidu’s life, and fought with Wakka. They then started spreading a bunch of rumors about me and everyone just jumped onto the bandwagon and kept on with the rumors.” Kairi sighed and stopped in front of the high school. “Well we’re here.”

READ THIS-An:// Sorry for the wait, I just got off from the honeymoon, anyway, if you want a beta, either volunteer or wait until I find someone who is a beta and played the game.

Also, I want reviews and am not above deleting this story if I don’t get a few. Say what you like, don’t like or what you want to see

Another thing, I’m taking the Sora/Larxene out and making it a Sora/Kairi/Riku. Any objections?
